I'm with Janet I am turning in for the night. The ice is slamming my house and I am hoping to go to work tomorrow, probably not on time but I want to go.

See you all in the morning at some point.

Emily can I borrow the brain to catch up at work.

  this struck me as quite funny - just so casually thrown in there at the end, as if it's a genuine request.

Ummmm, just wanted to mention  that when Amanda said she was "with" me  she didn't mean she was with me

Not that there's anything wrong with that . . .

Janet you are so funny!

Anyhoo-morning Sillies!!!!!

The ride to work was not fun. Once you get to the highways it is just wet and slushy....the other roads it is like an ice/slush mess. Someone honked at me for going slow...Did they think I was going to want to have an accident...people my goodness in such hurries!

Good Morning, Guys!

Gaaaahhhhh.....

Out in yer shorts again today, Mr. Tom? (Said in whiny, racked-with-jeaslousy voice)...More snow coming down. Lots more. The banks are probably up to our windows. GAWD!

Ok, I'm late to the party, but can someone provide insight to me on the Em's famous dad?!

Dad is (was....retired, now) a local radio/TV guy. The memorable work he did on television was on this show:

Open Original Shared Link

For some reason the quality is quite bad...Dunno why.

May cause drowsiness  WTH!?!?! Isn't that the point. Legal issue I'm sure. What's next? Antibiotics with the warning May kill bacteria ???

:lol: Yeah, and don't operate large machinery...Thank gawd that's mentioned, as I'm often about to climb onto my forklift....

Well, isn't it now your duty to request pix . . .oh .. .maybe ~12x/yr at somewhat evenly spaced intervals?

 Yes, I should spread it out...you know what you need to do with seniors to make their lives exciting....

.........tell me all your hopes! Tell me all your hopes and dreams you precious.....loving......WEEEE-ZEL!!!!!!!!!!" and "you are soooooooo special! you're special, special, ssoooooooooo SPECIAL!!!!"

OMG.....Hear exactly this all the time from husband....Gawd, it gets quite taxing, really, to hear him go on....:lol:

Susie I find myself using the word Heinous all the time now.... :)

Yes, me too....my kids, not surprisingly, wince and yell at me each time they hear it, thinking I'm referring to something anal...

Emily can I borrow the brain to catch up at work.

You got it...keep it for the week. Giving the students test this week, so just need to sit there, staring at them....

I've become a fan just from the stories & avatars over these months in Sillyville. Wish the timing was different on the show.

Yeah--me too. I wish I had watched it--I remember seeing the show listed, but figured it was strictly a kid's show. Darn! (sorry--nothing personal, Janet)

Susie I find myself using the word Heinous all the time now....:)

I'm doing that too :P

Ok...I have to ask, a board member keeps referring my name as blueeyedmama and I want to correct her but she has contradicted my posts several times

recently she told me I need to talk to my hospital because we are out of date on our TSH testing with the ranges. She does not understand every lab is different due to the methods they use for testing.

Ugh! Help Sillies Help!

Nikki, that's one sappy cat ya got there! Not out pooping in gardens, killing birds and bringing them onto the bed, cutting themselves up (HEY! Phrasal Verb alert!) in fights, like mine do?:o

Speaking of such things, Jack came home very sad a few days ago as one of the school budgies died. They have two, and the little female who is left is absolutely stricken. She just sits on the post, no chirping, no eating. We are taking a field trip to the pet store for another budgie next week, but in the meantime the kids are very concerned about her.

They put Nick's (the dead one) body in the school freezer, as they always have a ceremony outdoors and an area where they bury their animals. So, we must wait till the spring. Last night I lay awake thinking, "Well...they could put him on the perch frozen and then back into the freezer after a while, before he thaws. Just for a few days, until we have a new one". I really did think this, at 2:30 in the morning. It is amazing what we conceive of at this time, and how it seems quite acceptable. :o:o:lol:

Sillies!!!! What have I done??!!!?? Book club is at my house tonight. This requires some type of dessert on my part. Do I go with something that I've made before??? Noooooo. Do I go with something that is naturally gluten-free like choc fondue & fruit? Noooooooooo. No!!! I've decided to make gluten-free texas cake. Took my original recipe and made a wild-a$$ guess at what I should do modified a few ingedients . . . Well, there's plenty of wine and that's what counts, I guess. Oh yes, and I shouldn't be on here at all . . . should be frantically hiding cleaning up crap! (<---Good Lord!!! A phrasal verb!!)

