My DD has had the following symptoms for almost two weeks. I have already taken her to the dr last week thinking it might have been her ears and except for the red throat she was fine but we are still dealing with the symptoms. Do you think she might be getting gluten from somewhere or do you think she might be just sick still?

*Symptoms started almost 2 weeks ago

*Crying, screaming and fussing at night.

*Night wakings/restless sleeping

*Won't take bottle on occasions when she is crying and screaming (this is REALLY odd for her)

*Very loose/sometimes jelly like poop with "chunks" or light colored/tan BM's

*Red throat with sores (But no other sick symptoms like fever, etc)

*Loss of or very little wanting to eat.

And no she has all her teeth! ;) What do you think? I have already had her to the dr and he pretty much gave her a thumbs up except for the red throat. But two weeks is a bit long for all this to continue. Do you think she might be getting gluten?? Or should I make another trip to the dr?

Every mom feels for another mom going through this...it's not fun....and what you'd do if you could just trade places with them! anyways, it sounds like a sinus infection or congestion to me. Even if she doesn't have nose drainage, it could be all blocked up causing the screaming adn more pain when she's lying down..as her whold head, ears, etc. would hurt. Sore throat could be caused from drainage down her throat. Doesn't want to take the bottle or eat because she'd have to breather through her nose which she cant'. The poop, I'm not so sure...maybe she has a virus on top of everything else? Did the dr. say anything about the possibility of a sinus infection or bad sinus cold? Could you try a decongestant? What about just really bad allergies? I know when I have them, my throat gets very sore, my head feels stuffy, breathing feels funny, etc...very similar symptoms but without the extreme head/face pain. Good luck!

Well, if it is a virus, it ought to wrap itself up in a couple of days . . . viruses usually only hang around for 10 - 14 days. Sometimes it takes a little bit longer for all the symptoms to clear up. One of my babies is just getting to the end of a nasty hand/foot/mouth type virus, and it has certainly been a couple of rough weeks. This is the sort of thing that makes we want to go back to those paper chains we used in elementary school to show how many days were left before Christmas break.

Has the Dr. done a rapid strep test on her? And (if so) did they send it out for a further culture? That way they ought to be able to determine what kind of bug is causing her sore throat, at least

Good luck!

Nope. He said she was fine otherwise. No cold or anything. No ear problems. No fever. Just a red throat and the symptoms mentioned above.

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

The critic acid and sodium citrate is corn unfortunately and they don’t have to label corn because it’s not part of the top 9 allergen and not mandatory 😭

Yaya, from the JAMA study you refer to: "Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity." No one on this forum is recommending  taking anywhere near that amount. We're talking about 5-10,000IU daily.

"Doses higher than the RDA are sometimes used to treat medical problems such as vitamin D deficiency, but these are given only under the care of a doctor for a specified time frame. Blood levels should be monitored while someone is taking high doses of vitamin D." Quoted from the Healthline article @Yaya linked above...
