Dr said it is definatly Celiac now. He thought Hunter got better w/out being gluten-free. I told him the deal. He said to be very strict with the diet. he even said to be obsessive about it.

Anyway, so now I need a gluten-free vitamin for him (he's 3)

a bath soap. He used to use Aveeno, safe? He gets very dry ithcy skin w/ out it. But I hesitate to use it now.

How about Hershey's chocolate syrup. gluten-free? If not then is there an alternative?

TIA for all your help, and for all the help earlier!!

AprilL. In NY, w/ Hunter 3 dx 7-28 on his 3rd B-day

gummy vites are clearly labeled gluten-free

aveeno is NOT safe (oats)

Hershey's will clearly label gluten. I've used their chocolate syrup with no issues, but I prefer Ah laska chocolate syrup because it's labeled gluten-free

Yep - definitely be very strict about the diet.

Aveeno is not safe - they have oat in all of their products. You might try using an olive oil based soap, or looking for other natural soaps. (Tom's of Maine is a good one, IMHO.) That, and applying a good lotion or oil to keep in moisture after the bath. If you can't find a lotion you like (Burt's Bees has a number of good options), you can just go strait jojoba oil.)

I don't know about the vitamins (not kids vitamins, anyway), but Hershey's will label everything, so just check the label. I think it's gluten-free, but ALWAYS read the label. Ingredients can, and do, change at any time. Read the label each time, every time.

LOL I just saw a thread in products that you all were going on about it! Is it in health food stores or just online? TIA!!

Hi! We've got a sensitive little one, too-

We use cetaphyl (or the generic from walmart) as a soap- it's not actually soap and is kept in a separate location in the store, I think by the make-up. But we don't use it in the bath, just as a hand soap - el (2) bathes in plain water. Sometimes I add lavender oil, just a drop or two. Johnson and johnson baby shampoo on his hair once a week, and if he's really dirty I add a drop of the shampoo to the bath as it's filling. Anything else and he breaks out. Every night we cover him, head to toe, in jergens lotion. We used to use burt's bees apricot oil.... smelled so yummy, but the jergens works better for him, I think.

El takes Yummy Bears vitamins. There are more that are gluten-free, but most of them contain other stuff he's allergic to.

best wishes!

Whole Foods here (In NJ) carries it. There's a regular size bar and also a larger bar. If you keep it in the shower, make sure that you put it out of the way of the water or it will get gummy and disolve faster. Otherwise, I'm finding it lasts a long time. :)

I was wondering. Since nicole had been gluten free she hasn't had any rashes or been itching alot, like she used to.

Now the IgE antibody they test,Is that how sensative they are or something else?

Nicoles were

IgE- 272 ----------------------- normal: 0-30

TTG- 80 ------------------------- normal: <20

Is that maybe why she was itchy so much before the diet?

Thanks

Celina & Nicole

Sorry for the double post.

As Scott suggests, look into dermatitis herpetiformis. Also the rash there could be from SIBO small intestinal bacterial overgrowth or candida. If your regular doc won't investigate those possibilities, consider going to a naturopathic doc or integrative medicine doc.

The forms of vitamins really mattered for me, maybe not for everyone but very much for me. Learned so much here. This b12, recommended by @Ennis-TX has really helped me since diagnose.  I can tell when i run out that i don't feel as good. LIQUIDHEALTH Vitamin B12 Methylcobalamin Liquid Drops with Sublingual Hydroxocobalamin - Boost Energy, Support Immune System, Improve Memory & Concentration - Vegan, Sugar Free, Non-GMO (2 Pack) https://a.co/d/c3cxXt7   i also had RLS, one of my few noticeable symptoms before diagnosis. It rears up when I slack off the supplements or drink wine. I found 2 of these a day keeps it at bay, get it very rarely now: Limited-time deal: ANDREW LESSMAN Circulation & Vein Support for Healthy Legs 60 Capsules - High Bioactivity Diosmin, Butcher's Broom, Visibly Reduces Swelling & Discomfort in Feet, Ankles, Calves, Legs https://a.co/d/7int9i9   I also take the procapslabs.com b complex, it has the methyl forms, which makes a difference for me: ANDREW LESSMAN High Potency B-Complex 180 Capsules - with High Levels of Folate Complex & Biotin, Promotes Cellular Growth, Energy, Immune Function, Detoxification, Fat Metabolism & More https://a.co/d/4fkAmFx   I also take extra thiamine, in form benfotiamine, as recommended by @knitty kitty which tremendously helped asthma.

Perhaps you'll need to mix your own cocktails?

Your son has two positive blood tests for celiac disease, plus a positive biopsy for it...why hasn't your doctor diagnosed him with celiac disease, which is the most likely diagnosis based on the test results you shared? The next step should be a gluten-free diet, which your doctor already recommended.

I am glad to hear you are not taking acid blocking meds as they increase gut PH which inhibits mineral absorption which, in turn, often causes the body to rob it's own bones of the calcium it needs for various metabolic processes. I was asking about that because acid reflux is very common in the celiac community.
