How Long After Accidental Glutening.....

does your child start to get back to normal? My daughter is 16 months and does the typical geting into things , picking up her sisters food, finding things on the floor, etc. And we have had a few bouts over the last few weeks of her getting ahold of things she shouldn't. Each time I notice she won't eat for several days and we battle the poo and stuff. Sometimes it only takes 3-4 days and she is back up and running but sometimes it can takes much longer. How long does it take for your child to start feeling better?

2-5 days. We nearly went insane trying to keep gluten (my hubby is not gluten-free) from elliot at that age, he got into everything and crumbs were dropped.... Then no regular bread or crumb-producing things came into our house anymore. My husband gets wheat tortillas for roll-up sandwhiches and he still has spreadables that aren't gluten-free, but we have not had a problem after we got rid of crumbs. We also taught elliot not to pick things up off the floor or eat them, and washed his hands quite often, which helped when we were at other people's homes. Then came teaching him to keep his food on a plate/napkin and not eating off the table or chair- again, helpful when we are out. Best wishes to you, I hope your little one is feeling better soon!

Well at least I know I am not alone. Sometimes I just wonder if it is from a virus or another food allergy or if she got into something or was it that cracker, etc. Her current fav. place to search for food is the trach can in the kitchen! She keeps me on my toes. I try my best to restrict her but I also have a family daycare in home and that too keeps me busy with her around. But 2-5 days seems to be her too. Thanks!

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

The critic acid and sodium citrate is corn unfortunately and they don’t have to label corn because it’s not part of the top 9 allergen and not mandatory 😭

Yaya, from the JAMA study you refer to: "Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity." No one on this forum is recommending  taking anywhere near that amount. We're talking about 5-10,000IU daily.

"Doses higher than the RDA are sometimes used to treat medical problems such as vitamin D deficiency, but these are given only under the care of a doctor for a specified time frame. Blood levels should be monitored while someone is taking high doses of vitamin D." Quoted from the Healthline article @Yaya linked above...
