Does anyone know how I can find out if my medication is gluten-free?

It is Propoxyphene-N 100 W/APAP 650 Tabs - The generic for Darvocet. The manufacturer is QUALITEST. I found a gluten-free drug list that listed this drug (Propoxyphene-N) but it had a different manufacturer. Do I have to contact the mfr?

Thanks :)

The Clan Thompson Drug List says:

Darvocet is "UNKNOWN" because suppliers change all the time.

Qualitest is a mfg listed, but not this drug.

SO, I would tell pharmacist that they MUST find out for you.

Good luck. I am Jewish, not practicing much, live in Virginia. Don't keep Kosher have enough problems with gluten-free, let alone trying to keep parev dietary restrictions! I travel too much for my job and have a horrendous time staying gluten-free on travel - and I normally do not succeed completely.

This gluten-free thing is a real mitzvah to one's health.

Franceen - Thanks! I am not Kosher, either - But I don't eat pork or shellfish and I try not to combine dairy and meat when possible. You're right about gluten-free being a mitzvah to one's health!

How confusing re: Darvocet. I guess I will, contact the pharmacy, and then also contact Qualitest.

How annoying!

Thansk for the help

I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.

It's great to hear that eliminating gluten has helped alleviate symptoms like eye burning, which is a significant and positive change. The first and most important step is to ensure you're consuming enough protein throughout the day to support muscle repair and growth, which can be challenging with a busy schedule. Since you're already physically active at work, adding focused strength training just 2-3 times per week can make a major difference. Bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups (modified if needed), and lunges, or using resistance bands at home, are excellent, efficient places to start. Remember, consistency with these short sessions and prioritizing post-workout recovery, including good sleep and hydration, are just as crucial as the workouts themselves. It's a smart, gradual process at any age.

Trader Joe's carries a good variety of affordable gluten-free foods like bagels, hamburger buns, pasta, etc. I like Franz Gluten Free bread, which is available at my local Costco. Food For Life and Little Northern Bakehouse (advertisers here) also make excellent gluten-free breads. Costco also sells gluten-free pizzas, crackers, gravy, etc.
