A friend of mine (who's a vp or sumpin') cleaned out her closet and gave me two huge piles of clothes. Sadly the really snazzy one were too big, but they went to another friend of ours so we're all happy. I'm gonna spend the next several hours sitting on my floor sorting through my 'new' clothes and shoes. :)

Where is y'all?? I got home late from my date, went shopping for a housewarming gift, and now I'm home drinking Bard's and eating Snyder's. I feel so ordinary. :D :D

Went to another concert with our son. This was an Australian Cover Band that does Pink Floyd and is endorsed by David Gilmore (they played at his 50th birthday). They were awesome.

What's up with people talking loudly through an entire concert??!!!!!! This is the second one we went to in two weeks where it happened. The last one I nicely asked the guys to shut up and they did. This time I t was afraid I wouldn't be as nice so I didn't say anything. Wound up chatting with the guy during intermission. He still talked loudly through the rest of the concert. People a few rows down left early so I just moved my seat.

We got home really late because my son was "sexiled" from his room yet again and he was pissed off, sick with the flu and all of hs friends were busy. We stayed as late as we could until my hubby felt he had to start driving or would fall asleep on the way home. I feel bad for Tony (our son) because this happens frequently but mommy can't fix things anymore. He's going to confront his roommate tomorrow.

Sorry you were lonely. We're back!! biggrin.gif

Been changing clocks.

yeah........I changed some last night, but not the big one in the family room.

Hubby went to work an hour early..... *snicker*

Hi Oscar! My favorite muppet! Can I keep him? Please?

Oscar is not a kept man monster. He comes and goes as he pleases ;)

Yay for Jess and her 'new' clothes! :jealousphace:

Sills--just got home. My son's next door neighbors have adopted the sweetest puppy--she is a mix of toy poodle and dachshund (Doxypoo er sumpin like that)....anyway, she is the cutest wee thing! I just love her. She's 6 1/2 pounds and will only grow to 10 they are told.

Ate way too much sugar this weekend but had a great time so WIH :P

And it seems he is an infrequent, although welcome, visitor here.

Unusual Sunday today. The team member who was scheduled to work was sick, so I worked in the store today.

Gads. So not ready for another Monday. Did a ton of laundry yesterday (the 'new' clothes) and I still have a ton more. I have to go to work dressed up today 'cause I just can't deal with putting on my jeans again without running them through the wash.

This weekend going to a show with BE on Friday, a girls birthday dinner on Saturday, Picasso on Sunday, may have to call in sick on Monday, 'cept I have class so I guess I'll go in anyway.

Another beautiful day here. Going to be 70 and sunny.

Gotta go to the grocery. Gonna make stew and they didn't have celery yesterday.

That's the breaking news from Kansas. Wondering if I can put a slash thru the wheat stalks on my car license plate ( like the gluten-free celiac symbol).

Loey Rising Star

70 - I'm jealous (although the snow is beautiful). Klark didn't clean off my car (I think because he wants me to stay home today). I hope he'll do it tonight and pull our cars into the garage. This is our first house with a two car garage and a fireplace.

Enjoy the weather and put the slash mark thru the wheat stalks - what's the worse that can happen?

Loey (Brrrrr)

I agree with Lo, just draw slash marks :)

So phunny! I sometimes buy the store brand organic milk (when they're out of Horizon), and it has a big wheat stalk on the carton. WIH? :P

kareng Grand Master

Thinking about sending a letter to the state if I could figure out who to send it to. Why should I have a picture on my car of something that will poison me? By this logic, CA should have an earthquake symbol on theirs. Or we could put meth lab pics on them! What about the Pilsbury dough boy? A Big Mac and fries? Tornados or hurricanes?

I'm on a roll!

mushroom Proficient

Thanks Emel, it opened for me - what a hoot!

I would not have wheat on me car, either, but you can't have the earthquake symbol for CA - we've got that one all tied up. Still quivering and trembling on a regular basis

Jess's weekend makes me pheel a bit tired too, but it sure sounds like BE has become part of the furniture at her place :)

I went to the airport over the weekend to pick up my sister, and got all tangled up with the Hilary Clinton motorcade which had traffic backed up for miles in every direction, and took forevvah to clear once she phinally made it to the airport and took opphh. But we got back at her and turned on a perfectly foul weekend of weather with two inches of rain and a cold southerly off the ice. The umbrellas protecting her got blown inside out. Her perfect coiffure as she stepped off the plane became a straight blownback windsweep in one second flat. When she departed she was wearing an Alice band

