Her daughter has Celiac. It is amazing how much more we hear things like this as time goes on. Seems everyone knows someone with this......

Raechull! Your crispy socks, undies and jeans . ...... . the big question:

Would they blend?

:o :o :o We should write and suggest he try some of the gluten free breads you can buy! Bet those'll make some serious smoke.

What does PMS really stand for?

You probably don't need hangers for yer shirts.....just stand 'em up in the closet.

In my case, PMS stands for:

Pheet Mighty Swollen

People May Suffer

Pants May Shrink

and

Personalbodilyharm Maycometoanyonefoolishenoughto Startwithme

And just the thought of opening my closet and seeing my clothes standing at attention like "OOOH, pick me, pick me" cracks me right up!:lol:

Well now, I've heard of cotton/wool blend, but this is ridiculified

Yes, that's true. Sad, but true.

It's all over but the cleanin'. The steak on the grill my husband cooked was the best thing prepared in this house today. Only managed to get a two-layer lasagne out of it--lost a few noodles in the shuffle. We'll eat that and the soup during the week, but the white chocolate chip cookie bars I made from Pamela's mix won't likely survive the night.

Time to scoop the bunny cage, change laundry

*note to self...FABRIC SOFTENER!!!

and change the sheets and take a shower and pass out from too much sugar in the cookies.

Good lord, I need a drink.

My husband is all geared up to git-r-dun around here, but all I hear when he talks about it is "Blah, Blah, Blah--expensive. Blah, Blah, Blah--hard work."

Went to the home store yesterday to get the rest of the insulation (which I finished today :self-satisfiedsigh:) Also went to the new petstore where I found grain free kitty food. :D

What I don't get, is why the grain free stuff also has to be ultra sh-shi. Like my cat cares if it's made from free range, organic ducks that have been hand fed and given nightly massage while listening to Mozart. Just give me the road kill stew, without wheat - cats'll love it just as much.

road-kill without wheat, pseriously, Alfred Kit loves that.......we found some very posh canned cat food at the dollar store, fiddy cents each, with WHOLE pieces of chicken breast in it, very pure ingredients, really almost like people food.

Alfie turns his nose up at it, the little scalawag <_<

But Weezee loves it :)

Jess needs grain-free kitty food. Here a few ideas for dry food:

Wellness CORE (50% protein from turkey, chicken, whitefish and salmon);

Merrick BG (Before Grain) (three single-protein formulas: chicken, tuna & salmon ~36% protein);

Taste of the Wild (42% protein from chicken, venison, salmon and ocean fish).

Nope, you don't need to get out more, Mimms. I made up the term Orange Fuzzy myself. Or, maybe a friend did? I think Fluffy named it. (and I named Fluffy  )

I make screwdrivers, but I have this super-fantastic (and rather ancient) juicer - and it makes the orange juice turn out frothy.....so we call them Fuzzies. ;) I had a picture of them up in my av for a while.....may have to put it up again in recognition of the season coming to a close.

Mygawd, you haven't lived until you've had one of my Fuzzies, in peak orange season!

My friend the Wackl Miss G (Gail) had one, was truly doubting how a screwdriver could be so fabulous. A cynic was she, until she had one. ;)

She sucked it down. Silence after the fist few sips. Then, thrust her shaking hand at me (I am not making this up), and said, "my God......it's like the Kiss of God.....once you have it, you're never the same.......but you always need more and more........."

No one can quite explain the magic of the Fuzzy........it just.....is.

All right.....I'm calling the Guv'nuh to kill my pests. First thing in the morning.

Got the Wellness, actually. Didn't see the other two. Went to the new pet chain store that opened near the chain home store (and the chain super cheap store wherein I do not shop). There is a pet store on the island, and I like the idea of supporting local businesses, but I just don't believe that the prices have to be marked up that much to support the business. I think they assume people will pay extra to have the local shopping bag (and many people do), but I'm not in the upper 80th percentile of income, so I support the less expensive, local-job-stealing store.

When I'm on the computer, I can watch TV through the crack between the computer cupboard door and the cabinet. There's a plant on the table right there so I'm kinda looking through the foliage. It's like watching House in the jungle.

Does it taste like black licorice?  It said it was chewable.  I do not like that flavor.     Since the burn at the back of my throat is there everyday, I usually only take something when it is unbearable and keeping me from ADL especially sleep.

Your concerns about Nando's cross-contamination practices are valid and important for the celiac community. It's disappointing that Nando's does not have stricter protocols for children's portions, especially given the risk of cross-contact with gluten-containing items like garlic bread. Cooking gluten-free items on shared surfaces, even if cleaned, is not safe for individuals with celiac disease, as even trace amounts of gluten can cause harm. While the adult butterfly chicken may be a safer option, the inconsistency in practices for children's meals is concerning. It's frustrating that Nando's headquarters did not take responsibility, but sharing your experience raises awareness and may encourage them to improve their protocols. Consider reaching out to celiac advocacy organizations to amplify your concerns and push for better standards. Always double-check with staff and emphasize the importance of avoiding cross-contamination when dining out.

I had this symptom when I was diagnosed. Are you sure that your diet is 100% gluten-free?  Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The good news is that after your gut heals (for most people who are 100% gluten-free this will take several months to two years) you may be able to slowly add some these items back into your diet after the damaged villi heal. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
    • Scott Adams
Based on your results, it seems unlikely that you have celiac disease. A negative endoscopy and the absence of HLA-DQ2/DQ8 genes (the primary genetic markers for celiac) strongly suggest you do not have the condition. However, the elevated TTG-IgA (22) could indicate a temporary immune response or another issue, such as a different autoimmune disorder, intestinal infection, or even a lab anomaly. The presence of DQA1*05 alone is not diagnostic for celiac. Meeting with an allergist and GI specialist is a good next step to explore other potential causes for the high antibodies, such as non-celiac gluten sensitivity or other immune-related conditions. Keep a detailed food and symptom diary to help guide further testing and discussions with your doctors. Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS.
    • Captain173
I had celiac panel done back in October, only ttg iga came back high  (22 with positive being over 3). Endoscopy done in January, it was  negative. Genetic test done after endoscopy, negative for both hla dq2 & dq8. Did show positive for dqa1*05.  Scheduled to meet with an allergist next week. Not scheduled to meet with GI specialist till after allergist. Confused if I have celiac or what caused high the antibodies originally if I do not.
