So it turns out that if you help the bartender at a fundraiser she makes sure that you have plenty to drink, don't remember what she was making, but it had lots of rum. Fortunately, one person decided not to drink so we got rides home.

OK......this is where it gets tricky....

Have to go back tomorrow to help clean up and there's all these fish to deal with, and a huge bucket of Indian food in the fridge. I think I'm one of the more sober ones.

must be starting to wear off cuz my head is starting to hurt. I'm planning on walking there in lieu of my morning walk. i think i can spend two more hours drinking coffee before i have to leave, but then, I can get a hemp milk latte if i go early... far too difficult a thing to think about right now.

the centerpieces were fish bowls with live fish...what am i supposed to do with those??? the indian food i guess we're having for lunch (i saved the gluten-free stuff :D ) and there's one cake that the rest of the girls can have.

and 16 foot bamboo

ok, so I have a bunch of water bottles filled with what remained of the rum and vodka. Don't understand why no one else wanted them.... And the midori. And about 8 pounds of spinach paneer. and some chicken kabobs. and windows 7. I'm thinking I need to write them another check.

I just got home from cleaning up and now I need to go to my SIL 's birthday party, which I thought started at 5 but really starts at 4 and I need to shower but I'm eating some spinach first (before dinner, but hers won't be as good, since it's not indian).

Almost reminds me of undergrad--used to work in the molecular biology lab for our advisor in the evenings till very late, but sometimes we dipped into the 100% EtoH.

One pretty, brilliant and hardworking gal (now a brilliant physician, but still a very good friend) awoke the next am on the lab bench surrounded by giggling freshman biology students. Maybe one day she'll see this post. I hope not.

Sorry. That's short for ethanol. 100% being equal to 200 proof Wodka. :D We had to add water to it, so it wouldn't suck all the moisture from our lips. I hope our old advisor isn't reading this either.

      Well, I have the opposite problem. My LDL has been moderately high for years. I eat healthy and exercise regularly but can't seem to move that meter. I used to be on a statin (and my doctors want me to go back on one) and it brought both HDL and LDL down but the ratios never changed. I think a lot of that cholesterol stuff is just baked into the genes.

Thiamine helped lower HDL in this study whether they had diabetes or...

      Hello! I was recently diagnosed with celiacs and mild chronic gastritis was noted on my EGD as well. My GI did not even bring up the gastritis and when I asked she brushed it off. I really want to heal my gut completely not just from celiacs but also the gastritis. Did anyone else have this at diagnosis? Were you able to treat it? Was it associated with celiacs...

I could do some speculating here…well, heck, let me go ahead and speculate now: The lab ranges we all see on our reports are more or less the averages of Americans who have had those blood tests. Now, it’s up to you and me whether or not to think of the average American as healthy. I can make arguments both ways, more often than not, on the negative. My point here is that maybe the current range of HDL is somewhat skewed (ie, low), and maybe just maybe my super high (plus 100s) HDL results are not something to worry about; the range just needs updating. Why do I say this? Because pre-celiac disease diagnosis, my HDL values were in the normal range, but post celiac disease diagnosis, my HDL levels are way above average. See where I’m going? My trusty guidebook on celiac disease, Recognizing Celiac Disease by Cleo Libonati, RN, BSN, says that HDL increases after being on the gluten free diet. Or can increase, I guess. Then again, it could be something else. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In thinking of going to a cardiologist, I sort of fear that he/she will be dismissive of a link to celiac disease, treated celiac disease, and would not therefore be considering all possibilities. @trents I'm sorry you've been diligently working on your numbers to no effect. That must be frustrating. LDL is a world that is far better understood than HDL, so for you there's maybe less "mystery." Familial hypercholesterolemia is for sure something that can be tested. Outside of that, you're right, genetics can determine a general pattern.

Gastritis is more often than not an accompanying finding that is commented on in the post scope/biopsy notes when people are positive for celiac disease.
