Theresa.........this is the best!

All of these things are useful. Someone might need them someday and she was just being prepared.

Oh this is so me.

Janet and Jess........I can so relate.

Jess let us know when they make the offer........as...........I'm sure they will.

Love hearing all the chatter today.

Just getting on for the first time today.

Hope to get back on later

Didja find anything like this:

Three broken umbrellas

A BIG box of maps mostly of the state of Illinois . . . apparently she bought one whenever she left the house. Perhaps she forgot she already had 24.

Calandars from the 80's

A new package of men's underwear in a size the does not fit my dad (and never will)

Boxes of uses Christmas bows

Around 15 road atlases dating from 1974 to the late 90's

Three John Deere rain guages . . . still in their boxes

Index Cards with the names and dates of almost everyone in town . . . who they married, when they got married, names of kids and dates they were born (she worked on our family's geneology . . . I didn't realize she was working on everyone elses, too)

Used crossword puzzle books

Every free set of return address labels or note pads that she ever received from organizations trying to solicit a donation

A ceramics craft kit that I got when I was about 10

Popsocks

Material

Popsocks

Etc

How about five working umbrellas, two from France

No maps though she had travelled all over the world :o

Calendars, check

No men's underwear (old maid high school history teacher :P ); however, WW! dated love letters, in beautiful case with silk bow (sad :( )

Christmas bows, check, AND wrapping papers

No index cards :huh::o

Return address labels, notepads, etc., check (even addresses where she no longer lived)

Beautiful fabrics, and fabrics, and fabrics--most of it from France, gorgeous stuff, but it was everywhere

Every pot and pan she had ever owned but none of it useable

Boxes of family linens from the days when the family were "someones"--maids uniforms, pieces of old lace, scraps from favourite dresses, doillies everywhere

Five dozen sets of table napkins (mostly linen, some monogrammed) (OK, a bit of an exaggeration on the number)

Tablecloths of every size, shape and colour

12-piece set of gold plated cutlery!

Partiallly completed embroidery and patchwork--everywhere; couldn't tell if it was hers or her mother's :o

About a hundred Sevres procelain portrait plates

Porcelain (French)

Porcelain (Russian)

Porcelain (German)

Miscellaneous porcelain!

A locked cupboard full of precious things that privileged persons were invited to peak at

Thousands of antique knickknacks from around the world, all carefully inscribed in notebooks with date and place of purchase and cost, and she was adding on a room to house all the stuff she kept buying

AND

Neighbours who peaked out at us from behind lace curtains--apparently never invited in and extremely curious Apparently she was considered the neighbourhood eccentric, and everyone wanted in to see what she had!!

We had a big auction of the stuff we didn't want, kept too much of what we thought we did. Good golly, what a burden it became so we had another auction!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANET

We just returned from our vacation up north and it was wonderful. Plenty of sun, waves, cool breezes, campfires, rest (and Pina Coladas ;) ).

I have 143 e-mails in my in-box????????? WIH?

Lots of laundry to do, then will check in and catch up with everyone.

 to all.

Dang, I missed you'se guys :P

Have a super weekend in the woods, Rayechull!

The Ripper is in the woods as we speak - - he's at The 116th Cub Scout Troupe Campout in Athens, Ontario

Did I tell you all that my DD got herself a summer job at the new McDonald's that has opened about a five-minute bike ride from here?

Mygawd.....do NOT want an extra set of tubes. Extra boobs, maybe - - nice ones that would sit up top, ones that I could show off. . . .....

Did your son have fun at scout camp?

Did I ever tell you guys I was the Girl Scout leader here for one year? Tis true :)

And your girl has her first job?? Excellent! My first job was as a cashier at Popeye's chicken--I used to hide under the register and munch biscuits when noone was around.

No extra boobies or tubies--isn't one set enough for Gad's sakes??? <_<

Emily, I thought about you and yours soo many times this weekend. Hope your dad is hanging in there OK, and you, too :)

Hi All

Sorry I've been away so long. :o

I just read this page and haven't read any pages before for soooooooooooooooooo long.

I was so down but seem to be better as a new med seems to be working.

Seeing a Dr. who knows his meds.

I'm so sensitive my internist was leery to try anything else new.

I've finally stopped 'spinning' and can focus on living and actually can get things accomplished

Porch is finally finished but the contractors still haven't been back to finish in 3 weeks. The counters are in however. Getting closets all cleaned out. Just taking a task a day and having the 'panic' feelings i did before.

