Do you think it could swim??

This was a huge concern for Jack.....he did NOT want to kill the wee thing, but he didn't think he could get it out the cat door without it squirming out of his fingers.....the toilet was quite close, so in a mad, stress-laden decision, that's where it went. . . . .....

I'm sure it could swim. . . .....just not fer too long. I think it's all kind of bugging Jack, now....post-traumatic guilt, and all.

"You did that mouse a huge favour, Jack!", I've been saying reassuringly, "He would have faced a horrid, long, torturous death at the claws of Bryce, had you not stepped in. He was probably half-dead when you got to him, anyway".

Jack is just looking sad and resigned :( , quietly saying, "I dunno......he was squirming pretty hard". . . . . ......

HEY! It's just a mouse! :unsure::huh:<_<

jerseyangel Proficient

Poor Jack :( I understand how he feels, but I do agree that the mouse probably would have died as a result of the bite anyway--it just would have taken longer.

Pheel better, Jack :D

okay well.......my dad was THE smartest man I've ever known - just tortuously and lethally smart, and hardly liked any people at all - introverted and quiet, he had just a handful of very close friends and, kind of worked himself to an early grave. Loved my mom, worked very hard and excelled in his career, and liked things very quiet and orderly.....he was only a tiny bit sillie, goofy with us sometimes but.....not much. My mom - now as you know Janie is wackl  They really loved each other and loved all the same things, adn I always remember them either sitting in their room with the fire going at night, reading, chatting, watching summat on the telly, or outside in nice weather, sitting on the back patio, drinking wine and holding hands. :)

Wayne.......stepdad....polar opposite!!!! His parents moved to that rip-roarin' Central Valley stink town (dairy stink) called Chowchilla during the Dust Bowl and are literally Dust Bowl Oakies! He is quiet, amiable, simple, works veyr hard and is excelling in the career that he found later in life (real estate), is very kind to us and to all and very loyal, and has never read a book in the whole time my mom's known him (my parents devoured books together), and has not ONE SHRED of sillie. (drives me mum nuts) They love each other very much, but don't love the same things. He is, um, as far right a Republican that you can possibly be. We NEVER discuss politics  But I like him quite a lot.

both are white men, average size, and, I don't think they make ice.

and there you have Soozle's history of the two father figgers in her life *snort*

okay <_< that is NOT the infomercials of which I speak. oh no. That was entertaining, silly, slightly wackl and tongue-in-cheek, no?

I am talking about......the Magic Bullet.....the Jack Lalanne Juicer.....The exercise videos...the fake talk shows, with a "guest" being queried by a "host" about some ridiculous product....the really, really bad ones with the fake audiences who make "ahhhhhhh" noises on command and stare at each other whilst smiling eagerly and nodding their heads

Hilariously boring

the cham cloth video  fantastic.....they remind me of those two guys in Flight of the Conchords

Wow

I just can't figure.......but what DOES it mean and.......

I'm more concerned that it took me.......two days to make the connection that both were named after me mum's husbands

poor Jack! :( yes, tell him the mouse would have had a savage fate at the hands of Kittehs

Jules! nice to see you, though you sound.....quiet. I hope you're feeling okay....a blizzard? we have almost 80 degrees here

Sillies - - some trauma in the orchard, and I don't know the outcome.... :(

We walked into our sneak entrance, and at the very far end (maybe half a mile away) we saw a very large creature pass from orchard to fence, then just stand there....Weez approached cautiously, and I caught up.

Well, it was a very tall dog, maybe 150 pounds, mostly Great Dane, limping badly and...scared to death. Growling fiercely and hair raised at Weez. Very obviously in pain.

It took me 10 minutes to get close to him, very, very slowly.....and another five to get my hand near his collar. so, I finally was able to touch the collar - had to PRAY to read the writing on it as didn't have my glasses! pharking loss of vision  VERY bad in an emergency!

