How about SillyPlastic?

Captain Silly Yak?

Patti, I didn't know where to post this (I figured you read here more frequently than the OMG  )

I am so sorry about Allo :(

It's so hard watching our pets, beloved members of our family, struggle with aging and all the things that go along with that for them.

You are in my thoughts.

Thank you, Julie :)

Emily--yes, he seems to be in more pain lately. We had x-rays done in December that showed severe arthritis all along his spine and the area over his tail bone was a gnarly mess. He's been on a glucosimine suppliment that helped at first. He's also not using the litter box at all--(Using the carpet...causing us to fix up a place in the basement for him when we can't be right there to watch him) I think it's just too much for him to hop in and out.

It's heartbreaking, but of course it's something that all pet owners will have to contend with sooner or later. It's just so hard to know what to do at this point. Ya know--he's my sweet boy :(

Or SillyphUs.

Gawd--that sounds like a venereal disease :P

And thanks, Donna, for your well wishes about Allo on the other thread :)

G'afternoon all,

Slow brain day here else I'd surely join in on 'name the parakeet'.

(I hope in the end it's not just Pete)

Amanda!! Where's Amanda? Out partying w/ the photog crew?

Em! I saw that Michelle dropped to 4th, but no worries, right? Mannnnnnnny miles to go . .. . . .

Of course only if the bird has metrosexual tendences

Most male birds are pretty metorsexual ... they spend a good portion of their day preening.

Aw Patti, sorry about your sweet boy. :(

Hi, Tom!

Yep. Gotta train myself to check only once a day right now, as it can drive me nuts....kinda like keeping my weigh-ins to only once every couple of weeks....

Patti! So sorry about your wee boy...Aged pets give us such joy, but at times poignant sadness.....I'm sure you're holding and hugging him lots!

Such a sweet boy! He's been your avatar off and on for so long, I feel like I've come to know him with all the stories you have shared.

It must be one a heck of a photo shoot :lol:

So true :)

That's great your SIL is doing so well, is she one of the few women in the race?

Anyways, we bought a little blue parakeet, probably a male. Name is to be determined.....

My grandpa used to have a parakeet and he let my brother and me name him. My grandpa likes Orange Pekoe tea so we named him Pekoe and when he died we buried him with a tea bag.

It's heartbreaking, but of course it's something that all pet owners will have to contend with sooner or later. It's just so hard to know what to do at this point. Ya know--he's my sweet boy :(

Sorry about your sweet boy. He's lucky to have you to love him and take care of him. The good thing about pets is they never waste their lives -- they live every day to the fullest. When we put down our Border Collie August the vet told me that every pet's life is a completed life because they have no regrets -- they live and love and play to the fullest everyday. I thought it was a very poignant thing to say and it was very comforting in the moment.

I have strep throat and an ear infection-- boooo  . It came on very quickly. Started antibiotics today so I should be feeling better soon. I was throwing up last night and I was thinking how unfair it is to puke when you have a sore throat. A painful combination <_< .

Yep, there are three in the final sixteen, an unheard of number. Dawson City is the halfway mark, where she is now, and there is a 24-hour compulsory layover there, to give the dogs adequate rest and veteranairy attention. She has dropped three dogs...you begin with fourteen, and can stay in the race with a minimum of seven. Every time I see she has had to pull a dog out of the team I wince a little. They need as much power as possible in the last few days!

It's in the last few days of the race that I'm just SO excited, nervous, exhilarated, for her! :)

:lol: My apologies, Alex....this did strike me as amusing...

And another Sick Silly! Alex, you've been hit hard with TWO things.....something gastro and ear/throat infection. Double whammy--this sucks. And I know how difficult it can be to control blood sugars when infection sets in. Take care of yourself!

Poor Pekoe--buried with a tea bag! It's terrible that your grandpa lost his bird, but that story made me chuckle. :P

Alex--gosh, I can't think of anything worse than throwing up with a strep throat. Take good care and get lots of rest :) Hope it goes as quickly as it came on ;)

Hi Sillies!

I am at my moms on a whim I decided to take a drive right after the photo shoot.

The photo shoot went well, we actually ended up photographing in the produce department, I got to see the best picture too, they took 30 some. The guy who took the pictures is a photographer who has his own company in NYC. He takes pictures of models and other people in the media. He showed me some of his work. He was very nice, last week he was out taking pictures for Fashion Week. So he has been doing work with Wegmans for years now and he said he enjoys working with them since it is fun and they are very professional.

So in the produce department they had a cart full of food, and I was picking apples. There were cameras around and the umbrellas for light....plus people shopping all around me...which was odd to get used to. He told me I smiled very nice and the other Weggie people said I photo well, which I hope is good. I walked around with their manager for a bit too.

I wore my blue sweater which he said would bring out my eyes. He was so down to earth, is was fun. As soon as they let me know when it will be in the paper I will let you all know.

Cause all my silly friends can see it by going on the Wegmans website and viewing the online flyer. I thought about all of you while I was there.

