What Does Your Username Mean?

ravenwoodglass Mentor

It was the name of my stained glass business when I had one  because I like ravens (we used to get them in our pine trees and I took pictures and did a glass piece from one), walking in the woods (when I still could) and of course I love working with glass.

Mine isn't so exciting. I couldn't figure out what our username should be for a certain something so I came up with jams and our last name. J is for my son Josh, A is for me, M is for my dd Megan, and S is for dh Shawn. It was the only thing I could figure out at the time and it has just stuck!!

Ravenwood and Lkelly8--I've often wondered about your names--now I know! :D

Mine is where I live (love Jersey!) and instead of using "girl"--as in jerseygirl--I used angel just cause I like them

My user name is the nickname my husband gave me. I collect anything 'penguin' and love feeding and watching wild birds. In my next life, when I have lots of time and a maid, I'll have an aviary full of cockateils. For now I'll just feed red winged blackbirds who land on my hand to eat peanuts and other songbirds who visit our 7 feeders, 2 birdhouses and large birdbath, with a remote controlled sprinkle attachment. The birds think it's a water fountain/shower head just for their convenience. ;)

BURDEE

I love birds, too. We have four (one is mine, they all think they're mine). Our cockatiel whistles Andy Griffith -- and whistles very beautifully. My bird is a cockatoo ... he can talk, but he squaks really loud in the morning (the sun won't come up without him). One morning he said, "Hi baby, Howya doin, I love you, c'mere." It was hysterical, we've said all those things to him, but never in that order or together. Hmmm, guess I should have been creative and used my bird's name as my screen name!

That is actually very clever!

Makes me feel a little less goofy for ensuring that my 3rd child's name had a 4 letter nickname so he would match the rest of us.

Another Jersey girl! But....you LOVE it????? LOL

North or South (because there IS a difference!) :P

There sure is a difference  I live South now, but for a year lived North (Warren County <_< )

I do love it here--we've lived in different states, and even in different parts of NJ--the afore mentioned North, and also Glouster Co and Marlton. We're in NW Burlington Co. now.

How about you?

Interesting....I grew up in Gloucester County, and now I live in Burlington County. Not *too* far from Marlton, but a little more toward the shore.

I work in Trenton so I probably drive by your house every day. I'll wave on the way home tonight! :D

Girl Ninja Newbie

Girl Ninja or Girl Head are hubby's affectionate nicknames for me. If he has a specific reason for choosing those, I don't know what it is. What a weirdo, eh? It's cool, though. It could be soo much worse. ;)

kaycee - LMAO! That's awesome. My grandma has 4 daughters. Her youngest is my aunt Barb. She's in her 40's now and to this day whenever my grandma writes her name on anything she writes Barbarbara. We've all tried to fix it. She's really glad my grandma wasn't the one who wrote it on her birth certificate.

Rinne - How do you know that? Is it another language? How do you pronounce it? I'm fascinated that I learned a new word.

Jestgar Rising Star

I used to work at a company where the "important" people got an official 4 letter signature of the first 2 letters of their first, and last name. I wasn't important, but mine would have been "JeSt" which I think suits me. Gar is the first half of my NSO's first name. Even though I divorced him, I liked the name combination so I'm keeping it!

I'm not sure I want to know what either of those mean.

2Boys4Me=I have 2 boys. 4 if you count DH and the dog.

Floridian - There's a typo under your avatar. I'm certain it should say me and my baby, not grandbaby.

Yah, she doesn't look like a granmother does she? A little older than me....of course I'm an older mother.

Now if I look like that when I have a grandbaby, then, wow. :P I'll be old and wrinkled by that time. Oh wait, I forgot about my stepsons.....maybe I won't be so old an wrinkled. The one that's married isn't in a hurry to start a family though.

My heritage and my first name :)

I am also another jersey girl.. but obviously my name has nothing to do with it. Had to add my two cents into the jersey thing. Central Jersey... shore.

My name happens to come from ummm.. Tinkerbell... another obvious one.. from the famed Peter Pan. I love Disney. Besides it is the name of my beautiful cat. She is a ragdoll, and I named her Tinkerbell, before it was in vogue to do so. (before Paris Hilton did it too)

Swt is an abbreviation for Sweetie. My dog we had to give to another loving family when we moved and had a baby. She was a bit too hyper for a baby to be around. She was a rescue we got. She was hit by a car in north jersey, and dragged underneath it. She was in a body cast when we first got her. Miss her incredibly.. :(

But onto better things today... have a great day all!!

M-m-m wouldn't you like to know.... B)

It's just that we appear to be roughly the same age, and my kids are almost 7 and almost 9. You just don't appear to be a "little ol' granny".

Ick. My dad and Ty are all stretched out and disgusting on my new avatar.

Huh. The thingy said the update to Ty in his hockey didn't work and there he is. But really...for a brief moment in time there was a digusting "Ty & Cy" photo.

Yep, I agree. Until somebody pointed out that it said that it was your grandbaby, I assumed the baby was your own baby.

I only hope nobody thinks I look like a 'little ol' granny myself'.

In the US you don't need a referal to see a specialist if you are self pay. PPO you can go directly to any specialist or doctor you prefer. HMO you’ll choose a primary doctor to manage all your care. Pricing of the insurance will vary, as will prescriptions coverage.

Welcome to the forum, @lsky! In Canada I believe your healthcare system is totally socialized so I doubt if you have the option of making direct appointments with specialists. In the U.S. it is becoming more and more that way as most people here now are covered by some government managed healthcare network and almost all providers and specialists are part of those networks. Here and there you will find independent providers that take private pay only but it is the exception. Both in Canada and in the U.S. I believe there is a concerted effort to always keep the PCP in the loop.

I have had celiac disease since i was 7 and i've recently had worsening symptoms, I live in canada and the doctors right now are horrible so my general doctor never puts in my referrals or she does it wrong and i have to wait months-years for an answer. I was wondering I already have a Gastroenterologist, could i just contact him and ask to book an upcoming appointment? i'm not sure if it's different in canada or not.

Welcome to the forum @Juliana82! Bleeding where? Thanks for the articles on seronegative celiac disease. As I recall, one of our moderators is seronegative and has been faithful to draw our attention to this phenomenon at different times. The heterozygous factor seronegative celiac disease is an important factoid I believe.

With such a weak positive, his got may or may not be cleared in three months. My daughter when diagnosed at the age of seven had a TTG score of 388. It was 18 months on a gluten-free diet before her levels returned to normal. it seems to me that when you started something that allows your son to gain weight, as he clearly needs to do, you may want to keep doing it.  Sometimes you just need to figure out the science of it as you go along. Have you been tested?  That’s how I found out I had celiac disease, was after my daughter was diagnosed, and the recommendation given to me was that all of her first-degree relations should be tested as well. I came back with a weak positive when I was on a largely, though not entirely, gluten-free diet (cooking for my newly diagnosed child). good luck with everything.
