I missed it!

Hey, I went drag racing last night & got runner up!

Nope, you didnt miss it...just need to refresh your page...hit F5.

Cool on the drag racing!! Do you get anything for runner up??

I'm quoting myself! Not only do I have to STOP going to bed at 8:00, I may have to quite premature posting...after this I noticed the discussion on how TheDave stole Rachel's picture...um, the only picture I saw were the cute puppies...so Rachel, I wasn't talking about you when I wrote this comment.

ROFL

Too funny Donna

I must say....I sure am glad that whole ordeal is over with.

this is the message I keep getting when I do the photo:

You are not allowed to upload that type of file as an avatar or personal photo

Debbie...is the file in Jpeg format? Most of the pics I have stored on my computer arent in the right format so I'm not able to use them. If I want to use a pic I always have to rescan it and make it a Jpeg file. Maybe someone else knows more about this.

I'm sure there's an easier way to change the file format but I'm not too knowledgeable in this area. Maybe if you ask in the Technical support forum someone will be able to help??

Rachel that picture of you is absolutely beautiful!

As to going to the Bristol race.. lucky you!!

Our home in Florida is about 3 miles outside Disney. It sleeps 10 comfortably and it is way cheaper than any of the hotels in the area. It has a full kitchen area so you dont have to eat out every night. That alone saves a lot of money.

If you want to see it.. you can check it out at www.lynvillas.com

This photo is of Mike before celiac took him down for the count. He was 21 and extremely hunky. I met him a few years after this photo and he was starting to gain & be "chubby."

The photo is of him on a destroyer in the US Navy patrolling the Viet Nam coast, defending an aircraft carrier. They were out in ocean for many weeks and their only outlet for fun was playing cards and working out in gym. Mike doesn't play cards.....as you can tell.

Okay...finally got an avatar loaded. This is My wife Bobbi and I at our resort on the Mayan Riveria January 2006.

Hope it turns out okay.

Debbie...glad to see you've got it all figured out. ;)

Have I seen a pic of you and hubby before? Was there a pic in the newspaper when they ran that article on Celiac Disease?? For some reason I thought there was.

Hi Everyone- Went to an oyster roast yesterday and listened to beach music-so relaxing...must have a zinc defiency since I ate about 50 or so. So good :P

Watched " My Fair Lady" last night on TCM - Rachel that picture reminds me of Audrey Hep.

Andrea- That baby is precious

Rinne- "Mis-Tints? I need to find out about that. What shade is the floor? Sounds wonderful. Went to Japan on business many years ago - Toyoko was very clean but something about the food left me with the C.

Patti and Rinne- I would love to see pics. Both sound nice.

Susan don't be sad please. Did you see Jagged Edge? Think of him as Jeff Bridges and you know what her friend said about him, right?

Donna- That Spa! Yes, and be pampered and beautified from head to toe. Took a train to NY and really enjoyed that.

Julie-Love the beach it is so beautiful...Momma Goose is having a get together next month at Nags Head please come - Can anyone make it? It would be so fantastic to meet and get together. I really hope some of you will be able to make it.

One thing I would love to do is learn how to be better on the computer and the camera also. Take care.

Lee - did not see Jagged Edge - no wait - probably saw it years ago, do not remember....what did they say about the guy?

I LOVE OYSTERS.....an oyster roast - how fantastic!

too sad to even go to church today. now THAT, my friends, is sad. But don't worry....it will get better, always does. symptoms of glutening today, though - ugh. there was a NEW kind of nugget that I ate - a mystery ingredient I am looking into, my friend took the bag wtih her so will look into it when she calls.

wait - this is R2 - only happiness here.....will go elsewhere to whine..... ;)

Ryan - great picture - what a cute couple. And did you say "OUR" resort on the Mayan coast? what is that? do you own a resort? can we all go? ha ha ha

I missed church today also. The pastor had surgery and is recouperating and there is crazy guy lurking so one of the members called and said if he shows up to duck under the pew- I'll pray he leaves town. It is a small church kinda like "Mitford" don't know if you read those cute books about the pastor and his little congregation ...

