Something to ponder having nothing to do with weddings, hats or royalty.

If toast always lands butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet, what happens if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it?

--Steven Wright

:o

Is the toast butter side up or down?

Is the cat celiac? 'Cause if so, the cat will just barf, or express diarrhea, or be too achy and depressed to care which bloody way he lands... .. . .

Not a chicken (or egg) tale, but here goes.

Where we live there is a mixture of land uses. The street we live on runs north from a major arterial road. The south end of the road is undeveloped on both sides. The land on the south side of the highway is just now being developed. We are going to have a Whole Foods Market. Right now, it is just a field of mud.

A pond was accidentally created years ago when a construction crew blocked a culvert. It is on the NW corner of our street and the other road. It attracts water fowl. It is common to see geese and ducks.

This evening, coming home from the store, there were several geese at the side of the road, and one standing menacingly in the middle of the road. Looking more closely, there were some goslings at the side. The first ones we have seen this year.

aawww.

Every year the UW puts up a duck dock on the fountain so the baby ducks can get in and out easily.

I've given the happy little chickies an apple to chase around the deck. Gives them something to do, other than paw through my flower pots in hopes of finding something tasty.

My uncle had " fancy" chickens for fun on his farm. They were dumber than dirt. Your chickens sound like a lot of fun.

They are kind of amusing. I have to keep the door closed or they'll come in the house. And they've dug holes in my neighbours flower bed to snuggle in to, but she's gone so I'm sure it's ok.  They come running when they see me, which is kind of cute, and very handy for collecting them out of the neighbour's flower bed....

Do you have coyote, fox, bobcat or hawk issues with them running around? I live in a neighborhood, but I would.

Jestgar Rising Star

Coyote, eagle, raccoon and roaming dogs. I've been letting them out in the evening when I'm home and I pay pretty close attention to where they are. I've gone out a couple times and found a raccoon snacking on the chicken treats, but leaving the chickens alone. It's not the best situation, but they really like to have a couple hours of free time to destroy my yard.

I could loan you Cooper. Once the chickens get used to him & realize he isn't going to hurt them ( take about 10 minutes) he could hang out and scare unsuspecting predators. Works well for the rabbits, squirrels & birds in our yard.

Jestgar Rising Star

You don't think he would go racing off into the greenspace behind my house looking for adventure?

I've had like four glasses of wine and it's getting very difficult to keep correcting my typing. I need those chickens to get into their coop so I can go to bed.

Guess I'll have another glass while I'm waiting...

Bo, the magnificent, is standing guard at the top of the steps. Having overcome his fear of the choickens, he's willing to risk life and limb....well...he;s willing to sit at a distance..... to prtect the family providers.

Oh no! Cooper would not risk being alone in the world! He might go if the chickens went with him. Our gate gets left open & he doesn't leave the back yard.

Hello my dearest psilles,

I don't know if you realize how much your sweet posts and support mean to me. Just found out I have to have surgery (possibly double). I have a lymph node under my arm that's excruciating and I also have an aortic aneurism by my spleen. Seeing a surgeon on Wednesday. Never thought I'd say I can't wait to see a surgeon.

On a positive note Clark went to U of RI to see how many pre-requisites he needed before starting his Biomedical Engineering Masters program and he doesn't need any (I didn't think he would after working 22 years in the field) but he was a happy camper yesterday. It will mean we need to live on one year's salary for two years but when he finishes the program he should have no problem getting a 6 figure job. Hopefully Brown will come through with scholarships and financial aid so Tony can continue there. We have enough money for another year right now. Tony's going to be hit with some harsh realities when he comes home but at 19 it's time to man up. We're seeing him next Friday for a concert. We're not going to tell him anything that's going on until he comes home for the summer because we don't want to interfere with his finals.

