Dd Gliadin Antibody Results

When I took Kirsten to the dr today for 18 month well baby check up I asked to see our actual lab results since all they had told me was that we both had negative results. Well, hers were not as obviously negative as the nurse had implied on the phone.

Her Gliadin Antibody (IGA) was less than 3 with is obviously negative since anything under 11 is negative but

Her Gliadin Antibody (IGG) was 12 which the lab had flagged as high. For reference anything under 11 is negative, 11-17 Equivocal and anything above 17 is positive.

I am wondering why the nurse didn't tell me that her IGG was flagged as high. Considering she is 18 months old I find it concerning that her IGG is already slightly high considering she hasn't been ingesting gluten for that long. (I am new to this so maybe that isn't a big deal but to me it was something to ?)

Our MD told me that I know more about celiac than he does at this point--he just covered it briefly in med school and looked up what tests to order for DH when we wanted him tested. He said he wants me to go to a pediatrician who specializes in unusual diseases to see what he thinks. I guess there is not a pediatric GI in Wichita. He told me he thought that doctor would know where to send me if he didn't know what to do.

Anyway, we go Monday afternoon to see this new doctor. Is there anything in particular I should ask him to test for, look for or do while we are there? I think our MD didn't do all of the normal blood tests now that I have read Danna Korn's Celiac Kids book. Because some of the test results she talked about were nowhere to be found on any of our lab results. I am glad he is sending Kirsten on because I am still concerned about her D and bouts of C. Her D looks a lot like DS and DH's so that is why I am persisting.

I have talked to DH about enterolab (I am wanting to just test her that way) but Jason wants to try to get her tested though our doctor so that it is not out of area and not covered. I am submitting to his wishes for now.

Sorry to keep rambling. Kirsten's diagnosis is not going as easy as the guys. Hopefully we will get it figured out soon. Kendra
