We got plastic babies baked in cakes, Port-O-Biffs (sounds like a PREPPY toilet) and my all-time favorite: Open Original Shared Link

Yes, that about sums it up.......and don't forget -- what types of FISH you've been kissing....

hat is her cartoon character face. That's my little Weasel......she really looks rather like an animated creature at times.

and she LOVES pancakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uhmmm....pancakes. Much better than kissing fish :P

And don't leave out the beads & associated/mandatory breast flashing!! :o

Tom- We ALL flash our breasts everytime we post. You just can't SEE us!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, I'm giving up flashing for Lent.

Patti made a phunny with HeyMoes!!!!!!!

I've been to N'Orleans....it's scary when it's quiet, never mind Mardi Gras!!!!!!! I actually ate a cake (King's cake?) with the wee plastic baby in it. Supposed to be good luck if you get the piece with the wee babe in it!

Really interesting stuff.....knew about Shrove Tuesday (as is here) and the following Lent but had no idea 'Mardi Gras' was connected (Duh!)

...of course I've heard of Mardi Gras in New Orleans but didn't know it had religious conotations!!!

That's because there AREN"T any religious connotations any more....... <_< 'Tis pure debauchery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

evidently I've given up dating for Lent......unawares.

I think I"ll hide something in my own food tonight and squeal w/ joy when I find it. This will be done at a restaurant where I'll be celebrating the Fatness of Tuesday adn other things. Now must just locate a wee plastic babe........... ;)

Follow-up from the pedGI (then I won't drag this thread down any further) . . . He would like to scope her again. He said that's what it says to do in his GI handbook  . I actually quite like him. He has a decent sense of humor and he appears to listen to me. He did not bat an eye when I told him that I decided she didn't need to be on Erythromycin any longer (I had my reasons and told him). He gave me some options . . . take her off dairy and see if there are any improvements or double her prevacid (which should be her dose anyway based on her size). He's going to talk to the allergist who DID NOT test her for ANY food allergies. I think that we are both leaning towards some additional food intolerance/allergy (he's not assuming dairy). I need to stew it over and decide what I want to do, implement it and check in with him in a month to see where we stand.

We used to do that to each other!! .. . . .I think . .. . .sometimes I wonder . ....I mean, who'd really hide half a junebug in my omelet?

I'm having vague memories of my mom hiding inedibles in our birthday cakes....I seem to remember that she'd throw in not just one coin, but many, so all the kiddies would have the chance to go home with something. Gad....I do remember silver shining up from the toilet bowl at me.... :o

Susie! You must hide a handful of morning glory seeds in your food this evening. You likely will not squeal....you'll just giggle....and giggle.....

My older brother HATED all vegetables. He LOVED mashed potatoes. One meal he left the table to use the bathroom. My oldest brother decided to hide peas in his mashed potatos while he was gone. Mom and Dad sat and watched the drama unfold. It was not pretty. Food being spit out, yelling, laughing and pointing, throwing of silverware . . . ahhh, memories.

I, on the other hand, got in trouble for trying to flush a half of a chicken salad sandwich.

Janet - - your doc sounds good......keep us posted. Seems - from what I've read here and my own experience - that many people CAN go back to dairy if they give it a break? Let's hope?????????????

OMG - just a knock at the door - 'twas Stepford (always a pop-in, never a call) to see if I could watch the dog for her gathering - alas, I was dressed to go out.

But - scariest of all - she just said she wants to take me out to eat to this restaurant I'd mentioned................... GAH!!!!!!!! :o:o:blink:

Looks like another heavy snow overnight. We must be at the store early since our weekly delivery truck will arrive by 8:30.

Morning, guys!

Took the kids in Jack's class out skating yesterday. Was showing off, showing them how to do a really masculine hockey stop (going like hell, then suddenly turning blades and leaning hard, causing a great spray of ice...quite spectacular if done properly, and by a diminutive woman). Well, OF COURSE when it matters I slip and fall on me arse. The bruise is what is now spectacular..... <_<

Morning Sillies

Talk about strange weather this morning it is almost 60 out...I wore a thin sweater to work...in Feb in the dead of winter in PA....how strange!!!! Nice though :) My hopes of skiing this weekend are looking dim. Even if there is snow, its all man made and with the warm temps and then cold temps it will be all ice and no powder....no fun!

