Lo! Do feel better soon. Hope your doc listens to you!

Now this post gave me a good laff and went a long way to helping me find some psilly deep inside me - it has been hiding a lot lately, I fear. But t'will return I hope.

Thanks Sroomie (and everyone else). Just called the doctor that klark's friend recommended . They need a referral. Now the question is, do I ask my GI for the referral. Klark said i should just ask him if he thinks he can help me and if not ask him for it. Pfeeling awkward. i see him in an hour and then my brother and SIL will be here for the weekend.

Don't know what I'd do without al of you and hope I never have to find out!!!!!

One of J's jokes he told me last night.

What did one snow man say to the other snowman?

Yeah! I smell carrots, too!

Just got word that I'll be making my first European trip at the end of 2011, possibly beginning of 2012!! To Rome you say? Paris perhapse? See the queen of England by chance.... We're going to Turkey

DH's best friend is getting married to a fabulous lady who is European. I was under the impression she was French....Since she grew up in France.... But Turkey threw me for a loop. No details yet. Guess I need to get me a passport :)

I look at it this way Lough--your health is the important thing here. It may be awkward for those few minutes but if you get your referral it'll be worth it. Do you have a GP there yet who could do a referral?

I had a hysterectomy in 07--I had been seeing a very nice doctor that was part of a larger practice that was headed by a very well regarded surgeon who I had personally heard good things about. When it came time to ultimately decide on and schedule the surgery, I asked for a second opinion appointment with the other doctor. (awkward)

Cut to the day of the surgery--not only did my surgeon of choice do it, the other doctor assisted since she was there that day. :)

Do what you need to do for you--a good doctor will understand because he/she will want you to get better.

Wow, Rah-shyelle! How exciting. . . .I, too, would love to see Turkey. My niece spent six months there in a job placement, doing personal training/pilates/yoga instruction in a very exclusive fitness club in Istanbul. It was the experience of her lifetime, she says. :)

Hope you didnae forget to make a small noise, you were allowed that, remember? :P

T'was even a small moan she was permitted, provided it was done discreetly of course :P

Shroomie--fer PeOter Sawyer's sake there is nothing to forgive! :)

Ok...we're finally going to get our NJ drivers licenses tomorrow (there's actually a DMV near here that's open Saturday mornings) and I could not be happier. My TexAss license photo was the absolute worst pic ever--very mug-shot. The lady yelled at me about where to stand (after waiting almost 2 hours in line) and hardly had the word "ready" out of her mouth before snapping the pic  <----I had a similar look on my face.....

I literally apologize for the dang thing every time I have to show it. Speaking of which, Wegmans cards everyone who buys wine.....

Hi Patti (and all my other psillies),

Well I'm happy to say that the GI spent 40 minutes with me. On top of the celiac and ulcer I have IBS. His suggestion for the IBS was to stress out less. I mentioned disability to him and he said he never heard of anyone getting it for IBS. I was thinking I'd get it for all of the ailments (celiac, ulcer and IBS and emotional issues I'm dealing with).

My brother and SIL are here for the weekend and they have several friends collecting disability. They said that you usually get denied the first time and then get it when you appeal. Bad news is the appeal can take up to two years. Good news is that it's retroactive. I do have an appointment scheduled to see a GP but the first opening was February 3rd. My GI referred me to her so do I still ask her for a referral? Also is anyone currently on disability and if so did it take jumping through hoops to get on it?

He wants me to take the Donnatal and Fiber Con for the IBS and the med he prescribed for the ulcer. I have another EGD scheduled on January 14th. Seems like this just goes on and on.

It's great to have my family visiting. I don't have to pretend to feel well. We're going to take them to Mystic for lunch (Rob took them to breakfast to a great restaurant that I can't eat at), then we'll exchange early Christmas presents and go see the new Robert Downey Jr. movie (drool, drool). Tomorrow we're going to see Tony and take him out to dinner.

Again, I can't begin to thank all of my psillies for all of your support and concern. It's keeping me positive and also from crumbling right now!

Low-eee! Well, at least your GI spent some time with you, and has been listening. :) Hope the meds help! So often, IBS is a symptom of celiac. Now, those fibRE meds are all gluten-free, right??

Yay, Jyessss! Must have missed this, though - - what part are you playing?

This is going viral...so thrilled. The best flash mob I have yet seen - - happened in Welland, Ontario, a couple of weeks ago:

He was the one who told me to take them, but I will check the list of medications that I posted on other threads. Thanks for reminding me to do that!!!!

Sounds like you've been given this girl to help, Loaughee.. . . . ....think it's just what you need. :)

I agree it's just what I need but it's going to take a loooong time to get her up to speed. When I took my grad classes for my Special Ed Certificate I was told that if you can't read by third grade it would be difficult to ever catch up. I'm going to be an optimist and give it my all. I do have to start with basic sight words. She also confuses her b's and d's and her p's and q's. These are all classic special ed problems. I see her again on Monday but I'm still in the testing phase.

You mentioned a show but did nae tell us what it was, or your role - inquiring minds want to know! Glad it went phab.

Glad the GI spent time with you, Lowwee. Sorry to say, I know nothing about the disability rules :( having been fortunate never to have needed to. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I don't really think the IBS adds anything to your diagnosis, I'm afraid - it's just something they throw in there 'for good measure' (lol). Hope you get some relief with the meds.

Darn, I can't download any video for another week - we have downloaded so many docs lately we have all but used up our broadband allotment - trying to keep from retreating to dial-up crawl. Love those things.

Lovely early summer morning here, with no wind and the harbour is like a looking glass. The pilot boat is sitting waiting for an incoming ship that just entered the heads. I luvs me harbour view :D But today I have to do Christmas cards - I am slowly whittling my list down to important peeps :P

Did NOT look in, nor hover over, the container as I dumped it into the kitchen garbage.

Thanks @Scott Adams for this information. I also found some options as well. One of them is also offering gluten free seafood menu with alot of options as well: https://pappadeauxmenu.com/
    • Beverley Ann Johnson
HI, yes I get this reaction if I eat gluten by mistake or if I eat high fodmap foods as well.  I become nauseous, vomit then it hits the muscles, my legs sometimes give out.  It takes a while to feel "normal" again.
    • Scott Adams
The first step would be to re-examine your diet to see if hidden gluten is the cause. Eating out would be the number one source of contamination, even if restaurants offer gluten-free menus and options.
    • Scott Adams
You may want to see al allergist and run a standard food allergy panel to see if wheat allergy could contribute to this, but again, the most likely culprit if you have celiac disease would be gluten contamination.

Any specific tests you would recommend to check for other allergens or issues ?
