How to navigate living with dermatitis herpetiformis
Welcome, @Morgan Tiernan, The best thing to clear my dermatitis herpetiformis is to take Niacin, Vitamin B 3, the form called nicotine acid, the kind that causes flushing of the skin. Flushing Niacin clears my skin quickly. Yes, the flushing might seem really strange, but it opens the tiny capillaries in the surface of the skin which helps remove...- coeliac

How to navigate living with dermatitis herpetiformis
Hey @Rogol72! thanks for your very helpful response. Those videos are great and super educating! I’ve forwarded them to my family members too as often it can be very difficult to explain to those around you just what you’re going through. Though, I’m fortunate that they’re super supportive and keen to help me get to the bottom of the problem. I...- coeliac

How to navigate living with dermatitis herpetiformis
Hi Trents, thank you so much for your help and support. Yes it’s not ideal from my surgery practice. This is just one of the many problems I have experienced with them, we’ve had to pay to go to a private consultant now instead (I’m from South Wales in the UK, spot on about the spelling of “coeliac”! I completely forgot there was another way of sp...- coeliac

Waiting on biopsy results but wanted opinion on bloodwork
Thank you - that makes perfect sense and I understand. celiac disease is an autoimmune disease which will cause further damage while gluten sensitivity is different. Based on my symptoms and bloodwork, I am almost certain I have celiac disease. I kind of hate to hope for a positive biopsy but a negative one would be frustrating for sure. Regardless, I have... -

Let's talk about terminology for the sake eliminating (as much as possible) confusion. Unfortunately, the terms "gluten sensitive" and "gluten intolerant" have, historically, been used indiscriminately. There are two primary categories of gluten disorders whose "official" terms are 1. celiac disease and 2. Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity or NCGS for short....

Thanks Jess! Our son will probably devour most of it because he hasn't eaten yet today and is being lazy about having a snack. That's why I always make two. Wish me luck. It's the first time I'm using the convection setting on my oven.

Oh, dear gawd... .. . . ...he wants you to cook LIVER for him?? Jyessss, if you're not ready for something like this, you must tell him - - a good man will understand, and let you take your time.. . . . ..
(((((serious voice)))) Jyessss, I'm so happy for you! He is a lucky guy. :D
Thanksgiving went well. No one complained about gluten-free food. My sis was eating the cornbread and asked if I should be eating it. Her hub, I was worried he sometimes is picky about food, was interested in the recipes and my bag of Pamelas flour. Jess, Hub & I "L" word the sweet potatoes.
J & M played with the 3 year old all night. They admitted they had fun with him. The 6 month old needed to sleep but wouldn't. He had to watch what the boys were doing, even at his own peril (He & I got hit with stray Nerf darts). Finally, J sat down & put the baby sitting next to him and baby fell asleep. I told him girls will be impressed with this. He may borrow the baby to use as a chick magnet.
And the big break-through: I took a clean fork and gave my mom a bite of the ginger snap crust (she had regular). She took it off the fork and put it on her plate and handed me the fork back. My dad said," She can't use that fork. It might have touched your pie."

Your whole day sounds fantastic. I'm glad it went well.
Wondering how Lo's quackers turned out!

Happy for you both, Jess!!
Happy late T-day everyone . . . still stumbling about in a food coma here . . . had in-laws here (and still do).
My condolences!
Hi all--hope everybody's doing ok the day after......
I had a bit too much phun <by phun, of course I mean wine> and I'm happy to report that my gluten-free pumpkin pie was a hit amongst the gluten eaters.
9PM and I already have me jammies on and am thinking of heading to bed.....