I was even able to gather my mind and inner strength and fly to Ohio for my 50th HS reunion.

It was so nice to see all my old friends. I graduated in a class of 123 and 25 of us are in a 12 years club as we went from 1-12 th grade all together.

It was a small very close class.

Funny, the men seem to age so much more than the women..................IMO ;)

It was worth the trip even tho coming home...........i went to the airport and waited through 5 plane cancellations..........finally i had to take a cab and go back to my brothers for an extra nite.

I so enjoyed staying with my brother and his wife.

Got to see my 93 year old uncle at his farm in the hocking hills. I seem to find my inner core when I go to his log cabin where there are so many family memories.

Then got to see my cousin who who near death on Good Friday but got a liver transplant and we saw her in rehab. She on the faculty at OSU hospital. All the Dr's were pulling for her so i'm sure that helped.

Judy, good luck with the new meds., and the with renovations and house hunting. You have so much on your plate, and yet amazingly, you have given up smoking and got this terrible monkey off your back. You go girl!!!! You are an inspiration to me

Glad to hear you caught up with your friends--tis good for the soul, methinks <<sigh>>

It sounds like your cousin is recovering? Good news, that :)

Loved to read about your uncle's farm. Tradition and beginnings are very important. It really struck me this weekend that even though we've only been going to the cottage for 16-17 years, it is sooo much a part of our lives. My in-laws almost can't keep it up anymore--they had to sell the boat :( But, we will enjoy every minute of it as long as we can. It's on Houghton Lake--the largest inland lake in Michigan.

Have pages to read and catch up on, but...

Be back soon--MUST SHOWER NOW!!!

elye Community Regular

Welcome back, Queen Rayechull!! You had a wunnerful pina colada-filled weekend at the cottage on Houghton lake... . . .phab. :)

Jack sat quietly through dinner this evening, tired from his Cub Camp, Little league win and Cosmodome trip yesterday. Suddenly his brow furrowed and he asked, "Why is the fast-moving third hand on a watch called a second hand?"

Oracle?

I'm not missing, just quiet. I have been busy with other stuff. Nothing silly or exciting, just, you know, stuff.

Darn stuff <_< Always getting in the way of fun. Harumph.

No, we didn't go to Woofstock.

"Woofstock" :D Too cute :P

Sillies-----I have just concocted the most enjoyable lil dessert. Sliced banana, scoop of plain greek yogurt, chopped pecans, drizzle of honey, and cinnamon. Yum!

Yummmmm, Pat. Must try this--soon :)

And Jess bought strappy shoes (nice touch on an interview ;) )

Oh, were those not the interview shoes?

Did I mention how much I've missed you all?

mimommy Contributor
I just put the url for this thread down on my reference page.

 That oughtta do it ;)

I am as well a member of the screwed-up ankle/feet fraternity.

Since much of my dad's TV wardrobe is sitting unused in storage at the house, I've often thought that it should be worn - - seems like a waste of some very sophisticated costumes, still perfectly good. I should probably look through it all, and wear the sumo wrestler body, thong and wig to the wedding.

Or the German Prison Commandant . . .....or the complete Dame Edna ensemble (Dad's name was Bernice when he was portraying her)...... . . ..or the incredible drunken lo-life, complete with filthy, rolled-up foam mattress pad tied to the back.

I would love to wear one of these. I think heads may turn when I enter the church, and our bride would not be amused.

OR: Why not bring the costumes into the hospital, and help my dad get into them, a new one each day?

...Now there's an idea. . . .. .....

He's been in the hospital ever since that first surgery, which was April 23rd.

Um.. . . . . ....Patteigh is into leather. . . . .......

What else is that goil keeping from us, the kind, wholesome soul down south. . ....

Still waters run deep. . ....... ..

Leather, huh?

Em--loved your whole post!!

My right ankle is larger than my left, BTW.

Just thought you'd want to know.

Geez, your pop's been in the hospital for so long--poor guy.

Do it--wear the costumes  And send pics! That is awesome, to have his old wardrobe. I  this :D

Pat.T. into leather...

Gah!!!!! :lol::lol::lol:

I love the gardens (did I tell you that already? :P ). It's so like Christmas to me....something new over and over again.

