Vanilla. Did I Make A Mistake?

I had been using pure vanilla extract to bake cookies and muffins. It occured to me today that it has alcohol in it! I have all of these baked goods made, eeekkkk! So dumb question, is the alcohol in vanilla okay? I will call the manufacturer tomorrow, but would like to know sooner as I need a back up plan. The baked goods are for an out of town trip so I will need to go buy my daughter cookies, etc. Thanks

I don't know of a vanilla extract that is not safe.

Nini:

I have always head that McCormicks makes a Vanilla that is gluten free as they use a synthethically durived vanilla, sometimes called Vanillin.

McCormicks Vanilla is safe TO MY KNOWLEDGE.

My vanilla actually says GLUTEN FREE on it. I got it at the healthfood store. If you like, I can go dig up the brand.

If it is McCormicks then it is safe. Other brands may or may not be safe. The kind we use says gluten free right on it and you can generally find those at health food stores.

I would suggest you ask your doctor to order a "total IGA" test to check for IGA deficiency.

I did a gluten challenge. I ate bread yesterday. I immediately felt horrid. Depressed, fearful, angry.  I also had the weirdest night terrors and "day terrors" (delusions). They were do awful, that I am still terrified. How do gluten impact your dreams?

Thanks so much for replying!  No I haven't been limiting gluten prior to this test, I didn't know the Dr even tested for it until I got my results. These were the only celiac related pathology that was tested for. I am seeing my Dr on Monday so hopefully she can shed some more light!

New here as well lots of things learning I’ve discovered lots of foods have sneaky gluten so be mindful how is it going?? I have issues when I do cocktails 🍸 I don’t know if it is gluten free or not but get horrible side effects and so many others ooh well we are all learning how to cope with this….