I was finally able to make out the number, adn called......got a little girl with quavery voice who burst into tears when I asked if they had a dog named Louie.....

Louie had been hit by a car this morning, whilst out running with the dad, and ran away....they've been looking for him all day.

So, I met the dad out in front of the orchard, and we ran back to Louie, who freaked out and ran AWAY from his dad, clear out the other exit of the orchard! :o:(:( (is that normal? I can't imagine Weez running away from me in that situation?)

So - I never saw either of them again - they both ran, Louie's foot is mostly likely broken (according to the dad), and they both were running out onto the street when I last saw them.

:(

Oh Sills, I am tempted to drive my car back out there and wait by the man's car, to see what happened but....my heart can't take any bad news. He was the most BEAUTIFUL, big boy, with fearful, solemn, light golden brown eyes.

At least he was running in the direction of home when I left......

gah! I think I'll make a fuzzy now..........

Soooozle! What a sad story. .. . SO good that you were there at the right time, and got the family's phone # and called them......you know, there aren't a lot of people who would do that (can you imagine? ).....

Ya did all you could, Soooze!

jerseyangel Proficient

OMG Suz--it's lucky that you happened upon the poor thing and called the owner. You did do all you could, and more than a lot would. Hopefully, Louie's owner caught up with him and got him to the vet. :) I'm sure that when he was able to get on his trail, he would get to him sooner or later.

Em.....I saw you over on another thread organizing a parade!!! Are you two timin' us, er sumphin???? :P

left them a message to call me - we will see

I just had a glass of wine....no fuzzies today.....but might smoke half a clove in back yard - don't tell anyone

OH!!!!!!!!!!!! Louie's owner just called me!!!!!!! HE IS OKAY!!!!!!!! He ran adn ran and kept running, ran all the way home, got there and ran upstairs into his bed......they took him to the vet and, no broken bones, just a bad bruise and sprain!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Park Service is all in a tizzy. Lots of changes in Law Enforcement (which our department falls under), much of which we are not thrilled about, tho' the reasoning is understandable (I guess). We still don't know the extent of the fallout, so we'll see. Much staff cutting going on. Hours are being cut, re-organized, twiddled with :( . We'll know soon enough. Would like definitive answers so I can make decisions on how to best deal with it all. Hate being left hanging (Andy Rooney pops into my brain to whisper in his nasally voice.."don't you just hate that?" )

Glad to read you all, and am chuckling at the psilliness. Psuess....I love your happy ending! Pah-tay survived the tornado...yay! Knew you would!

Twilight zone mysteries....Steve and Wayne :o ...luv it! (My ex was Steve....not normal.....not black....did not make ice but used a lot of it in mixed drinks :P ......I've known several Waynes....did not like any of them :P )

Karry on all......long live the psilly!

On my Celiac journey and discovered I was also reacting to other types of gluten. The FDA in it's finite wisdom only classifies 'wheat, barley and rye' as the gluten's to be considered when a company tests for and stamps their products as gluten free. I am curious as to how many of you are aware of the other types of glutens? And another question to those on a 'traditional' gluten free diet , who are also still sick and struggling, are you also reacting to these other types of gluten as listed below? NOTE:  The new movement if you want to call it that, is now called 'grain free' and that is the true definition of gluten free. I no longer suffer with ataxia, confusion, anxiety, depression, OCD, Insomnia, ADD, acid reflux, dermatitis herpetiformis, migraines, headaches, and weight issues all due to going 'grain free'. I hope to reach as many of you out there that are still struggling and unaware of what might be setting you off such as my most recent glutening was from a vegan supplement that contained 'magnesium sterate' and 'glucose syrup' both of which are from Zien (zane) gluten at 55%. I was covered in sores that were bleeding, I was seeing squigly lines when I was trying to drive, had acid reflux, insomnia, and nightmares all from the gluten in Corn. Here are the other types of glutens that Celiacs and Gluten Intolerant people also react to: Wheat -Alpha Gliadin Gluten- 69% Rye - Secalinin gluten-30-50% Oats-Avenin gluten -16% Barley-Hordein Gluten -46-52% Millet-Panicin Gluten-40% Corn-Zien Gluten -55% Rice-Orzenin Gluten-5% Sorghum-Kafirin gluten-52% and Teff-Penniseiten Gluten 11%.