That's true, Theresa--gardens ARE like a gift :)

I have found the gluten free betty crocker mixes and all I can say is Sweet! The cookies were so amazing and they stayed soft! Friday I made the brownies but I mixed in the cookie mix too so they Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies....to die for! The price for each box- 3.59. Decent compared to the 6.99 I used to pay for the GFP truffle brownie mix.

Go Betty :D We could all sure use some help with the cost, eh?

mimommy Contributor

Still catching uuuup...

speaking of woofs.......cousin Mojo nearly wets herself when she sees me as I represent fun and excitement, evidently (she virtually never is taken on a walk - EVER at home) - sooooooooo cute - so Friday night she followed me out of my brother's house and jumped into my car - she has been here all weekend (I wonder if they've noticed her absence? ), enjoying very fine g f dog food, romps in the orchard, some quiet R and R, and her Kitteh Cousin who is FASCINATED with her

rather sad, though........Skit Skat pays almost no attention to Weez now, but flirts outrageously and plays and swats and chews on Mojo.........

what in hell does this mean? such a bored, dis-loyal, traitor-ish little Tramp Kitteh

You dognapped your cousin's dog? :o:lol:

And Skittle is sooo fickle

Forgot to say, belated HAPPY BIRFDAY RACHEL

Thanks, Shroomie :) So, are you all stateside and Ta-ho-ed now?

Pssst...re-podiatrist. Do NOT let 'em sell ya an ankle implant for hyperpronation. Seriously

Gah.. . . .poor Weeze . . ...... . ...like the discarded, convenient wife, on the sidelines while the new sweet young thing gets called in to quarterback. . . ......

HEY. My dad has, in his incredible wardrobe collection, some spectacular long, green, suede, elfin boots with big bells hanging off the curled-up toes. OMG, Jyessss....if I could only courier them out to you on the west coast before your interview tomorrow!! Gad, you would be so hired.

:lol::lol:

Poor widdle Weezie :(:D

Jess, in elfin boots (with bells?)

I would hire you (laughter is good in the workplace--every office needs an office fool) ;)

I called myself Toto's Beeotch.

Gah!!! Hee-lair-yous

PAC FHAT, JYESSS!

I would need a bigger suitcase <_<

TeResha I wish I went strawberry picking wif you!!! We do have a place to pick berries but I am just too lazy....

Must tell ya all in addition to the book I also joined Babycenter....and the actively trying forum... just when I thought I learned all the computer abbreivations they have ones for pregnancy....like BD which means Baby Dance or in short terms....love making! POAS means pee on a stick and AF well thats the shortening of our dear monthly aunt ;) interesting..... Family Making is not easy I'll tell ya!

mimommy Contributor
Forgot to add that my fat is securely packed in supportive undergarments. Gonna be a chore going pee. That''s the downside of this whole 'dating' thing. I much prefer the marriage where ratty jeans are perfectly fine.

Wait a minute?! Did ye have an interview or a date??:unsure:

Families are tough- my dad had a family of 9 kids (he had 5 sisters and 3 bothers) and only one brother he got along with. My dad was the youngest and by the time he was 25 he had no idea where one sister was, didn't speak to 2 of his 3 brothers and it only degenerated from there. My sister and i never understood why but in the last two years he has told us some stories that would make your hair stand on end (including suspected murder). Very very sad.

LOVE yer new av, Bev. It looks like a wonderful, romantic place <<ahlove, sigh>>

You are so right about family and parents. It is sad, but it is life. We are our parents children and they are their parents children. I am incredibly grateful for my husband's family. I am forgiving of my my own (well, at least I tell people I am.) Our older generations had it so much harder than we do, but life was a little simpler then, too. I was with my grandfather when he passed. I held his hand and felt his pulse slip away as he took his last breath and let a single tear slide his face. We were not close, but that beatific look upon his face was the greatest gift he could have given me. He offered me in death something that he could never have given me in life--a vision of something better.

Here is book I think some of you may like...

"Why Do I Love These People?" by Po Bronson. He interviewed thousands of people about family and relationships. It is not a self-help book. It's just an observation about families and our need for/love for/resentment for the ties that bind.

We then went and had our packed lunch outside Kensington Palace

Well, of course you did :DLove that--it's just so...British :P:wub:

Made out OK at the foodfest, huh? I found gluten-free ice cream cones at my health food store, too.

Yeah!