Tis a snow squall outside now. We just got in from Wally World where I bought a new bathing suit...which was hard since I gained a bit of weight. John stayed behind at home since he is not feeling well. Mom and I will be shopping again tomorrow and then I will go home tomorrow night.

Just had to share with you all, thanks for all your support today.

Patti-I am praying for Allo, I know how hard it was to watch Lucky when I was sick.

Good morning, Sillies.....

It's suddenly a long weekend here in Ontario for a lot of us, as our provincial government implemented what they've called a "Family Day" on the third Monday of February, effective this year. I suppose we'll be planning some snowy family activities...

So you must be off Monday as well, Peter. Hope your brain transplant is progressing well, and no anti-rejection drugs are needed.

Sounds like the shoot went well, Amanda! Let us know when we can see the pic online. You've done all of us celiacs proud! ;):)

Well, Emily, I hate to inform you of this, but you are NOT celebrating a "family day"!!! You are indeed celebrating the US Open Original Shared Link. They probably thought you Canucks might not be inclined to participate if they told you what it really was.

Bravo Amanda!!! We'll be looking forward to you modelling debut.

Well, I have to tell you that I am thoroughly caught up in the excitement of the Yukon Quest and I go and check on Em's SIL frequently (and am dissappointed when I find that they are STILL resting - yes, I know it's necessary - but I'm ready for some excitement). I'm now off to see who has left Dawson City.

Yup, the guv says we have to pay our staff to not work on Monday. Until this year, the law provided eight statutory holidays, but we actually gave our staff ten paid days off each year. We are considering keeping the total at ten.

The new hardware is working fine, but it takes a long time to find all the little things that need to be tweaked so things work the way you want them to. The good news is that I'm running xp--I didn't get Vista shoved down my throat.

I'm anxious to see Amanda's story online at Wegmans.

I shall email BIL and tell him about the virtual following of Michelle. She actually is quite an underdog (pun intended)...Some illness/injury during last year, of her and her lead dog, plus being female, no one expected much to be happening with her for this race. In fact, her being in it at all caused many seasoned mushers to raise eyebrows. LOVE IT!! You go, grrrrrrrrlll! :)

Yes, I hear you on the Vista issue....I stupidly had it shoved down MY throat when we got this computer last year. Unanimously disliked around here....

Hi Judy :D

He's good--laying in a patch of sunlight on the floor right now next to me. He's washing himself--which is a good sign.

Yes, I'd like to know also if a "total IGA" test was ever ordered. It checks for IGA deficiency. If you are IGA deficient, it will likely render the individual celiac IGA antibody tests invalid. Total IGA goes by other names as well:  Immunoglobulin A (IgA) Test Serum IgA Test IgA Serum Levels Test IgA Blood Test IgA Quantitative Test IgA Antibody Test IgA Immunodeficiency Test People who are IGA deficient should have IGG tests run as well. Check this out:    I am also wondering if your on again/off again gluten free experimentation has sabotaged your testing. For celiac disease testing to be valid, one must be eating generous amounts of gluten for weeks/months leading up to the test.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this—it sounds like you’ve been on a really challenging journey with your health. Your symptoms (stomach pains, bloating, low iron, joint pain, brain fog, etc.) do sound like they could be related to gluten sensitivity or another condition like non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). It’s interesting that your bloodwork hasn’t shown celiac markers, but the lymphocytosis in your duodenum could still point to some kind of immune response or irritation, even if it’s not classic celiac disease. The fact that your symptoms improved when you went gluten-free but returned when you reintroduced gluten (especially with the donut incident) is a pretty strong clue that gluten might be a trigger for you. It’s also worth noting that symptoms can be inconsistent, especially if your body is still healing or if there are other factors at play, like stress, cross-contamination, or other food intolerances. Do you have more info about your blood test results? Did they do a total IGA test as well?
    • KDeL
For years, I have dealt with various gluten related symptoms like stomach pains, bloating, IBS-C "ish" digestive issues, low iron, low Vit D, joint pains, brain fog, and more. I finally got a double scope and stomach looks clear, but I have some lymphocytosis of the duodenum. I am wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone, where I have not shown celiac red flags in bloodwork IGA tests. WIll be following up soon with GI Dr, but so far, my symptoms are intermittent. I go back and forth with gluten-free diet (especially this past year.... did two tests where the stomach pains I had went away without gluten in diet. HOWEVER, I added it back a third time and I didn't get the pains)   Anyway, I am so confused and scared to eat anything now because I recently had a few bites of a yeasty donut and I immediately got so sick. Any thoughts??
    • Peggy M
Kroeger has quite a few Gluten free items.  Right now they are redoing my Kroeger store and are adding everything into the regular sections.  Since this was done some new ones have been added.  Publix and Ingles also have great selections. I actually shop Walmart and Food City to since prices on some items vary from store to store.
    • Scott Adams
Sorry but I don't have specific recommendations for doctors, however, starting out with good multivitamins/minerals would make sense. You may want to get your doctor to screen you for where you different levels are now to help identify any that are low, but since you're newly diagnosed within the past year, supplementation is usually essential for most celiacs.
