I need a gastroenterologist in the Seattle /Tacoma Area.

Anyone with good reports.

I went to a Dr. R. Driscoll and found him to be demeaning and downright rude. Treated me as though I know nothing and kept interrupting me when I tried to share my symptoms etc. He would ask a questions in such a demeaning manner that I started to feel very vulnerable and sad. and then if it took more than 2 words to answer he would cut me off and say something like "that's not what I'm asking you" . Who referred you to me. How do you know you have celiac disease.

Well since my blood tests showed ttg and all the others over 100 I was told by a past MD I have IT!!!!

"Well that doesn't mean you do..... maybe you do but maybe not and on and on and on

He wants me to do a gluten challenge and get a biopsy but I am not sure he's the guy.

any ideas or experiences with this guy?

What is it with these guys? He seems so full of himself and his answers that he doesn't hear much or care to hear his patients responses.

Have you been gluten free in the past and if so what was the result?

I have been gluten free since last August. I have had some excellent changes in some areas but not in others. I believe either there is something else going on besides the celiac possibly. I figure if I am still having problems than probably the gut is not completely healed and they should be able to see something.

It is possible I have been totally unintentionally glutened but for the most part I am truly vigilant.

I wish I could suggest someone - I'm in your area - I live in Bellingham. Good luck to you. I'll be sure to see if anyone has good suggestions and write them down in case I decide I need to see a gastroen.... I've just gotten the diagnoses from my OB/GYN (I asked for the test) and then learned the ropes myself. I've seen some improvement, so I'm just going to keep trucking. I have been working with other issues as well. I've gone off all grains and beans for three days and I'm seeing how that goes. Often, our best docs are just ourselves in detective mode. What would Columbo do, I always say. Okay, I never say that.

I'm in the area, but do not have a GI, so I'm afraid I can't suggest anyone. I was dx'ed by my PCP down in SoCal based on inconclusive blood tests after two weeks gluten free and a positive response to the diet and a negative response to a gluten challenge after being gluten free for a few months. All further followup has been with my PCP, but I'm a fairly simple case, wrt celiac.

@BoiseNic Have you tried the Autoimmune Protocol Diet?  This Paleo diet cuts out most everything except meat, veggies and some fruits.  By cutting out all the carbohydrates, especially processed ones, the carbohydrate loving bacteria and fungi like Candida get starved out and die off.  After that, taking probiotics to help repopulate the gut is beneficial.  The new strains of bacteria don't have to fight the established unhealthy yeasts and bad bacteria which causes a rise in histamine levels which can make one feel sick.   Certain vitamins help keep bad bacteria and fungi at bay.  Thiamine is one.  Antibiotics can deplete Thiamine stores.  The Gluten free diet can be low in Thiamine and the other vitamins and minerals needed for healthy skin and digestive tract.  Vitamin C, Vitamin D, zinc, and Niacin B 3 are important to skin health.  Niacin is especially helpful in Dermatitis Herpetiformis.  I like the kind that flushes (Nicotinic Acid - not the same as nicotine in cigarettes).  The flushing gets less and less the longer it's taken, but Niacinamide which doesn't cause flushing can be taken instead.     Here's an interesting article.  Compare the bacteria mentioned in the article with your Skinesa and then with the Visbiome probiotics.   The Role of Probiotics in Skin Health and Related Gut–Skin Axis: A Review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10385652/ Visbiome https://www.visbiome.com/collections/all/products/visbiome-capsules

The short answer is if it hurts, don't do it. Yogurt may help sooth your gut and repopulate it with benificial bacteria.  I prefer whole milk yogurt because it is not processed and the no fat yogurt is processed dehydrated milk powder with guar gums and water added to make it mouth feel like fat.  Especially in early healing there may be other foods you cannot tolerate for a while.

I guess I would encourage you to abstain from the wine for a while. If you know something causes you pain then it is a good idea not to do it if you don't have to.

Encouraging to hear others have had this pain and thanks for the responses   yes I was checked, no H pylori.

We have had numbers of others on this forum report pain in that same area. Have you been checked for an H. Pylori infection? This is something very common in the celiac population.