He gave us a scare last week. Called Monday at 1 AM to tell us he was going to the hospital. After waiting for 4 hours in the emergency room they saw him and ruled out appendicitis. The girl he has a crush on (and had a falling out with a few months ago) went to the hospital with him and missed all her classes. When I had Rob put her on the phone so I could thank her she said "Tawn Tawn is my best friend in the world." Rob said she's lovely and he enjoyed talking to her. I felt horrible that I couldn't go up with Rob but my doctors said the only time I can be in a hospital is for testing or if I'm admitted.

Believe it or not I'm still watching the Royal Wedding. I cannot believe how trashy Fergie's daughters looked.

OK, enough blabbing from me. I miss being on daily but I just don't feel well enough. I am keeping up with all of the posts.

Lots of love and hugz,

Loey wub.gifwub.gifwub.gif

:( :( That is really tough, Low. This is the surgery that could fix you up entirely, though.. . . . ...thinkin' of you...

kareng Grand Master

Lo! I've got the parts catalog out & I'm going to order new parts for you! A total re- do. An Etreme Loey Makeover. I'm trying to get Ty Pennington on the phone right now.

Seriously, getting a few things fixed may prove very helpful. I hope so! Keep us up- to- date. If you want to give Clark my email, he can give us surgical updates and I can copy them here.

Does anyone have this problem? Hub has this, too. I make a salad. I start out cutting up reasonable amounts of red pepper, tomatoes, carrots, cheese, chicken, etc. When it's all on the plate, it's enough to feed a herd of rabbits. Do salads expand?

Now that I have had my expando salad, I am going to the Art Fair. It is a beautiful day here.

Oh Lowey! sad.gif I hope the surgery can happen soon so you can hopefully feel a bit better!!

Well, it's that time again...

Hey Low-E,

Have you read about the Eat to Defeat Cancer diet? You might find it interesting.

Thanks my friend,

I'm going to check it out on Amazon after my doctor appointment this morning (I have one every day this week). Going to see the band Kansas this Friday with Tny. Still not telling him until the summer and finals are over.

My painting is progressing SLOWLY. Basically a five year old can d better. Not giving up, though. It's relaxing. I bought a bunch of books on scryli (my favorite medium so far. My teacher was rather nasty and condescending so I'm not going to pay to be treated badly. I did confront her abut it.

Hope you're doing well!

Good that you are keeping the Doctors busy. Isn't there a saying about "Idle doctors are the Devil's fools?"

(maybe I got that a bit wrong?)

I thought you said you were coming to see Kansas! Though I would like a bit of notice as I have to have at least a week to worry & fret about what to serve for dinner.

I would love to paint as well as a 5 year old. Perhaps some finger painting?

They expand, then you put them in a nice salad bowl, and you eat and eat and eat and eat and the darned thing never seems to decrease in size!! I've been living on them for a while now

Simon! Are you posting on Mommy's account?

He just wishes he had a never ending salad.

Welcome Connie Smitj,  Did you have a follow up test to see if the treatment for H Pylori was successful?  It's possible to catch it again, especially from a partner.  When I contracted it a second time my wife was tested and was positive for two of the bacteria in H Pylori.

Welcome to the forum, @Connie Smitj! Can you give us a little more history about your celiac journey? How long ago were you diagnosed and how long have your been gluten free? Do you have other symptoms besides quick onset of hunger after eating and gut pain? How long have these symptoms being happening?
    • Connie Smitj
I eat a gluten-free diet but hunger pains start within an hour of eating dinner. I  had h pylori infection before I was diagnosed. Occasionally I’ll have bouts of pain. Could it come back or is it just celiac disease?

Scott, am I missing something? For the TTG-IGA normal is anything 3 or less and his score less than 2. I think that one is in normal range. @Brown42186, if the GI doc is not interested in doing an endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel lining based on the elevated TTG-IGG I would request a repeat on the bloodwork now that you have resumed gluten consumption again.

Interesting for sure. Have you heard of potential cross reactivity to casein (dairy), corn, milket, iats, rice, and yeast?
