Well, once again I have missed the Big Show from Oahu. Got into the store about a quarter to twelve, got the laptop set up, tried to connect to the beach camera about five to, and it would not load and Firefox crashed. Tried again, and Firefox did an encore performance. Tried to restart Windows, but it hung and did not shut down. Phinally pressed and held "power off" and rebooted cold, and it is working, but Jess is long gone.

Leeesa, exciting news!

Wah! I missed it. Dumb computer. Dumb selph!

Will Alexis be a wee-silli? :D

Why do we live in the midwest? Because we don't want to be swallowed up by a huge sunami, or slidden into the sea. That's a phact!

Later. I have got to buy a heater. Because I live in the MIDWEST. Or am I in the mid east? Or, am I in one of the mid-Atlantic states? Where am I?

As I walked away a passing woman smiled and said I looked like I was having fun. I explained about the camera and she starting laughing and said 'I just thought you were nuts'.

Gad....you mean, few people who walk by there know about the camera aimed at them? Hell, glad I am not strolling obliviously past that monument.......I'd be pickin' my nose er digging my shorts outta me bum, fer sure..... . . ...

Yay, Leesa, a happy event...nanahood :D

'I just thought you were nuts'.

:lol: She may be right, ya know. I was all tucked up in me bed and missed ya :( , but how many peeps would make a fool of theirselphsthe effort to do this??

Because I live in the MIDWEST. Or am I in the mid east? Or, am I in one of the mid-Atlantic states? Where am I?

I always thought US defininitions of midWEST were absolutely crazy :P Ohio to me is in the midEAST, and Kansas is in the midDLE, and Utah is in the midWEST and Alaska is the west (and also the Antarctice). Regardless what ye call it though, Sluzan, best get thee a heater fast if ye don't live in Florida

Psills, I just went to the funeral of my 97 year-old aunt, the last of my mother's family (all ten of them) and fully compus mentus and still avidly supporting the local rugby team, and whilst I was gone the last of my father's family (six of them) died too (at 92, the baby :o ) So that means my parents' entire generation is gone  It feels such a loss, somehow, because although I am left with what started out as 42 first cousins, we don't have anything in common any more and they seem (and are) total strangers :unsure: to me. Thank goodness one can choose one's phriends..... :)

I'm so sorry about your aunt, Shroomie. I know what you mean about the cousins, though. I haven't seen some of mine since I was a kid, and even the others I don't really have anything in common with either. The years go by and one day you look up and so much has changed......

Sounds so much like my own. My Dad in among the youngest in a very large family, and many of them are still going (his family seemed to have longevity....or maybe they all just seemed old when I was a kid). One of my sisters is tossing about the idea of family reunion (we used to do this when "us" were young...but not in many, many years), and is having a good time trying to track down "the cousins" (also 40 something...I forget how many). Could be a heck of a crowd if it can be pulled off...a lot of us not only have chilluns..but gran'chilluns, too....and we are all over the country!

Hey, gang!

Did Jyesss say she was flying home today? Cannot recall.. . ......man, I was looking at our globe, and did not realize until now how incredibly far away from all civilization those group of islands are.... . ..in the middle of the Pacific. I think Hawaii is actually closer to Japan than to the States!

Just threw a questionable-looking rump roast into trusty crockpot. Come six o'clock, I am hoping for a delectable, beefy masterpiece. Hope it does its magic!

jerseyangel Proficient

Mornin all :D

Em.....I'm sure yer roast will be delectable--I swear you could throw an old shoe in a crock pot, add some onions, cook all day and it would be a meal  The ole crock tease is pure magic

Lee-sa....how's the baby watch? Anything happen overnight?

Sills--I'm sore in places I didn't know I had :o Last night we started putting an epoxy finish on the garage floor.....what a production! We had to etch it first (did this on Sunday) and then wash. By last night it was dry, so we mixed up the first batch of the stuff and ended up getting the floor about 2/3 done. All the edging is done (by moi) and it really looks incredible.

We'll finish it up tonight, and since we have the apartment till the end of the month we won't have to park on it for almost 2 weeks. Today, I have more packing to do.....every time we go over there, we load up the car.

Does Jess go home today? How cool was seeing her yesterday? :D:D

Another beautiful day here--got me winders open B)

Man I missed a lot. Not paying attention to the date of Jyess's show, I was excited that it's approaching 9am, but alas, that was yesterday wasn't it, and now I'm depressed I missed the phun!

We were at the beach all weekend. 16 family members sharing one house and a freezer-full of booze. Needless to say, I didn't do much yesterday AT ALL. Thank God for rain, couldn't bear to look at the sun <_< My children learned a colorful new set of words, mostly revolving around the "F" word. I had to have multiple chats with them about appropriate language--sooooo praying ds doesn't drop an f-bomb at school today......

Sorry about the lay-off's Sleoozin and Leeza, I hope things turn around quickly.

Happy to see everyone is on the mend!

This reminds me of the time my two kids, around ages five and two, were downstairs arguing. Jack, only just beginning to talk in sentences, was giving Sophie regular hell for stepping on his Lego, or knocking his tower down.... . . . . ....I heard the yelling getting louder, back and forth, until Sophie suddenly screamed, "Oh, yah?? Well, EFF - YOO - KAY!!!"