Yesterday sis and I had a great lunch at a restaurant called Strawberry Fare with one of our more delightful cousins we had not seen in ages. The food was fantastic, substitutions were freely allowed, our waitress was extremely gluten knowledgeable, 80% of the items on the menu were available gluten and/or casein free, they bake their own gluten-free bread, and we could relax and have fun. Lunch lasted until 3:30 p.m and then we went shopping on Victoria St. which has some very trendy, higher end shops. Good afternoon!!! :) A busy week is planned with a trip to the A&P Show (think county fair, but add in zillions of animals because this is a farming province - also sheep dog trials and stuph like that; our dad used to be a dog trialler so we have a fond appreciation for the border collie) and then a lunch at the home of friends of sis later in the week which may be a bit fraught - will have lots of backup stuph in the car.

Liphe in the shaky isles has not been particularly psillie of late but I have been reading along and staying current. Took sis on a drive through town - it's like driving a gymkhana around all the cones, fenced off areas, demolition zones, and it changes from day to day just to keep you on your toes. My favourite kitchen store is just bare earth :o , but I did find them relocated just a few doors down the street :) And at least my bakery survived intact so the staph of liphe is available.

Hi Jess,

I'm going to lay down for a while but wanted to say hello before I did that since I saw that you were online. I hope you're seeing BE tonight. I LOVE living vicariously. Don't get me wrong - Klark is the best but we've been together for 22 years (married 19) and there's nothing like new love (yes, I said love).

Yep. We all said how great it was to be together with people with whom you have a shared past and heritage - you just pick up where you left off last time :D

I did lamb (this being NZ) shanks in my crockpot on Sunday, with just onion, garlic (lots) and herbs, and some 48-hour homemade beef stock (no tomatoes for me, no red wine for sis) and yes, they (and the smells) were heavenly too. Enjoy your pot roast :)

I wish more doctors emphasized on the importance of Vitamin D. I'll increase the Vitamin D3 supplementation from 2000 IU to 4000 IU. I'll also try Benfotiamine and see if my symptoms improve. Thanks for your suggestions.

Hey, the pan is scrubbed with soap and water, and after that wiped with vinegar oil. Is that ok or should I consider switching pans and only cooking glutenfree there? The oven is wiped with vinegar oil. Is this enough? Also different celiacs have different symtpoms and reactions, does this also mean that maybe some celiacs only react at lets say 100mg gluten per day? Or will that damage any celiac? I have no symptoms, but my pancreas elestase was tested extremely low, which indicated pancreatic insufficiency. I dont know if celiac caused it or not. Also do you guys think a celiac can be safe with other gluten eating family members? like of 5 family members, only 2 eat glutenfree. Can the celiacs still be safe? Does the dishwasher for example usually clean all gluten of the dishes?

Welcome to the forum, @Gill.brittany8, Yes, the bloodwork is confusing.   One has to be eating a sufficient amount of gluten (10 grams/day, about 5-6 slices of bread) in order for the antibody level to get high enough to be measured in the bloodstream.  If insufficient amounts of gluten are eaten, the the antibodies stay in the small intestines, hence the statement "tTG IgA may normalize in individuals with celiac disease who maintain a gluten-free diet."  The bloodwork reflects anemia.  People with anemia can have false negatives on tTg IgA tests because anemia interferes with antibody production.  Diabetes and Thiamine deficiency are other conditions that may result in false negatives.  Anemias, B12 deficiency, iron deficiency, Thiamine deficiency and gastritis are common in undiagnosed Celiac disease.    The DGP IgG antibody test should be given because your daughter is so young.  Many young people test positive on DGP IgG because their immune systems are not mature and don't produce IgA antibodies yet.  Your daughter has several alleles (genes for Celiac disease).   Your daughter needs to be checked for nutritional deficiencies.  Iron (ferritin) B12, Vitamin D, Thiamine and Vitamin A should be checked.   Were any biopsies taken during the endoscopy? Keep us posted on your progress.
    • knitty kitty
The intestinal tract can be as long as twenty-two feet long, so intestinal damage may be out of the reach of endoscopy tools.  Some people have had more success with capsule endoscopy, but this method cannot take biopsies.
    • knitty kitty
@Jack Common, It's possible that your antibiotic for giardiasis has caused thiamine deficiency.   https://hormonesmatter.com/metronidazole-toxicity-thiamine-deficiency-wernickes-encephalopathy/ And... Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/ For clarification, the weight of your slice of bread is not equal to the amount of gluten in it.   Gluten helps form those big holes in breads, so breads like thick chewy pizza crust and artisan breads contain more gluten than cakes and cookies.