So has anyone seen Alex lately? I wonder how the wedding planning is?

How is our parade looking? We cannot disappoint :) A wedding ist a big occasion!!!

Hey, why don't you post an av of you awesome bruise. Is it in the shape of the madonnna and child?

Crazy temperature swings here this year . . . 60 yesterday, suppose to get to -2 on Saturday night.

I agree with the temps Janet, now my hubbie has been home sick for the last 3 days. I blame it on the weather and then I quarentine him...heck I dont need what he has :)

Please post the bruise picture!!!!

Hi knitty kitty, Scott and all, Thanks for kind words and asking!I will def. talk about histamine intolerance  on my next visit to gastro doc. My doc.gastro says that lactose or casein is very unlikely to create marsh 3b histology like gluten in adults in intestines. (that was previous question for Scott) Regarding my last EGD the villy was OK so refractory is out of the question based on my talk with dr. If Scott is right and there are so many intolerance in food for celiac what is left to eat?? And now histamine? I mean what should i eat? Maybe gastritis is doing all this trouble? Thanks Kind regard

@Richardo, I'm in the same boat as you! I can't handle certified gluten free oats at all. Quinoa is the worst, even when I soak it in water and then wash under the tap for 10 minutes ... I have a reaction. It must be an immune system reaction to the proteins in these gluten-free grains.
    • trents
We are all different and our immune systems are unique. I will say, however, that I have not gotten the impression as a moderator and reading hundreds and hundreds of posts on this forum over the years that a dermatitis herpetiformis outbreak caused by grains other than wheat, barley and rye is common. But perhaps it is more common than we have realized and it could be why it it is seems to be common that those who suffer from dermatitis herpetiformis struggle to keep it under control. Perhaps there are qualities found in all cereal grains besides gluten that are contributing factors. Also, have you tried a low iodine diet to see if it helps with your dermatitis herpetiformis? Reportedly, reducing iodine helps some folks afflicted with dermatitis herpetiformis.
    • Richardo
Ok thanks Trents. I had the lesions biopsied and confirmed dermatitis herpetiformis, so I guess dermatitis herpetiformis can be associated with other grains not typically gluten. I appreciate your comment and I'll give Dr Osborne the benefit of the doubt because without him I would never have known of my grain intolerance and would still be suffering today. I simply never read anyone explain how grains could worsen dermatitis herpetiformis and I feel that information should be made much more readily available. Hey if someone tries going grain free and there's no improvement, no loss, however it drastically changed my life for the better and could at least be offered as a suggestion to sufferers from dermatitis herpetiformis. The other option is Dapsome and I wouldn't want anyone taking that chemical if there was a more natural solution. thanks again
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Richardo! We sometimes run across terms like "rice gluten", "corn gluten", and "oat gluten" but they are used informally and, technically, it is incorrect to speak of grains other than wheat, barley and rye as having gluten. Gluten is a protein with a specific structure found only in wheat, barley and rye. Other cereal grains contain proteins that are more or less similar in structure to gluten in some ways but are not actually gluten. Having said that, the proteins found in these other cereal grains are similar enough to gluten to possibly cause cross reactivity in some celiacs. Cross reactivity also happens with non cereal grain foods as well that have a protein structure similar to gluten. A prime example is dairy (the protein "casein"). Another example may be soy. Other foods can also cause cross reactivity for different reasons, such as microbial transglutaminase (aka, "meat glue") used commonly in pressed meat products. Just so you'll know, Dr. Osborne's claims have not received wide acceptance in the celiac community and are looked upon with skepticism by the medical and scientific community. Although he is a board certified nutritionist, his doctorates are actually in chiropractic medicine and pastoral science: https://www.drpeterosborne.com/about/dr-peter-osborne/ I am not sure Osborne has the training and background to address the chemical structure that defines gluten. I would encourage you to do some research on what gluten actually is. I have done this for myself and came away convinced that only wheat, barely and rye actually contain the protein gluten. I do not doubt your claims that you have breakouts of dermatitis herpetiformis from consuming these other grains. I am just contending it is not actually from gluten.