He said Forget him - he was trash. It is a good one to see when getting over a guy. (He uses a few bad words).

Can't you come over to Nags Head with the Momma Goose get together? No time to be sad there.

Look back but don't stare, Love, Lee

Lindalee, your evening sounds like it was a lot of fun :) .....have not had oysters before and not sure I am brave enough to ty them

SusieQ- HUGS :):):):):) I am thinking of you hoping you are doing ok. Sorry about the additional suckiness of the glutening. If it is not one thing, it's everything.....Let the happiness of the ville make you laugh and smile and get your mind of things for a little while.

Yes, Ryan, do tell....what is this about "Your" resort??????

is there some kind of crazy stalker at your church? :o makes things interesting....assuming he's harmless. just say extra prayers of protection!

"look back but don't stare" - - that is so good and I"ve never heard it!

MOmma Goose might be slightly mad at me for my instructions on burping post last night in her "how do you burp" thread. Got way too goofy - - I am a superior burper - it's a gift - and so I erased my whole post today.:lol::lol: I would love to go to Nag's Head! I'm clear on the other coast, though......

The pastor had to have him locked up for stealing his vehicle and other things and he threatened to get even so please keep the pastor in your prayers. He is an angel and so good to me.

Momma Goose is probably stressed. You have lots of time to make it to the Nags Head Celiac get together-sure wish you could.

Yes, you did. Wall Street Journal 12/9/05 issue.

I will change this photo when I scan our anniversary photo in.

Momma Goose is STRESSED. We have decided to down size and sell our house. We have found another that we like every much but it is much smaller, likewise price. But it's like putting 10 lbs of spinach into a 5lbs bag....:blink: And my GERD is acting up like hell fire. Meeting with a Realitor tomorrow to see if others think our home is as valuable as we do :(

If it wasn't so hard to get off Lexipro, I'd wish for it back. :(

Sorry Susan, if I appeared snippy. I was in so much discomfort that it was hard to breath, much less laugh at everyone who could belch. Everyone was belching on line and I just needed just one to feel better.

Still belchless, Lisa

Awww, Lisa, sorry to hear you are still helium filled..... :P

Try what I do. When I get bad gas, it is the kind that cuts my breath off if I try to breath ever so slightly.....

I lay down on the floor and do postural positioning. By that, I mean lay down on the floor on your back for 3 minutes, rollover onto your right side with your arms above your head, stay like that for 3 minutes, roll over onto your tummy for 3 minutes, then onto your left side for 3 minutes. The postural positioning helps tremendously in moving the gas through your tract. I don't know if it is the same with you, but the really weird thing with me is when I get gas like that, if it relieve it that way by doing the postural positioning (meaning it coming out the other end), it kind of opens up a door for the gas to come out the other way too...... Told you I was waaaaayyyyyyy weird!!!!

Hugs.

Karen, I've heard of that method over 10 years ago. A co worker told me about it.

Julie, I used to eat them with saltines but now I just eat them with lots of lemon and either drawn butter or cocktail sauceand horseradish. I like raw and steamed. Try the steamed first. They are so good! :P

Lisa, Making the decision is the hardest part so try to go with the flow. Believe me this will simplyfy your life :D:D:D

Karen-

you do not sound weird to me at all. I do the crziest things to get gas out of my system. I have tons of weird stretching routines- sometimes they actually work sometimes they just shift the gas around causing a different area of my body to feel pain.

I've been doing it for years. In fact, I probably would have gone out of my mind with gas pain if I hadn't discovered that. I used to go into the boardroom after lunch and close the door and lay down on the floor and do it. Everyone knew to stay clear of the boardroom from 12:45 to 1:00 p.m.!!!!!

I hardly ever had any kind of gas (top and bottom) until about 6 months to a year before my Celiac diagnosis. Now I get the bottom only. I was always so polite during my marriage until this started and now I just let them rip. My hubby can't believe I have gotton so crude, but boy does it feel good LOL.

Love your photo of the twins, Karen.

Rachel, as far as the drag racing goes.....I am in the trophy division so I get just a trophy. I have so much fun though. Bill is in the division where they actually get cash. Bill, his dad & I race on Saturdays & our daughter loves it too. It's something I never thought I'd like but after I did it once....I am hooked.

