OK, apparently the rest of yas all have lives, but it's pouring rain here, and I have a bunch of work today, so I'm employing my favorite procrastination method - you guys. I'll just chatter on by myself for a while...

Yesterday on the ferry I sat with a woman I only talk to occasionally and she invited me to join her commute group (we all travel in packs) at the Mexican restaurant on the island. Since I had met the others at least once, I figured, why not? So I'm talking to this woman and her hubby and it turns out that they're trained actors/performers, and he actually runs one of the professional theaters in the city. (the interesting part is coming up, I promise. Although I'm not promising that it'll be that interesting.)

Anyway, it turns out that, as part of his job, he gets tickets to 2 or 3 performances a week in the city. He tries to go, but sometimes it's just too much, especially for his wife, since she has a full time job and wants to spend her evenings with her son. (seriously, something worth reading has got to be coming up)

Anyway, before I knew all that I was telling them that a person from our theater group was in Hello, Dolly and I would love to see it but I just couldn't afford the tickets. (almost there. The paragraphs are getting shorter (although it seems that the commentary is getting longer) so it's got to be close)

So he turns to his wife and says "do you want to see Dolly?" She makes the frowny face and shakes her head, so he looks at me and says "do you want to see Dolly with me?" :o:o:D

(that was the exciting part. you might want to re-read it for the full effect, now that you know the punch line)

So Thursday evening (unless his wife changes her mind) I've got a date with another woman's husband to go to the theatah.

WooHoo!!

Well....all of a sudden, the plans have changed. Yesterday I stopped in my tracks outside one of our local art shops.....there I saw these big series of metal works, meant to be hung against a wall. I bought them immediately, not even knowing if they will lie flat against the siding, if they will completely rust within a month. . . ...

this sounds so neat. can't wait to see a photo

WooHoo!!

It was worth the wait Jess. What fun you'll have.

It's just beautiful here today maybe in the 70's or high 60's for sure.

went and did a garden tour and crocus's, winter acolyte and snow drops are up.

spring is in the air today and it's wonderful

Yes we are.

I was on a road trip with a guy who had goose bowels. It was the looooongest car ride I've ever been on. We had to stop every 1/2 hour or so, with very short notice. I tried to keep reminding myself that however annoying it was to me, it was far more unpleasant for him.

Although it was entirely his fault. (I've had two full pots of coffee, by the way.)

He had disrupted his normal functioning by consuming a 5 pound block of cheese in 3 days, and then tried to remedy the situation by chowing down on most of a bottle of vitamin C (which is a laxative).

He's now an MD in Florida.

I wonder what his position on vitamins is?

He was my study partner in grad school. We both brewed beer at home and on the rare weekend when we didn't have homework or tests we'd consume, oh, quite a bit of beer. He had been a hard core alcoholic in his youth and was still functional around three in the morning after we'd been drinking since 4 that afternoon. Eventually I'd pass out in the cat's water dish, he'd throw a blanket over me and his wife would wake me up in the morning with a cup of coffee.

Great times

Well, this eyebrow-raising amount of beer consumption, coupled with his hyper-goose bowel action, does seem to support the celiac suspicion, duddin' it?

Hey all! Just stopped in to brag that it's 70+ partly sunny and I'm playing in the dirt! :D:D:D T-shirt weather for sure! Am draining the pond so I can replace the liner! Really want to do it on the cheap......but that's why it needs replacing this year. Figgered it'd last 3 or 4 years....and probably would have if the deer weren't so thirsty! Been transplanting plants away from the pond....man! Strawberry plants are already greening up. Moved them where I can keep an eye on them better (rabbits seem to like them).

Jess...pretty exciting about the date! Free is GOOD!

Em....can't wait to see your outdoor art! I love to go to art and craft fairs!! It' probably a very good thing that I work most weekends, or I'd be spending a fortune. OR I look at things and say...I can do that! Already have too many projects waiting for me to have time and ambition. Sooo many things I want to do. I need Readers Digest to hurry up and give me my millions!!:lol::lol:

Here's to spring (clink)! Wish this weather would stay until summer :(

Pah-tay...I'm glad you shopped and no "goose bowels"! I seem to have developed a psychological thing with shopping and having to run to the bathroom. I can't seem to go into a Walmart without needing to find "the room" within 10-15 minutes! Maybe I need some hypnosis!

Scott makes a good point about the prednisone. It has a general suppressing effect on the immune system. Don't misunderstand me. In view of your husband's several autoimmune afflictions, it would seem to be an appropriate medication therapy but it will likely invalidate endoscopy/biopsy test results for celiac disease.
    • Scott Adams
I also want to mention that using prednisone would likely also make the endoscopy results invalid. This steroid will cause gut healing and could mask the damage caused by celiac disease.

This sounds to me like histamine intolerance. Some foods have more or less histamine. processed or aged meats, fermented food like yoghurt or kimchi and bread (yeast), spinach, eggplant and mushroom are high in histamine. Other foods like tomatoes are histamine liberators, they encourage your mast cells to release histamine, which can also trigger the reactions you describe, flu like symptoms, joint pain, urinary tract irritation, rash, stomach upset, nausea, diarrhoea & fatigue. I had liver pain like you describe, as part of the intolerance is usually a sluggish liver that makes processing all the histamine difficult. There are multiple possible root causes of histamine intolerance, usually it’s a symptom of something else. In my case, leaky gut (damaged gut wall)caused by undiagnosed celiac, but for others it’s leaky gut caused by other things like dysbiosis. Some people also experience histamine intolerance due to mould exposure or low levels of DAO (the enzyme that breaks down histamine in the gut). I’d try a low histamine diet & if that doesn’t improve symptoms fully, try low oxalate too. As others have suggested, supplements like vitamin d, b, l-glutamine to support a healthy gut & a good liver support supplement too. If you’re in a histamine flare take vitamin c to bowel tolerance & your symptoms will calm down (avoid if you find you have oxalate intolerance though). Best of luck

@GeoPeanut, milk is one of the better sources of iodine. Iodine is known to exacerbate dermatitis herpetiformis. Many people find that a low iodine diet helps them avoid dermatitis herpetiformis outbreaks. So, maybe the fact that you have limited your dairy intake of late is helping with that.
    • GeoPeanut
Hi, I'm new here. Sorry for your troubles.herenis a thought to mull over. I recently was diagnosed with celiac disease,  and hashimoto's and dermatitis herpetiformis after getting covid 19. I eat butter, and 1/2 cup of Nancy's yogurt daily. I stopped all other dairy and  dermatitis herpetiformis is gone! I also make grass fed beef bone broth to help with myopathy that has occurred.