:lol: ...Bah...I'll just get another spectacular bruise, as she may hit me.

Janet!! So true, life is really just one big Monty Python Skit....at least mine seems to be. Now, we could follow their lead, and just tell the junior elementary kids that we made a mistake and Nick is just resting...reinstate him on the post, then whip him back into the freezer after school. That takes care of their grief. But his little budgie mate...I dunno how easily she'll be fooled. He'll be pretty bloody cold.... :o:lol:

BlueEyedMama reminds me of lyrics to a blues song which I can't quite recall.

recently she told me I need to talk to my hospital because we are out of date on our TSH testing with the ranges. She does not understand every lab is different due to the methods they use for testing.

Howzabout an analogy to ppl w/ different size 'measuring sticks' where both are right in saying "It's 16 long" and "It's 5 and a half".

Or an American in Australia claiming to weigh 220, while they all say "you look about 100, mate".

I thought you were going to ask what kind of wine I'm serving . . .

Tonight's book is Eat Pray Love . . . I did not care for it. Not my type of book and I'm not sure why we even picked it. I know it was an Oprah book and in general, we don't read the Oprah books. 'Course we've only been doing this for a year. In fact tonight's meeting is the one year anniversary, so we are going around the room and giving our favoUrite and least favoUrite books of the year. This book will be my least favoUrite. I didn't even finish and that is the first time that's happened for me and it wasn't due to lack of time. It just could not hold my attention. My favoUrite was probably The Good Earth. Rena's Promise was a close second but it's hard to pick a holocaust book as your favoUrite.

Probably a little more info than you wanted, eh, but I'm procrastinating . . .

Here is my reminder email that I sent out:

Oh Yeah . . . book club at my house tomorrow night at 7:30. If you want to come early and help clean you are more than welcome. If you don't come to clean, then I will ask you to please refrain from writing your names or "Dust Me" on my furniture.

I have noticed lately that although a year ago, I would have sent out the same email, now I'm expecting some sort of witty response or some smiley faced emoticons to acknowledge my great sense of humoUr . . . I blame all of you for this . . .:lol:

gah!!!!! I LOVE your invitation......

everyone wants me to read Eat, Pray, Love - - but I am soooooo tired of people and their treks to the.....ashrams? Is that what they're called? To commune with holy men? Very trendy and.....people throw it in my face a lot....kind of like I used to do when first a Christian

 I am, however, quite interested in the two parts of the book dealing with the massive depression adn then the eating in Italy -

OMG! I had all these quotes 'n stuph and now they're gone and um...I looked for a triangle and a back button and......well now there's just no time, sillies.

Frozen budgie - OMG - I will tell Gail. She is OBSESSED w/ budgies and has about 500 books on same and also on birds of the southeastern hemisphere of the world. Having known her more than 40 years I have been involuntarily forced to learn everything - - Palm Cockatoos, Ledbetter Cockatoos, Solomon Cockatoos, Hyacinth Macaws, but mostly cockatoos, budgies, and grasskeets, Conyers. a total crackup.....I once met a diplomat, in Monterey, from Indonesia and knew that if I didn't ask him about his birds, I'd hear about it later...... He did have many and Gail was OUT OF HER MIND for the report.......

Em - it won't be the same, putting the frozen one on the perch......I do have Stinker's ashes here and actually opened the bag to inspect....let Annie sniff.......um, there was really no recognition insofar as I can tell.

nik - - Hee-nous - that is quite often how newscasters used to say it - - not so much now. Oh wait, in fact, they're too stupid to use the word heinous.

Love Will's adventure

Dang it, I forgot what else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(And an xtra  for Dust Me! )

Here's a funny I saw in today's paper.

