Fruit leather.... .. ..... .hmmm...well, if it all ends up tasting like crap, you could perhaps fashion them into penis slings -- my BIL was telling us that leather prices have skyrocketed, so his racing sled dogs are doing without........

Jeez, another whole market......I`m such a genius....

Brilliance and beauty - all in one!

We'll combine the two ideas and sell "Edible Penis Slings! Practical Protein with that extra rush of sugar energy!!"

Made some blackberry jam, and now I'm making up trying my hand at no-pectin apple-plum jam.

Brillant! The key to a successful product is having a broad appeal. This can be sold at sporting goods stores, health clubs (gyms) cafes, and adult novelty/toy stores. Even those without a penis will want them for thier love ones!

Bet it was a great show, Lo.

Just remembered the Big Man is gone. Bruce has someone else playing tenor sax tho, right?

Re Naturopaths, I saw one for a while. She was helpful on some things, mostly because I was too new to know much about complications. But there was always something else dissatisfying going on. Like claiming she'd said to also be tomato-free when I was recalling the instructions w/ tomatoes being fine & feeling like I wasted that month & whythehellwasntthiswrittendown ....

Didn't like that she wanted to call villi "cilia", or maybe "celia" in her mind. Isn't cilia a word that comes up when microscoping creek water for single-cell organisms, paramecium-breath?

Hmmm maybe the main good thing about her was just that she believed my judgement/evidence that gluten & other things were real problems. Before that, 2 celiac-recommended MDs wouldn't say more than I was "50-50 for celiac"!

(I'd been dx'd by an MD 30+ yrs before, but no records remained)

I suppose I see NDs as hit-or-miss now.

Thanksfor the helpful answer Tom (and the rest of you). That sucks about your medical records. I've started to get copies of everything. My first issue with the ND is whether or not she'll take my insurance (currently BC/BS but will change to Medicare and Universal Health in mid September). I plan on having a list of questions for her. For some reason I'm intrigued by the Cherokee Healing. I also don't want my meds messed withbecause they're finally at a helpful stage (once I return to the new pain doctor and get my Oxycontin). I also FINALLY have good numbers with my Celiac. It took two years. Now I just have to keep the Leukemia numbers down (and the auto immune).

Did more walking (uphill & down) to get to our seats at the concert than I've done in well over a year. I expected to have trouble moving today but it was the opposite - I seemed more limber. Now I just need to stop falling (that's been a few weeks as well). I was going to see my neurologist this week but I think I'll cancel it for now. I've been reading a lot of Louise Hay and I'm starting to journal again. I'm also set to start painting and have been making jewelry. So I'm just going to keep thinking positively, check out the naturopath (The disability leaves very little left after Medicare is deducted andI need to make it last).Tomorrow the girl I tutor and her mom and siblings are coming over for a work/play date. I just hope Nikki (mom) remembers her son's gameboy because he has ADHD and little patience. We'll do some crafts - I'll set the older sister Cori and her mom up to make jewelry and slip off with Selia to resume our Explode the Code lessons. I can't believe how much better she's reading. I am SO proud of her!Last week Cori and Selia taught me how to make wire and gemstone rings.I thought I'd only be able to handle a half hour but we hung for 2 hours. I know how good it is for Selia but it's even better for me to be able to put my Special Ed skills to use.

Haven't said this in a while but I honestly don't know what I'd do without this Forum. Even when I can't sit long enough to participate I can print it out and still LMAO. laugh.gifYou are all the best! Peoter you MUST do an eastern leg of your travels. It really is lovely up here and boy would I love to give you a bear hug!!!

Love & Hugs,

Loey

We need to be home by Thursday, and are out of range of any more sillies for this loop. Heading home in the morning.

An eastward loop trip may be in the not-too-distant future.

Sounds like (looks like?) it was a great trip!

I is tuckered. 3 days of full on siding repair. I wanted to finish the caulking and priming today, but decided I just wasn't up for any more time on the ladder. Made two batches of jam, picked more berries and plums, and cleaned the sticky mess that was the kitchen.

Just finished hanging the dishtowels outside, and explained to Butch that he was not to sleep next to the jars of jam.

Caulking and priming tomorrow, using my $7 "oops" Primer+Paint. It's about the color of blueberry yogurt, but since my real paint goes over it, I think I can deal.

I'm tuckered just reading it.

Awesome time with Peter and Jacquie!♥

Where have my psillies been? I'm finally back and there hasn't been a posting in days! Today we're going to Thimble Islands in CT. You have to get there by boat (in fact the three main boats are tours boats that give a history of the 90+ Islands). A lot of them are inhabited and make the houses in Newport look like chop liver. Having a GREAT week. Did crafts with Selia's family and then tutored her. I didn't realize her brother and mom were waiting in the car the whole time I tutored Selia. So now we have family fun, Her sister will be entering regular high school in the fall an is a hoot.I set them up with a craft to do during tutoring and it's win-win. started painting (the coward's way - before I use my expensive kits I'm painting by numbers. It still allows me to understand the shading. I'll practice strokes next. FINALLY went to the beach with my neighbor Mary for an hour (I had an appointment and boy was it hot anyway).

OK, I have a doctor's appointment in the morning (I finally correlated it that that's when I can't fall back to sleep. Got my timer and a book and hopefully will fall asleep before I have to get up. I do not like AM doctor appointments but if it was later we couldn't do Thimble Islands. I'll report back on our adventure and I expect to see some posts!!!!!