Thank you everyone for the compliments on my little one Colin. He is without a doubt a miracle baby. He sure showed me that miracles can happen everyday.

Andrea your little one is beautiful also!!!!

That oyster roast sounds great. I used to love fried oysters! Absolutely wonderful. I havent tried them roasted yet... maybe soon. I dont think I am up to raw though... not that daring yet

Every year we have at my house what we call a fish fry. We have yet to have anything there that is fried though. We start with roasted clams and garlic butter, followed by a large pot of mussels steamed with wine and leek (this year we might try them marinara again), again followed by a large pot of steamed king crab legs. And usually there is no room for anything else!!! Last year we tried a new receipe from the food network called Shrimp Vincente.. it is out of this world.. with avacado in it.. wow!

Just a trophy??? Trophy's are an excellent prize! I've gotten the tiniest trophies....some for 3rd place even but they still meant the world to me and I displayed them proudly in my room. :D

I've never gotten cash for anything...just little trophies, ribbons, t-shirts...stuff like that. I have alot of softball t-shirts cuz thats what they pass out to the winning team.

I'm kind of embarrassed to ask this but what exactly is drag racing? What are you racing in and where....on a track??

Because of my brother’s supplement regime and my and my husband’s known gene mutations, all of the kids (26,28,30 - I should not call then kids) take PureTherapro RX Methyl Multi without iron, the MagTech magnesium supplement with 3 forms of magnesium, and D3.  I am still trying to find a Fish Oil supplement for them that comes in smaller size capsules.  I take the Metagenics lemon flavored Fish Oil Epa Dha 1000mg gels and the kids call them horse pills.  They want something 1/2 that size bur don’t have a fishy taste.

Thank you for the response. I didn't think of  the things you presented but they make a ton of good sense. I'm in the USA so no stipend for a formal dx. With the added cost of gluten free food, I wish there was some program to help. I bought a loaf of gluten free bread that cost $7.99 and my usual multi grain is $2.57!  I REALLY felt the doctors taking you more seriously comment. That is a huge issue. I just had fairly extensive blood work done, none of which was testing for celiac, and everything came back normal. I felt completely dismissed by my doctor even though my symptoms remained unchanged. As a matter of fact, Celiac disease wasn't even on my regular doctors radar. I think after studying the symptoms and comparing them with my symptoms that should have been one of his top differential diagnoses. I will follow your advice and wait until after the bx to begin eating gluten free. I'm fairly certain of the diagnosis at this point because 4 days of no gluten has made a difference. I feel somewhat stronger, nowhere near as anxious or irritable, urinating every 2 hours instead of every 30 minutes to an hour and much less nausea.  If anybody has any other words of wisdom, advice, really anything, please let me know..I'm kind of alone in this.

Yes, some people with Celiac do react to quinoa.  I know i do.  Apparently, two different "breeds" of quinoa can stimulate the immune system. Read here... Variable activation of immune response by quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) prolamins in celiac disease https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22760575/#:~:text=Cultivars Ayacuchana and Pasankalla stimulated, for patients with celiac disease. And some of us react to corn (maize) as well. Maize prolamins could induce a gluten-like cellular immune response in some celiac disease patients https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24152750/   P.S. @Brook G have you thought about getting a genetic test done for known Celiac genes?
    • Brook G
People who are Celiac don't have a gluten response to Quinoa, but some people who are gluten intolerant do.  I react to quinoa just like I do to gluten.  Freddies/Kroger came out with their own gluten-free Bread and I didn't think to read the ingredients.  I couldn't figure out where I would have gotten gluten in my diet until I read the ingredients in their bread... Thanks for the additional information. I was thinking of asking you if your daughter was taking methylated vitamins since she has the MTHFR gene but you beat me to it. To answer the question you posed in your original post, as I explained, celiac disease does not damage the colon but the lining of the small bowel. If the damage is pronounced enough and the doc doing it is experienced, yes, the damage done to the lining of the small bowel can be spotted with the naked eye.