I just want to mention again that IF thimerosal is used in a flu vaccine the amount of ethylmercury in a single vaccine dose would be extremely small, typically around 25 micrograms (µg) or less. For context, this is much lower than the levels of methylmercury found in some seafood. Ethylmercury is metabolized and excreted from the body much faster than methylmercury. Its half-life in the blood is about 7 days, compared to methylmercury, which can persist for months. The dose of ethylmercury in vaccines is far below the threshold known to cause toxicity so would not require chelation.

If you have poor reactions to vaccines, preservatives, sugar alcohols and metals, you may be deficient in Thiamine Vitamin B1.  Thiamine is needed in the immune response and production of antibodies.  Thiamine can be depleted by vaccines if you are already low to begin with due to the Malabsorption of Celiac Disease.  Thiamine can be destroyed by sulfide preservatives in vaccines, which can result in the body's poor response to vaccines.  Thiamine also chelates metals which allows those metals to be removed in the feces.  Chelation removes thiamine from the body, resulting in a state of thiamine deficiency.  Sugar alcohols need to be processed through the liver using thiamine.  Again, if you're low in thiamine as many Celiac are because of the Malabsorption of celiac disease, vaccines can be a tipping point, resulting in a thiamine deficient state. High doses of Thiamine required to correct thiamine deficiency states are safe and nontoxic.  Thiamine has no toxicity level.  Thiamine and the other B vitamins need to be taken together because they interact together to sustain health.   References: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25542071/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/

@Pasballard, Keep in mind those gluten free processed snacks are not required to have vitamins and minerals added to them to replace vitamins lost in processing like gluten containing products.   We need the eight essential B vitamins to turn those carbs into energy to fuel our bodies and make enzymes that sustain life.  Sudden weight gain (or weight loss) can be symptomatic of Thiamine Vitamin B1 deficiency.  Thiamine is the B vitamin with the shortest storage time, and so  thiamine deficiency shows up first with vague symptoms like weight gain or loss, fatigue, not sleeping well, achy or cramping muscles, digestive issues and headaches.   Taking vitamin and mineral supplements helps boost your body's ability to absorb these nutrients which keeps our bodies healthy.  B Complex vitamins and Vitamin D (which regulates inflammation) are usually low in people with Celiac disease.  Talk to your doctor and nutritionist about supplementing.
    • knitty kitty
Welcome to the forum, @WildFlower1, Here's an article that explains about the updated gluten challenge guidelines.  Be sure to read the comments below the article. Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Low iron can affect antibody production, causing false negatives on antibody testing.  Do you currently struggle with low iron?   Low Vitamin D can cause amenorrhea, cessation of menstrual periods.   Correcting nutritional deficiencies is a big part of Celiac disease.  We don't absorb well the eight essential B vitamins and other vitamins and minerals like calcium, resulting in osteopenia, hair loss, infertility, and neurological symptoms.  Unfortunately, doctors are not given much training in nutritional deficiencies and don't recognize the connection with the malabsorption of Celiac disease. We get very frustrated here with doctors ordering us to put a harmful substance in our bodies in order for them to say "that makes you sick".   Duh, we know that already. Do try to increase your consumption of gluten for at least two weeks before retesting.  Eat the chewy kinds of breads.  Cookies and cakes don't have as much gluten in them as those chewy artisan breads and thick pizza crusts. I admire your tenacity at continuing the gluten challenge.  Do keep us posted on your progress.  We'll continue to support you on your journey to diagnosis and recovery.
