OBTAINABLE RESOLUTIONS

**************************

Are you sick of making the same resolutions year after year and yet you never keep them? Here are some resolutions that you can actually accomplish! Enjoy! :-)

10. Read less.

9. I want to gain weight. Put on at least 30 pounds.

8. Stop exercising. Waste of time.

7. Watch more TV. I've been missing some good stuff.

6. Procrastinate more.

5. Drink. Drink some more.

4. Start being superstitious.

3. Spend more time at work.

2. Stop bringing lunch from home: I should eat out more.

and last but not least...

1. Take up a new habit: maybe smoking!

Now THOSE are some resolutions I can keep!

somebody stop MEEEEEEEEeeee......jeans are even more tight

I cannot believe how tight my pants are....I think my tops are, too. And my watch...and my necklace...:o

We have a New Years dinner at MIL's to go too, don't really want to go either...

Hey! No MIL complaining allowed, Amanda, unless your situation has been more dire than mine, i.e., MIL here for many, many days.... <_<

You should have all come to my BIL's to share our Christmas virus . . . first time that I can ever remember having lost weight over Christmas. And you know how the last thing you had before you "lost it" (so to speak) becomes the last thing that you want to eat? Well, the last thing that I had was a milk chocolate truffle. This troubles me. Surely it will help my weight loss goals for this year . . . but dang!!! It's CHOCOLATE!!

I feel for you Emily, that would be murder for me. Mine is nice and all but she pushes her views....religion and beliefs are a main one, she always tries to start a debate. If it is not that she will just start acting emotional. Like John's dad works a lot and so if he doesn't come home exactly when she tells him, when he gets there and we are there she will get mad and then cry and it makes you feel uncomfortable.

Plus she always is pushing to take natural herbs and drink this all healing juice she claims I should give it to my cancer patients at work since chemo isn't doing them a ounce of good....I have nothing against people taking herbs or taking anything for whatever reason but don't push it on me repeatedly....she even sends us stuff to our house....

ALL the decoration are GONE! AWAY!! Feels like Christmas never happened!!

We don't take our decorations down till the Epiphany, so we've got a few days left .... but the kids have to get their stuff out of the living room today ... the house has been trashed long enough!

Maybe my sister looks like your sisters - 'cause I don't think she looks that much like me. However, the pic of your oldest daughter looks a LOT like my niece.

Now that would be funny .... how old are they?

Well, I've been gone all morning .... have to go make my blackeyed peas and hog jowls ... any Southerners here? My family is from the south, so we have always had the blackeyed peas on New Year's Day.

We do the pork, saurkraut and applesauce here.

CarlaB Enthusiast

I like pork and applesauce, but I've never been a saurkraut fan!

As much as I like black eyed peas, you'd think I'd make them more than once a year!

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

I don't do saurkraut either....not my thing. I don't feel too good either after dinner. I think my cosmo's are catching up to me....I think this Silly is going to camp on the couch for the remainder of the day.

Ack, that would drive me nuts!!

I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve. We went to a party at a friend's house and had a pretty good time. I always get a bit teary eyed watching the ball drop on TV and hearing Auld Lang Syne and seeing people hugging and kissing in Time Square. Last night I was getting particularly misty and sniffly for whatever reason. I had only had a couple of glasses of wine and definitely wasn't drunk but I really didn't want to look like that girl who gets emotional and starts bawling about everything when she's drunk. NOBODY wants to be that girl! So I had to run into the bathroom and compose myself. I just imagined somebody asking me 'what's wrong?' and me sobbing 'It's ... just...so...beautiful'. I'm not sure Ryan and I would have been invited next year!

Thankfully I was able to get over it and partied without tears until the wee hours. I hardly drank at all but I feel hung over from lack of sleep. I'm not sure how I was able to study all night and then write an exam in the morning a few years ago while in University. I can hardly think straight enough to do the laundry today.

Happy 2008!!!

Lisa Mentor

I would like to wish everyone here a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year.

I really do love to pop in here and get my silly "fix" for the day. Thanks for that.

