Man This D Is Getting Old....

Feeling fine this morning.....everything ok.

Bam 10:45 stomach rumbling hits and here it comes.

Only thing I can think is it's something in Chinese food that's doing this.

I seem to get sicker from eating Chinese food than anything else. I'm guessing

it's pretty pervasive in this cuisine...

Here's the question. If I have Celiac would it make my stomach tender so that

many things might make me sick...i.e. not just Gluten Intolerant but have trouble

digesting other things too?....

The answer to that question is YES!

There's all sorts of gluten in Chinese food. Soy sauce is mostly wheat (you'd think it would mostly be soy - but no B))

First of all YES on the Chinese food!! If it has soy sauce, it's loaded with wheat!! Most soy sauce has wheat as one of the first ingredients. Many of the sauces will have wheat or soy sauce in them.

Secondly, you can have other problems. My Enterolab tests had come back with a high number for casein. I ignored it because I was feeling so much better gluten-free. It got to the point the past couple weeks that I've had terrible brain fog -- I feel high much of the time to the point that my family has to make things real simple for me. I also have had no energy; fortunately, I have six kids and am very good at delegating! I got off casein two days ago and am having terrible withdrawal from it. This is the same thing that happened when I eliminated wheat (not gluten) from my diet four years ago! I am so lethargic I have spent most of the day in bed. Oh, the d has been there, too. It's the fog bank that's bothering me though. I am not getting hidden gluten, I know this is from the casein. I just hope I finally get better and it's not something else, too.

Sorry if my post didn't make sense - I meant that gluten intolerance can definitely make you more sensitive to other foods. You could have additional food intolerances, or, when you gut heals, all that might go away.

After your trip and testing, there is a gluten-free soy sauce. PF Changs has a gluten-free menu and they use the gluten-free soy sauce on those dishes. Don't forget to take the anti-D stuff on your trip. You don't want to spend all the time in the bathroom instead of enjoying the trip. I would just take it all the time and not wait for the D to hit.

Jerry, you still have time to get the test before you leave. You won't have the results back until after the trip so you won't have to worry about the diet on the trip. Then you could start your gluten free diet (if required) as soon as you get back home. The sooner you go gluten free (if you have celiac) the better the chance of less damage. Have fun on your trip!!!

      Did you take a look at my pics that I uploaded?    These rashes is not itchy, but I have seen that people have this too that have celiac and it’s not itchy for them either. I have also heard that sulfur burps are a common things with celiac too.  Yes it can be something else too but it’s to much symptoms that I have that match with either gluten sensitivity or celiac.   Hopefully it’s just gluten intolerance and not celiac.  As I said before I have the gen type for celiac and diabetes typ 1 and the those diseases going hand in hand.    Thanks again Trent for your time to reply, and I wonder if any body else have kind of the same symptoms that I have?

      Welcome Connie Smitj,  Did you have a follow up test to see if the treatment for H Pylori was successful?  It's possible to catch it again, especially from a partner.  When I contracted it a second time my wife was tested and was positive for two of the bacteria in H Pylori.

      Welcome to the forum, @Connie Smitj! Can you give us a little more history about your celiac journey? How long ago were you diagnosed and how long have your been gluten free? Do you have other symptoms besides quick onset of hunger after eating and gut pain? How long have these symptoms being happening?

      I eat a gluten-free diet but hunger pains start within an hour of eating dinner. I  had h pylori infection before I was diagnosed. Occasionally I’ll have bouts of pain. Could it come back or is it just celiac disease?

      Scott, am I missing something? For the TTG-IGA normal is anything 3 or less and his score less than 2. I think that one is in normal range. @Brown42186, if the GI doc is not interested in doing an endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel lining based on the elevated TTG-IGG I would request a repeat on the bloodwork now that you have resumed gluten consumption again.
