Well I had my first outback experience! Yummy, I had the alice springs chicken with a baked potato. Now I don't usually EVER eat things smothered in cheese and bacon. BUT! I haven't eaten a decent meal out since I was diagnosed last month, so I was all over that like a rat on a cheeto!!!!! The server said "do you mind if I ask what gluten is" ugh, I didn't want to get into it so I just briefly described it to her. I got a tad paranoid, so I asked the manager (who just happened to pass by the table) if he could make sure my ticket was marked gluten free. She had no way of knowing when she brought the bread that I have celiac, but she almost slammed it right down in front of me, I caught a big whiff and it smelled so good :( To sum it up thanks to all for the advice, I had a great experience, I left fat, dumb, and happy.... :D ( and most important not sick!)

Oooohhhh... Glad you had such a great experience (minus the bread incident). That's become one of my all-time favorite restaurants over the past year. Yum. Did you have the chocolate thunder?

Nope next time I will though...I was stuffed, plus I had my kids, I didn't want to get them all sugar buzzed before bed.... :blink:

Ah... We made that mistake with Tori once. Never again! However, I have to admit, the chocolate thunder is worth the hyperactivity. He he he.

Yay! I was just going to dig up that other thread to ask how your dinner went.

I'm glad that everything went well, despite your server's lack of knowledge on the gluten-free menu.

Definitely get the Thunder next time - or at least bring it home with you for later!!!

:blink: Okay, we went again tonight. I was too busy to put together a huge fuss tonight, plus this damned insomnia has me wiped out! Anyhow....the food took forever, so being a server before I knew they screwed up somehow. When the food finally came we had 2 managers hovering over us offering us all this free dessert, and our waitress just disappeared from that point on. It all turned out okay in the long run so no big deal. I'm glad they took the time to correct whatever it was that happened instead of bringing it out to the table with a bun on it....I think that may have been irritating...and why every time we go, do they put the little cutting board with bread on it right in front of me? Lol....Eating out certainally is interesting now isn't it...

Oh I got that last time I went! I also normally wouldn't order chicken smothered with cheese and bacon, and to be honest had never even glanced at it on the menu. But after hearing everyone on here rave about it I decided to give it a try. YUMMY!!!!! So not something I would think I'd like but damn that is good! LOL!

The first time I went I had the alice chicken, yummmyyyy :P I actually made it at home and it was very easy to do. The honey mustard sauce I got was frenchs, not as good as the outbacks but it was good enough :D

If that honey mustard sauce is the same as their honey mustard salad dressing.. you can get the receipe on the site topsecretreceipes.com. I made it last week and it was out of this world. Someone posted the thread on here about that web site.. you can get a lot of receipes free, some you have to pay for.. but the salad dressings at the outback are free!

Sure.. here is the recipe

Outback Steakhouse Honey Mustard Dressing.. I am not sure if its the exact same thing.. I havent had the real one in a while.. but here is the recipe that I made

1/2 cup mayo

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons dijon mustard

Combine all ingredients. Cover and chill.

Thats it. pretty simple. I really like it. Like I said, I am not sure how close it is to the Outback dressing.. but I find this great.

LOL.. you have been an Outback cook for 10 years and did not even know it! You put it over chicken too?? How do you prepare the chicken?? sounds yummy

I make these great chicken tenders in the oven..I mix the gluten-free gorilla crunch cereal and gluten-free corn flakes, crush them up nice and fine add a little salt, pepper, garlic powder..then dip the chicken tenders in honey, coat with the cereal then bake in the oven till done and crispy[high oven, around 375-400]..I put them on a cookie sheet with the non stick Reynolds wrap, spray extra cooking spray cause the honey is so sticky..then make the dip on the side to dunk..YUMMY!!

I´m glad you have good experiences with Outback. I went on wednesday this week and I almost cry when I saw that amazing bread on the table. I took a deep breath and ask for the gluten free menu. I order the outback special with a cesar salad...... when the salad came.... it has croutons in it, I wanted to kill someone. They change it and brought one without bread. For dessert: instead of "the thunder", I ordered the sundae and it was unbelivable!!!!.

      Thank you. I already cut out dairy and eggs because I found out I was having a problem with them. To be honest I’m just getting worn out 😂

      Hi Kitty, thank you for your e mail,  I have seen a nutritionist who seemed to be happy with the food diary I had been keeping and nothing was mentioned about extra vitamins, and I’m still using milk etc . The steroids seem to be working and everything is functioning as it should however,  the course of tablets finish at the end of February and I have an appointment with the consultant early April probably followed by another endoscopy, as far as I’m aware I have not been tested for vitamin B and will definitely discuss it with the doctor on my next visit.

      It might be understandable to say "friends or family weeded me or you out of their lives". Some people are fearful of getting out of their comfortable known lives and having to make changes to accommodate another.   If they are too uncomfortable to walk a mile with me, I shake the dust off my feet and journey on.  They're just not ready to learn that lesson.  But you confidently keep going on your journey.  They can catch up later.

      You might also be sensitive to other things while you are healing. Dairy, for example. It won't harm you from a celiac standpoint but is inflammatory and could be bothering you. Have you been keeping a food & symptom journal? Might be worth it for a week to see if you notice something you are eating prior to the times you feel your worst. I hope you start feeling better soon.