What were your first three? Are they available on Kindle? My husband self published afar several houses wanted him to make changes that were two important to him. I always thought his book would have made two good ones. One autobiographical and the other on scientific papers and info that went way over my head (I still read his book and "try" to read the essays but wind up back at the autobiography). What saddened me greatly is that he stopped writing. Now our son is the writer in the family so I continue to believe what's meant to be is meant to be.

Keep Writing and let me know about the first three.

Found you on Amazon. Now I'll go add you to my Kindle. Looking forward to seeing a non celiac side of you!

P.S. How old's your son? You have a beautiful family. My boy is 20 and will be a Junior at Brown in the fall (but you know this from my posts).

Glad to see I am easy to find! :D I hope you enjoy them. As you can see in the reviews some people love them, and some despise them. Not much in the middle ground.

Not sure. We right now holding with him eating a highly restricted diet for now till he is symptom free for a while. Then we can look at possibly adding some non-gluten foods back in and see what happens.

I put on my detective cap and looked at his home page and there was a web site. The kindle copies are very reasonable (one's free). We should start a book club with his novels!

Yea, the mods wont let me actually link to my books (understandably), but if you follow the path that Loey followed you will find them. Or you can just hit Amazon and search on my name.

Good luck with that. Thankfully my son tested negative for celiac. It would have been one more thing for him to blame my genes for (allergies, height, yada..yada).

As far as how people react to your books it's all someone's taste. Now you've already got fans in us because we know you!!! I'm going to start reading volume one on the way to Thimble Island. It's a huge compliment when I put down a book I'm reading before I finish it but JFK Jr will have to wait. I remember the first time I read my husband's book I was afraid I would't like it but I loved it. Too bad no one other than friends did.

Well I'm heading back to the medicare site to see if I can find out the prices of my meds. We had them at one point yesterday and didn't print it. I want to be able to ask my doctors for cheaper meds when possible. Like I can really afford $170 a month for an allergy pill!!!!

Hugs,

Loey

Yep, they're pretty easy to find.

I spent yesterday making four batches of jam. The last, spiced blackberry, is really tasty. :)

Had homemade yogurt with homemade jam for brekkie. :D

I also have a short contract to do some spreadsheet work for a small architectural firm. Guess I should get started on that...

What does one do to make a blackberry "spicy"?

I'm a little confused. In your second post you said, "but these symptoms have been ongoing for a long time before the pregnancy" while in your most recent post you say, "I was doing a lot better on the AIP diet. However, I was unable to do the full reintroduction process because I went off the AIP diet when I got pregnant and was experiences chronic nausea." CBC = Complete Blood Count. This is the typical bloodwork most people would have done routinely with an annual wellness checkup. I would include things like iron levels, various blood cell counts including reds and whites and other infection fighters. CMP = Complete Metabolic Panel. This would measure things like blood sugar, kidney and liver function, plasma proteins and various enzymes. Non cellular things that the body produces. Also typical of an annual wellness check. Have you tried cutting out dairy and oats? These two are the most common cross reactors in the celiac community. I know it must be tough trying to get adequate calories and nutrition when you are pregnant while at the same time eliminating foods that are good sources of those things.
    • Maura Gissen
They did. I was doing a lot better on the AIP diet. However, I was unable to do the full reintroduction process because I went off the AIP diet when I got pregnant and was experiences chronic nausea. This is what makes me believe it's food related.  I do check all of my food products and supplements and I am very careful about them being gluten free and trying to stay away from corn starch etc. However, I am eating gluten free breads that sometimes have rice flour, yeast, etc. - I seem to do fine with these breads/bread products some days, but then am sick other days.  I have never really had any GI symptoms outside of bloating. My symptoms are dizziness, brain fog, and a general feeling of unwellness or malaise, sort of like when you're going to get the flu.  I have had a lot of bloodwork done over the last three years, but I don't recall doing the CBC, CMP, or a celiac-specific test recently. That's helpful so that could at least provide some insight to see if I'm still being exposed.  Do you see most individual with celiacs having to take a period of time away from even gluten free breads and other cross-reactive foods to let their guts heal? I'm not sure how restrictive to get with my diet again since it's so challenging.
    • trents
Did the symptoms commence after you discontinued the AIP diet? Have you checked all nutritional supplements and oral hygiene products for possible gluten content? Have you recently checked all the labels of purchased processed foods in your pantry to check for formulation changes that might have introduced gluten? Historically, when "glutened" did you have GI symptoms or were you a "silent" celiac whose symptoms were non GI. Is what you are experiencing now like what you were experiencing at the time of diagnosis? Have you had recent blood work done (CBC and CMP) and if so, were there any parameters out of norm? I know you have Hashimoto's but you say that is well controlled now? It certainly wouldn't hurt to get celiac antibodies rechecked. Because you are essentially gluten free I would not expect to see any big departures from normal levels but if there are even weak positives it could indicate you are getting glutened from some unexpected source.
    • Maura Gissen
Hi Trent! Thanks so much for your warm welcome and questions! They do, but these symptoms have been ongoing for a long time before the pregnancy. However, it's hard for me to know what's a celiac response vs. a Hashimotos one. I haven't, maybe it's worth getting those checked again?
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Maura Gissen! Don't those same symptoms often come along with the territory when pregnant? And then throw in Hashimoto's.  Have you had your celiac antibody levels checked recently?