Both ... we fly into NYC, then will drive up to Hyde Park.

Say What??!!?? Hoglets in my hair??!!?? Did my hair look that bad??? Ummmm . . . plus, we were at the mall. Only service animals allowed and my hoglets are not seeing-eye-hoglets. Had to hide them in my purse.:lol:

Now that would be funny .... how old are they?

My sister is . . . <have to stop, ponder, do the math> . . .48. Her daughter will be turning . . . <carry the one> . . . 31? in about a week. Yeah, if you noticed, my sister started a little young. And when I say your daughter looks like my neice, I meant about 10 years ago.

A nickel under your bowl of peas!!!! I've never heard of that. Brings prosperity??? In this house, it would bring an argument over who gets to keep the nickel. Then I would have to produce another nickel to keep it fair . . . and now I'm down ten cents!!

Hog jowls? Like, old man, hanging down from chin, fleshy jowls? Whoa.... :o:lol:

I have this exact problem, not when the ball drops, but when we are at a movie. Funny, it happened today...we all went to see the Waterhorse. Very good escapist fantasy, a little sappy, and boy, they get me every time. My DS is looking at me out of the corner of his eye, I can just TELL even though it's dark, to see if I'm tearing up at the end. Nothing really sad, just a little poignant, and I'm willing the tears to stay unformed. Unbelievable. I always cry...my kids have more fodder at which to roll their eyes (dig the prep. use?!)...:rolleyes:

I wonder if that's like our (English) tradition of putting a coin in the Christmas Pudding?

Yeah, yeah, no problem, where are we meeting???

......OH.....WAIT!!....HANG ON!!!.... ....hubby will go BALLISTIC if I tell him I'm off to New York for a few days to meet some friends.......so will the bank manager <_<

I usually serve them over rice, but they're good plain as a side dish, too. Basically, a black eyed pea is a bean .... they are seasoned with the ham cooking with them and with some garlic .... maybe a little lemon juice, too.

I never buy any nuts from a facility that processes wheat.  It’s not worth the risk.  Surprisingly, Trader Joe’s nuts do not come a factory that processes wheat, and I do not react to them.  I am sensitive to gluten.
    • Scott Adams
If all testing is now completed you may want to let your doctor know that you are starting a gluten-free diet. If you symptoms go away on the diet it is further confirmation that you may have celiac disease, and/or non-celiac gluten sensitivity.  Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS.
    • Scott Adams
As long as the B Comlex is gluten-free, it should be helpful to you, especially since you're recently diagnosed and your villi are in the recovery process. You may need to look at further supplements as well, and it's a good idea for your doctor to check levels for many nutrients to see what deficiencies you might have. The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs.
    • Scott Adams
How long ago were you diagnosed? There are many symptoms and issues for those who are newly diagnosed, and recovery can take a while. This study indicates that a majority of celiacs don't recover until 5 years after diagnosis and starting a gluten-free diet: Mucosal recovery and mortality in adults with celiac disease after treatment with a gluten-free diet However, it's also possible that what the study really shows is the difficulty in maintaining a 100% gluten-free diet. I suspect that if you looked closely at the diets of those who did not recover within 2 years might be that their diets were not 100% gluten-free. Perhaps they ate out more often, or didn't understand all of the hidden ingredients where gluten can hide. Either way, it shows how difficult recovery from celiac disease can be for most people. According to this study: This article explores other causes of flattened villi:

As I mentioned before I’m pretty new to this. I’m about a month into being completely gluten-free. But I’m still having issues with fatigue, loss of appetite, and gas pain. I’ve started taking the B complex, and was hopeful, but that would help me get past especially the fatigue and the loss of appetite. But now I just read a more recent post where somebody is saying that the B complex is not necessarily good for us?  I was very comfortable with the B complex because our bodies shed excess B vitamins. But now I just looked it up and B vitamins can cause gas and bloating.  As I mentioned, that’s one of my biggest symptoms, and I also think it’s directly connected to my loss of appetite, which, of course is connected to my fatigue.  I’m so confused I don’t really know what to do now?
