Evenin' Peeps. Yep. Busy here. Preschool started this week so I had to go back to earn a few (and I do mean few) bucks. Yesterday I worked at the Elementary School. Working out lots of bits and pieces to get Smackl straightened out. I'm sure I've mentioned this before . . . Smart kid that struggles to get down on paper the volumes that he knows. Will be getting an OT evaluation (finally). I don't know how many people I have said "Dysgraphia" to and I think I finally said it to the right person. However, I am talking to the school system so I'm sure I'll be disappointed. Have also initiated contact with the ped about sleep issues. The older he gets, the worse he gets. Has a horrible time falling asleep. I use to think he got good quality sleep once he finally got to sleep but I don't think so anymore. We got to see the ped doc in a week and may do a sleep study. Other than that . . . my house is filling up with dirty laundry, dust, dog hair, school papers, and dead ladybugs (they come through my bathroom vent).

.....I had to do a 7 day collection while working all day........

WHOT?

A SEVEN DAY COLLECTION??. . .. .. . . ..This is truly heinous. How in hell big would THAT orange jug be? Like, the size of my dishwasher, methinks. . .. . . ...

I'm actually on me second jug. I'm usually good for one and a quarter containers.. . . . ...big water drinker, here.

ANNNNND.. . . .....for the first time, I read the sticker on the side of the jug, and I think I was subconsciously refraining from reading it all these years because it explicitly tells one to refrain from drinking ANY alcohol whilst collecting.

Man.. . .. . . .could NEVAH do a week's stint.. . . . . . . . ... ....

Jyaghnutt! I feel your stress with Smackl's sleeping troubles. DD has gone through periods of insomnia, and has never been a great sleeper. Seems to be getting somewhat better as she gets older, but it still concerns me. Good for you getting him into a sleep clinic -- you could get real help there!

Hope so . . . now that I have brought it up to him, he's expecting me to fix his sleep problems immediately . . . anybody know what a safe amount of nyquil is to give an 11 year old boy?

. . . are we trying to do that 'no posting' thing again? Where is everybody??

Darn210 Enthusiast

News from the preschool (I didn't work today so I had to get this second hand) . . . one of the four year old boys drank out of the urinal . . . he said he was thirsty. I guess it looked like some kind of fancy water fountaing to him.

kareng Grand Master

Many many years ago, Nyquil had a good dose of alcohol in it. My sister would keep everyone up coughing like a sea lion from an allergy. My mom would give her a good slug of Nyquil and she slept soundly. Why is it OK to give them alcohol in medicine but not give them a half shot of something thats equivalent? Vodka & OJ would taste better and give you vit C. :P

Yep, I concur fully. A big mixed drink can also involve hearty, healthy stuff such as celery sticks, marachino cherries, slices of lemon.. .. . . . .ya don't get that goodness from a capful o' Nyquil!

WTH? Someone really wanted 7 days worth of your pee? Does it cure warts? Increase male performance? Seriously, do we really pee that whole container in 1 day?

Hub & I seem to be physically degenerating. Body parts are taking turns to make certain that 2 or 3 a day are aching. We will have to consider a spa soon. I'm afraid I may not be able to get out!

I'm back from the bowels of school hell. I've been knee deep in principals and teachers and pretty soon, my knee is going to be buried deep in that principals junk if he doesn't take care of this blasted situation!! Sorry-bit of a vent! No new news, we'll find out next week what will be done (or if my dh will be calling the superintendant again)

Em-

Why are you peeing in a jug????

Yeah--they love a good weather story....too bad when a storm fizzles and they gota phill the time

Lordy, some schools around here have altered their school schedules because of "Winter Storm '08" That stuff NEVER happens around here! Once every 10 years isn't enough to git everyone's panties in a bunch!

My papa used to put a bit of whiskey in my mom's baby bottle (wif the milk) when she had a wicked cold and it was keeping her up at night. Graduated to a glass as she got older. I asked her once as a teen during a nasty cold why she wouldn't do that for me... she never had a good answer

M is a strawberry daiquiri fiend. We stayed at a hotel with a happy hour. Everyday, they had 2 frozen drinks - strawberry & something else, in a Icee machine. For adults, they added alcohol to the glass. He had to get back for his happy hour drink.