Aww yes the chore of peeing---never fun esp in the situations of wearing a wedding dress where another ones help is needed...

LOL!! :lol::lol:

I had to have two girls help me pee when I wore my wedding dress--large bustle and all. Talk about em-bare-a$$-ing.

Hee! Bodysuits :P I used to wear 'em--wif the little crotch snaps

And leather boots? ;)

Why is this whole Fascist-itis cracking me up. Oh fa-s$#&e's sake............it must hurt.

"fa-s$#&e's sake" You is cracking me up, Bev

Gee, you missed it. The paisley shirts; the boots with inch-thick soles and three inch heels; belts three inches wide on the brightly coloUred bell-bottom trousers....

Never did have a Nehru jacket.

They say that if you claim to remember the sixties, you weren't really there.

The Jimi Hendrix leather hippy hat, the bandana halter top.

:Jack's Little League team won their first playoff game last night 7-6.

Woop-woop Jack!!!

And let me tell ya . . . my mom saved EVERYTHING!!!! GAWD, this is going to be quite a job. My hubby told me "You eat an elephant one bite at a time" and I responed wif "I think I chewed off a toenail".

Oh, Janet, so sad and so funny at the same time :)

Many reflections and questions on this summer evening in sillyville!

OMG sillies--no lie.....Mark and I were riding in the car at around 4PM and the outside thermometer read 103!! :o This is insane.....actually what's insane is the when we got out of the car in that heat, it was definitely hot  , but the real proof that my blood must already be thinning is that 3 hours later when we came out of our appointment, it was 97 and I said--gee, it's so much more comfortable now

Amanda asked a question fer the ages....."Is life boring without ballcocks and penial implants, banana hammocks and hot tub parties with legs and crutch tips and Phunny Phab avatars"

NIknik....

I got rid of NOrtonN a long time ago!!!! We use PC cillin and love it!!! Would never condone opening the door to NorTonN, as you never know what he'll do or when!!! Steals time, money, mental clarity in your dealings wif him....likes to play head games on you...not a nice character at all...as you so sadly know now :( Hope your new friend deals with you kindly.

Has been pouring down steady rain all day....looks like more of the same all night and tomorrow. I'm hoping that it'll clear out by then because I want to go exploring and hopefully do some hiking! It can rain all it wants at night....but this all-day stuff is depressing. I sit down to study...but have to keep waking up to turn the pages!

Em-n-Em....at least your waterworks are of the happy sort.....I think.....but yeah...we could use some good, cutting sarcasm here. I'm fresh out!

For people with celiac disease hidden gluten in their diets is the main cause of elevated Tissue Transglutaminase IgA Antibodies (tTG-IgA), but there are other conditions, including cow's milk/casein intolerance, that can also cause this, and here is an article about the other possible causes:

Thank you very much for your response Scott. Apparently the second TTG Iga test was ten times the normal. I’m just surprised that there can be such a huge difference between the test results. It concerns me also that the lab has just recently changed their reporting. There are not really many/ any symptoms anymore. I was suspicious about celiac several years ago, and had my child tested then (it was negative then), so we never thought further about it as the pediatrician continued to tell us his shorter stature must be genetic even though we are average height parents. Also I did not have as much knowledge at the time. I guess we will know more after the endoscopy. It pains me to think this may have been an issue for years. I worry now if we are getting false negatives for my other children also.

Yes, excessive neuropathy and a debilitating headache, spasms, cramps, tremors. Very much what you would expect from Parkinson or MS, only it coincides with the food and resolves 100% with a whole food AND gluten free diet. The gluten free diet was not enough on it's own I had to eliminate all processed food as well. They did the biopsy a year ago.

This. How long has it been since you were tested for celiac disease?

You have been doing all the right things to manage your celiac disease since diagnosis so what would you have changed? Perhaps the only negligence was not seeking follow-up testing sooner and more regularly. But even then, what would you have done differently as far as the day to day management of your celiac disease? I assume you realize that when something is labeled "gluten free" that does not mean it contains "0" gluten. According to FDA regulations, it just means it contains no more than 20 ppm of gluten. And "certified gluten free" (GFCO) means the product contains no more than 10 ppm. Even the air we breathe contains some gluten as there has to be at least some wheat/barley/rye dust circulating in the atmosphere. My point is, take reasonable precautions to control what you can control and then live your life. You will eventually die of something probably not related to celiac disease.