When my older son was about 4, we were on a day trip with friends. The husband was good-naturedly teasing, and my son called him a "d%$#@#$bag"

The guy's mom was there and she very calmly looks over and said quietly "did he just say d%$#@#$bag?:lol::lol:

I can laugh now--this had to be 25 years ago :P

Douchebag is such a great word!! :)

When my dd was 4, we had just returned home from dinner with my potty-mouthed father. She walked in the house, accidently dropped her bag down the stairs and I heard "sh*t" My husband froze at the sink. Thinking I couldn't possible have heard her correctly I said, "Madeleine, WHAT did you say?" She said, "sh*t!" I said (louder), "What did you say?" Louder yet she said. "SH*T" Yelling now, I said "Madeleine Elizabeth WHAT DID YOU SAY?" yelling back now, annunciation every syllable, she said, "I----SAID---SH*T!!!!" My DH was doubled over at the sink laughing, and she turned the corner where I was and gave me a big smile, like, "you really wanted to know." I was trying so hard not to laugh while explaining to her papa has a foul mouth and she was not allowed to talk like him!!

Welcome to the forum, @Cathijean90! I went 13 years from the first laboratory evidence of celiac disease onset before I was diagnosed. But there were symptoms of celiac disease many years before that like a lot of gas. The first laboratory evidence was a rejected Red Cross blood donation because of elevated liver enzymes. They assume you have hepatitis if your liver enzymes are elevated. But I was checked for all varieties of hepatitis and that wasn't it. Liver enzymes continued to slowly creep up for another 13 years and my PCP tested me for a lot of stuff and it was all negative. He ran out of ideas. By that time, iron stores were dropping as was albumin and total protein. Finally, I took it upon myself to schedule an appointment with a GI doc and the first thing he did was test me for celiac disease. I was positive of course. After three months of gluten free eating the liver enzymes were back in normal range. That was back in about 1992. Your story and mine are more typical than not. I think the average time to diagnosis from the onset of symptoms and initial investigation into causes for symptom is about 10 years. Things are improving as there is more general awareness in the medical community about celiac disease than there used to be years ago. The risk of small bowel lymphoma in the celiac population is 4x that of the general population. That's the bad news is.  The good news is, it's still pretty rare as a whole. Yes, absolutely! You can expect substantial healing even after all these years if you begin to observe a strict gluten free diet. Take heart! But I have one question. What exactly did the paperwork from 15 years ago say about your having celiac disease? Was it a test result? Was it an official diagnosis? Can you share the specifics please? If you have any celiac blood antibody test results could you post them, along with the reference ranges for each test? Did you have an endoscopy/biopsy to confirm the blood test results?
    • Cathijean90
I’ve just learned that I had been diagnosed with celiac and didn’t even know. I found it on paperwork from 15 years ago. No idea how this was missed by every doctor I’ve seen after the fact. I’m sitting here in tears because I have really awful symptoms that have been pushed off for years onto other medical conditions. My teeth are now ruined from vomiting, I have horrible rashes on my hands, I’ve lost a lot of weight, I’m always in pain, I haven’t had a period in about 8-9 months. I’m so scared. I have children and I saw it can cause cancer, infertility, heart and liver problems😭 I’ve been in my room crying for the last 20minutes praying. This going untreated for so long has me feeling like I’m ruined and it’s going to take me away from my babies. I found this site googling and I don’t know really what has me posting this besides wanting to hear from others that went a long time with symptoms but still didn’t know to quit gluten. I’m quitting today, I won’t touch gluten ever again and I’m making an appointment somewhere to get checked for everything that could be damaged. Is this an automatic sentence for cancer and heart/liver damage after all these symptoms and years? Is there still a good chance that quitting gluten and being proactive from here on out that I’ll be okay? That I could still heal myself and possibly have more children? Has anyone had it left untreated for this amount of time and not had cancer, heart, fertility issues or liver problems that couldn’t be fixed? I’m sure I sound insane but my anxiety is through the roof. I don’t wanna die 😭 I don’t want something taking me from my babies. I’d gladly take anyone’s advice or hear your story of how long you had it before being diagnosed and if you’re still okay?

Genetic testing cannot be used to diagnose celiac disease but it can be used to rule it out and also to establish the potential to develop celiac disease. About 40% of the general population has the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% actually develop it. To develop celiac disease when you have the genetic potential also requires some kind of trigger to turn the latent genes "on", as it were. The trigger can be a lot of things and is the big mystery component of the celiac disease puzzle at this point in time with regard to the state of our knowledge.  Your IGA serum score would seem to indicate you are not IGA deficient and your tTG-IGA score looks to be in the normal range but in the future please include the reference ranges for negative vs. positive because different labs used different reference ranges. There is no industry standard.
    • Scott Adams
Since nearly 40% of the population have the genes for celiac disease, but only ~1% end up getting it, a genetic test will only tell you that it is possible that you could one day get celiac disease, it would not be able to tell whether you currently have it or not.
    • KDeL
so much to it.  the genetic testing will help if i don’t have it right? If theres no gene found then I definitely don’t have celiac?  I guess genetic testing, plus ruling out h.pylori, plus gluten challenge will be a good way to confirm yes or no for celiac.
