third time a charm

so hard to use this lap top

lost todays post too for spell check

quiet time at our apt for New Years Eve and NO PLANS TOMORROW

First time since Oct 30th that's happened.

who could guress that in 5 months

we'd list a home

clean and empty a home of 31 years

travel across the USA in 14 days

live with a MIL with severe damentia for weeks

lose a house b/c --the bank crashed that held the morgage and stopped the sale and Feds took it over

the next day we got a 3 month lease...unheard for apt

and started looking again

Found one that was on the market 3 days and would be off the market

we bid on second day and won over 7 other bids

we hope to get it on Jan 15 th

afraid to type more for fear of losing it

Susie

I'm sorry your having such a hard time

Happy twenty ten youse guys!!!

I slept about 9 hours last night (that's a LOT for me). Briefly awakened at midnight by neighborhood fireworks but went back to sleep immediately. Suze, were you banging yer pots and pans at midnight last night?

. . . and Suze, I do agree that when you eat sweets you have to eat some salty to counteract but next time pick a differnt flavoUr . . . and I, too, hope it's not too ruff.

Probably one of the best meals I've ever cooked last night . . . hope the leftovers taste decent as there are quite a few.

Jaw update . . . I think I'm doing better but still gotsa ways to go. My teeth aren't hurting near as much, but my jaw joint still feels tired/sore.

Off to bake some muffins . . . I'm onto a really good recipe now and must go check to see if it was a fluke or if I can repeat myself.

We stayed up till just after 12 our time--I never realized the festivities end at 12 eastern time (at least on TV  ). That last hour was spent watching HGTV and dozing off from the wine and carb fest.....

Ah....Nik's pinch-punch.....all's right wif the world

All of our Christmas stuff is down and put away--now back to the fans and blinds.....we may get settled sometime in 2010, we hope

Leesargh - don't know WHAT to tell you, but it's three hours ahead where you are - WHOT did you decide to do???

We ended up sticking with tradition. Did nae want to worry about the food, and didn't feel like leaving our friends and a warm cozy house to treck across town to dance on a crowded little dance floor. We had a good time, and I made some awesome potato skins :)

I also had an awesome lunch with a coupla old friends........lots of laughter......SO much fun! I really missed them. Already planning to do it again over Spring break :D

All right: Operation Tree-Down to commence.......

I'm joining you! It'll be a phirst for me, procrastinator that I am! :P

I have high hopes for 2010.

Wishing everyone a brighter, happier, less stressful year, full of wonderful surprises ^_^

Well, it wasn't like it was anything that special . . . I did a pork loin (never did a pork loin before, only tenderloins). However, instead of dry and chewy (like I make my roast beef <_< ) it was moist and tender . . . Also had roasted potatos/carrots and sauteed green beans/mushrooms/onions . . . AND (and this is a big one) it all got done at the same time. :o:lol:

wif crustless pumpkin pie for dessert.

Storage boxes have started descending from the attic for packing away of the Christmas stuff . . . I'll make sure I go slow, wouldn't want to overdo it . . . will probably take the whole weekend :P

 Nope, not this year.....I think I was asleep by 11.

and WHAT are these muffins you speak of? Sounds like your dinner was quite good....my friend made Pioneer Woman's pork tenderloin w/ homemade cranberry sauce - said it was TO DIE FOR -

in other news -

no signs whatsoever of a glutening  Bowels totally normal today......

guess it was just a light dusting of barley malt flour - did nowt

Well, new year, new decade..........very happy to see 2009 go.......

Good things for all of us in 2010, hear hear! :) Happy New Year to all -

Oh, no.....another glutening! Crap, Pahteee. Hope you are better this am. Still dunno if I was actually cc'd - - it did not last long, and it was kinda crampy stuff, not bloating or D happening. Guess I'll never know.

Hey! Oracle POeter may know this.......I was just thinking about how I miss our great li'l emotifaces on this forum when I'm typing just about anything anywhere else. I wonder if you could move them into conversations in the facebook chat windows? I somehow doubt that the fb gods would have such settings.. . .....more's the pity -- I'm sure I am being completey misinterpreted when I'm furiously chatting away with someone, and I don't have that perfect li'l cackly phace at my disposal... . .. ......