When I worked at a Childrens hospital, they gave sick/ premmie babies a " whiskey nipple" if they had to do something painful like an arterial line. It was a sponge soaked with whiskey and sugar? In the shape of a pacifier. Babies loved it!

Rey Shell, is that nasty boy bothering your daughter again? In 6 th grade, a boy kept hitting J. J said, " it's OK, Mom. He' s little. He can't hurt me.". This kid was severly mentally ill and was supposed to have a helper or teacher at all times. The teachers said that since he has a special need, we couldn't do anything about it. My son was not to react in anyway. He was using his Tae Kwon do and moving out of the way at the last minute & the kid would go flying. I said that my kid deserved to go to school in peace. That kid wasn't allowed alone again. He also was sent somewhere else the next year, hopefully for the help he needed. Good luck.

DD did a sleep study years ago. Turns out she has restless leg. She never realized it cuz she didn't get the feelings they talked about in the commercials. Lack of sleep can affect so many other things. She was put on medication and it has helped tremendously.

So now I've started my second month of torture physical therapy. My therapist said she has to get more aggressive in my treatment!

Are you kidding me?????

:(

On the bright side......I'm going to attempt to go dancing tomorrow!!!!!! So excited!! :D

They will try to beat you down..( I say that respectfully as an ex teacher doing IEP's for 25 years)

So here's a phunny story. My J, 17, has Homecoming dance coming up at school. He wasn't going to go, maybe, probably because he didn't have anyone special in his mind. Suddenly, 3 of his male friends started asking him when he was going to ask " Mary" to Homecoming. Telling him him not to wait until the last minute. One of Mary's friends offered to take some pictures & help him with a fun way to ask her ( apparently, you cannot just call someone up & ask). Another girl told him to hurry up & ask Mary. These are all kids in a large group of about 30 kids that sometimes do things together. So, J asked her. He has known her since 1 st grade and always got along with her. He said, " I was assumed into asking her. Do girls have meetings to decide who should go with who?"

I said yes. He said, " Well, where do they meet? How did I miss that this was going on?".

:)

I've seen it coming since first grade (he's in fifth now). I kept getting the "It's still normal for kids at this age to . . ." It was finally no longer normal. They tried to buy me off with a GEI (General Education Intervention) and after about 6 months of no progress with the best intervention that they could implement, THEY recommended an IEP. Got it last year. Doing a little more testing now thru the school which, unfortunately, takes quite a while. At the same time, I've started the ball rolling with the pediatrician. I do LOVE his teacher of record this year. I've never worked with anyone as proactive as she is and I think she will be his best chance of being set up to be successful in middle school (next year).

Awwwww . . . another young man is learning that women rule the world . . . brings a tear to me eye.

Test results came back for everything that was tested now. Cholesterol is off the charts high. Not sure if that’s related to celiac, I have no idea how it could be so high. Also tested positive for H pylori  infection… is there a link to celiac and H pylori? Or am I just experiencing symptoms of the H pylori infection?
    • ChrisSeth
I’m reading that some sites list a high Immunoglobulin A result for my age above 300, another site says above 356, and other sites are saying above 400. I don’t know what to make of this result 🤷‍♂️
    • trents
You got some bum steers my friend. I have little confidence that you can trust your test results as differentiating between NCGS and celiac disease. And I think you would be much more likely to have gotten that note you need if you had been diagnosed with celiac disease. But believe me, I understand the predicament you are in with regard to the risks of repeating the gluten challenge. We have heard this story many times on this forum. People experiment with the gluten free diet before getting an official diagnosis and then cannot tolerate the gluten challenge later on when they seek an official diagnosis.
    • Jason Hi
For the upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, they said 7 days of gluten. So I did 8...fast food and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. For the earlier blood test, the younger doctor said I didn't have to. My immune system went down, I was in the bathroom a lot, and as my wife said my brain wasn't braining.
    • ChrisSeth
Thanks guys. I just got my results but I don’t know what they mean…  celiac disease reflex panel Immunoglobulin A  normal range 66-433  my results are a score of 358. Is this normal? I have no idea what to make of it…