At least one art collector spent the equivalent of $40 on an original "Freddie W.R. Linsky" abstract expressionist painting, praising its "flow" and "energy", and a gallery in Berlin made an inquiry about Linsky's other works. Linsky is an enthusiastic 2-year-old, whose mother had him daub ketchup splotches onto canvases and then uploaded the images to art patron Charles Saatchi's online gallery. Mum's caption for one Linsky work was: "The striking use of oriental calligraphy has the kenji-like characters stampeding from the page." (Source: News of the Weird)

I should think that "Henous" would be pronounced as a rhyme for "Dennis"...ugh, hate everything about the world of pronunciation. HEINOUS to teach!!

Have not read it. My girlfriend described it to me and I just thought that anything so solipsistic will have to wait. Not in that mental spot right now...<_<

OMG...we have DH's aunt's ashes in an urn in our bedroom closet. She died two years ago, and we haven't figured out what to do with them. She left NO instructions, and she did not want to be sitting on a shelf in a funeral vault...so, she's in with DH's shoes until the summer, when we'll bury her in a lovely garden somewhere. So bizarre....... <_<

I’m so sorry you’re going through this—it sounds like you’ve been on a really challenging journey with your health. Your symptoms (stomach pains, bloating, low iron, joint pain, brain fog, etc.) do sound like they could be related to gluten sensitivity or another condition like non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). It’s interesting that your bloodwork hasn’t shown celiac markers, but the lymphocytosis in your duodenum could still point to some kind of immune response or irritation, even if it’s not classic celiac disease. The fact that your symptoms improved when you went gluten-free but returned when you reintroduced gluten (especially with the donut incident) is a pretty strong clue that gluten might be a trigger for you. It’s also worth noting that symptoms can be inconsistent, especially if your body is still healing or if there are other factors at play, like stress, cross-contamination, or other food intolerances. Do you have more info about your blood test results? Did they do a total IGA test as well?
    • KDeL
For years, I have dealt with various gluten related symptoms like stomach pains, bloating, IBS-C "ish" digestive issues, low iron, low Vit D, joint pains, brain fog, and more. I finally got a double scope and stomach looks clear, but I have some lymphocytosis of the duodenum. I am wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone, where I have not shown celiac red flags in bloodwork IGA tests. WIll be following up soon with GI Dr, but so far, my symptoms are intermittent. I go back and forth with gluten-free diet (especially this past year.... did two tests where the stomach pains I had went away without gluten in diet. HOWEVER, I added it back a third time and I didn't get the pains)   Anyway, I am so confused and scared to eat anything now because I recently had a few bites of a yeasty donut and I immediately got so sick. Any thoughts??

Kroeger has quite a few Gluten free items.  Right now they are redoing my Kroeger store and are adding everything into the regular sections.  Since this was done some new ones have been added.  Publix and Ingles also have great selections. I actually shop Walmart and Food City to since prices on some items vary from store to store.
    • Scott Adams
Sorry but I don't have specific recommendations for doctors, however, starting out with good multivitamins/minerals would make sense. You may want to get your doctor to screen you for where you different levels are now to help identify any that are low, but since you're newly diagnosed within the past year, supplementation is usually essential for most celiacs.
    • trents
Yes, I can imagine. My celiac journey started with a rejection of a blood donation by the Red Cross when I was 37 because of elevated liver enzymes. I wasn't a drinker and my family doctor checked me for hepatitis and I was not overweight. No answers. I thought no more about it until six years later when I landed a job in a healthcare setting where I got annual CMP screenings as part of my benefits. The liver enzymes were continually elevated and creeping up every year, though they were never super high. My primary care doc had no clue. I got really worried as your liver is pretty important. I finally made an appointment with a GI doc myself and the first thing he did was test me for celiac disease. I was positive. That was in about 1996. After going on a gluten-free diet for three months the liver enzymes were back in normal range. Another lab that had gotten out of whack that has not returned to normal is albumin/total protein which are always a little on the low side. I don't know what that's about, if it's related to the liver or something else like leaky gut syndrome. But my doctors don't seem to be worried about it. One thing to realize is that celiac disease can onset at any stage of life. There is a genetic component but there is also an epigenetic component. That is, the genetic component is not deterministic. It only provides the potential. There needs also to be some health or environmental stressor to activate the latent gene potential. About 40% of the population have the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% actually do.