Glad it was short-lived, Em . . . hope yours is too, Patti.

Yeah . . . I need these available for when I'm sending emails or writing my Christmas letters . . . a picture an emoticon is worth a thousand words and all that!!

jerseyangel Proficient

Yeah, thanks goils, I'm better today. :) Thankfully it doesn't last too long anymore. I took a couple pre-emptive Immodium (actually didn't have D with this round, but ya never know ;) ) and we're at Starbucks having a warm drink before running a few errands. Could have been cc or a combination of snick snacks and wine on New Years Eve. Like Em, I really don't know.

Jan-it--meant to comment on yer dinner (yum!)--how did you get the pork moist? I'm always afraid of undercooking pork and subsequently I over do it and it gets dry. Is it a timing thing, or do you have a trick up yer sleeve?

Pseriously considering getting me hair cut into a long shag and relaxed. It's that time of year again  Been growing it out and am getting itchy to do sumphin. B) Opinions? Mark thinks I should do whatever makes me happy (read: stop talking about it and do it), Matt thinks I should keep it the way it is  (not a chance).....

Hello, My mid twenties daughter is blaming my husband and I for her celiac disease.  She has not been diagnosed at all, but GOOGLE has informed her she has it.  She is going to go get tested now, but my question is, did we?  I was not the best cook while she was growing up and often made quick processed food for meals.  She is blaming us for what she ate growing up and is angry that we didn't feed her better.  I don't know how to react and all I could tell her was I was sorry.  Her older brother has Crohn's disease and he was diagnosed as a teenager.  She is also furious with us that we didn't change his diet either.  I don't know why I didn't and I am having so much guilt I don't even know how to handle this situation.  Both sides of our family have a history of IBS, Celiac and Crohn's disease.   I guess I just wanted to hear from anyone out there that can either point blame at me (I can accept it) or tell me that the food she ate growing up didn't have an affect on her.  I am thinking it most likely did. Thank you, Marie

I’d say celiac is likely.  Please continue to eat plenty of gluten until your endoscopy to be sure that any gluten-related damage can be seen.  Plus it gives you one last chance to enjoy your favorite gluten-containing foods. I hope the endoscopy/biopsies give you a definitive answer.

I do also have the bloating, gas, constipation, hair loss, an auto-splenectomy that no one can see any reason for and some elevated liver enzymes that don't seem to have a cause, I also have joint pain and some spinal compression fractures that have no explanation.  I am only 42 so haven't had a bone density test yet.  My calcium was normal, but my D was a little low.  They haven't checked for any other vitamin deficiencies yet.  My blood test for an autoimmue disorder was quite high but my Thyroid was all normal.

Hi, I have been having a lot of back pain and gut issues for 8 weeks or so.  I saw the GI on Monday and my results just came in from the lab.  Some of these number are high and off the little chart from the lab.  I am reading this correctly that I most likely have Celiac, right???  It would explain a lot of things for me.  She does have me scheduled for a colonoscopy and endoscopy in  2 weeks to do the biopsy.  I posted this prior, but forgot to put the range assuming they were all the same.  Someone advised me to repost with the ranges for some insight in the meantime. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 140 (normal) - Normal is 87-352 Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA 256 (High) - Moderate to strong positive at or above 30 Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgG 65 (High) - Moderate to strong positive at or above 30 t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 31 (High) - Moderate to strong positive above 10 t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgG 10 (High) - Positive is at or above 10

Usually, the blood testing is done first and the endoscopy/biopsy follows for confirmation if there are positive antibody test scores. Historically, the endoscopy with biopsy has been considered to be the gold standard for diagnosing celiac disease. If the tTG-IGA scores are very high (5x-10x normal), some doctors will forego the endoscpoy/biopsy and grant a celiac disease diagnosis without it. So, if you are starting with the endoscopy/biopsy that may be all you need to arrive at a diagnosis. Another possibility would be for the GI doc to do a blood draw for antibody testing on the same day you come in for the endoscopy/biopsy.
