Florida was GREAT! We were in St Pete Beach and did a day trip to Sanibel where I got more shells than I know what to do with and saw dolphins really close to shore!

BEV!!! I spent the day on Sanibel once, back when Dad still lived in FL.

Closest thing in the states to a South Pacific feel that I'VE been to anyway. Reminded me of Boracay. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Seriously- oh wait! Spring break? March or April? If it's march I'll be in cancun filming Lymies gone wild- IV lines are the new sexy :P :P

Except when David wears those buttless chaps!!!!!!!!

Which David?

:lol::P

You all had me reminiscing back to MY younger days (second oldest phart here, somewhere between Peter and Patti).

As a date at a VMI (nikki - Virginia Military Institute and at the time a totally male institute) I saw Tina Turner WITH IKE. I am sure that it was quite a night for many a maiden

You only get to order me around once a reign . . . are you sure you want to use it up so early????

Good point .. . ..I'll save it. :P

Twas . . . The Kings "This Beat Goes On/Switchin' to Glide"

Tooooooooo toooooooooooooo funny - I very recently discovered I HAVE this mp3 on one of the mp3 C.D.s I made before flash players existed.

I mainly listen to Classic Rock. I grew up listening to it and really have grown fond of the bands from the 60's and 70's. Those are what are mainly on my IPOD.

My first concert was Aerosmith and I was in the 5th row, center. It was wonderful. I think saw Goo-Goo Dolls at a college campus before they got big. I have seen Journey twice now, Forgeiner, Peter Frampton, BonJovi.

Bon Jovi is in concert in March in Philly but I can't go.

I would love to see Van Halen though

We have similar tastes in music Amanda, I'm a big Classic Rock fan :)

Aerosmith was one band I didn't get to see in the 80s/90s that I would have like to.

Van Halen was awesome, saw them in the "Sammy" days when they toured with Monsters of Rock.

Speaking of college campus concerts, I saw Modern English when they came to my school in 1990..you know that song Open Original Shared Link??

This was years after the song was popular, there were about 100 or 150 of us that showed up in this small room, talk about up close and personal! It was fun though.

VH came to fresno recently!! once with sammy and then another time with david

i perfer sammy over david!

I do too!! I LOVE Van Halen with Sammy.

5150 and 0U812 were pretty much the soundtracks for my high school days

Count me in for Rick Springfield.

I lurve Rick Springfield, is there any song better than Jesse's Girl?!?

I cut my teeth on 70's stuff--lots of Motown, 3 Dog Night, Elton, Chicago, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan (Deacon Blues--possibly the greatest song ever).

"Your Song" by Elton John reminds me of walking home from school with my best friend, Sandy, before I had a care in the world

Music played such a huge role in my life growing up and even as an adult. When my older son was born (1981), I had my transistor radio (!) with me at the hospital and "The Tide is High" by Blondie will always remind me of that night.

Yep--hearing a song will put me back to a place in time.....

Neil Diamond, I would LOVE to see him in concert!

Patti, that is so true about music bringing you back to a certain place and time.

Blondie's "The Tide Is High" brings back so many memories for me as well. I was just 8 or so and had just gotten a new record player. I was so excited, my mom took me to a Peaches record store to pick something out to break it in and I picked out Blondie's Autoamerican. I played that record over and over and over again. The Tide Is High was one of my favorites.

I just saw that he is gonna be on Oprah today.

I saw that too :D

Saw Genesis at Wembley Stadium London - - GAD!!! I felt grown up!!! (I was only allowed to go as I was with my brother!! )

GGGGaaaaaaaaaaWWWWDDDD!!!!! Surely NOT the English ska band????????:D

Nikki, this sounds so fabulous! You say it like it's no big deal, oh yeah I saw Genesis at WEMBLEY

Hee hee, living vicariously through Nikki

Oh yes, Madness. They were very poplular in the states, their videos a staple on a little ole newly born network called the MTV!!!!

Green12 Enthusiast

Part dos, busted for over quoting

Me, too, Patti! We had music playing in my house growing up literally all the time. My mom plays piano, my dad the uke, and if they weren't playing we were listening to Duke Ellington, Frank, Gershwin, big swing bands...

My dad had musical numbers he'd write for his show that ran in the 60's and 70's, and I used to watch him while perched on the stairway, as he practiced an intricate soft-shoe or lip-synced some Al Jolson....Then he'd come to the dinner in full black-face, and we'd tell him not to get makeup on his serviette...:lol:

Me three, music was a big part of my childhood. My parents loved music and it was always playing in the house, lots of "oldies" 60s music, Elvis, 5th Dimension, Johnny Mathis, Neil Diamond, John Denver.

Then when my brother and I got a little older we took over with Kiss, Blondie, and REO Speedwagon...and the rest is rock history

i was king when i had this recorded from teh stereo speakers onto my portable casette player! i would bring it school and we'd rock out !

 Lymies are all the rage

Glad you had such a great time in Florida :)

Ok.....I'm about to reveal something that goes way beyond bodily functions and other things I've shared here. I was in the AV club in high school. Kissey's post reminded me of it--I'd bring in 3 45's per day and play them over the loudspeaker after the Pledge and before the announcements. I always got rave reviews on my Seals and Crofts.

Having a deja vu moment........I do recall a conversation about this before because I remember this little unknown fact about you Patti :lol:

DingoGirl Enthusiast

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! busted for too many quotes again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nicola's query - where is kissey:

Kissey - not here - somewhere else - - but we are actually sharing the same brain so it's okay when he's gone.

Day On The Green #2: Foreigner, Loverboy, Scorpions, Iron Maiden (July 18, 1982).

Day On The Green #1: Journey, Triumph, Eddie Money, Bryan Adams, Night Ranger (July 30, 1983).

Gary Moore was originally slated to appear but was replaced on the bill by Night Ranger.

Day On The Green #3: The Police, The Fixx, Madness, Oingo Boingo, and The Thompson Twins (September 3, 1983).

Kissey has a small hint but doesn't QUITE know the extent to which I disdain crowds/concerts/loud events with throngs of people (Alex, I totally can relate!!!!).

I did see The Police w/ Oingo Boingo here in Fresno in 1980-something.......but look at Kissey's Day On The Green 1 and 2 - those are bands they watch in hell. Don't tell him I said that.

OMG guess what you guys........you all know how much I LOOOOOOOOOAATHE musicals and plays............guess where I'm going Thursday night w/ Squats: a musical dinner play of the worst possible calibRE. Yup, a local thing I have avoided for 20-plus years - I think I went once, decades ago.........so we're seeing this play with some of his friends. My mom snorted quite madly in the phone and took great joy in telling me that her friend has seen the play that we are in fact seeing, and that it was quite bad.

I'm taking a flask. Or else, maybe just some LSD before hand...... ?

<response to Julie welcoming Kissey>

 kissey is the funnest word and it just makes you really happy to say it. Kissey, Kissey KISSEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VH came to fresno recently!! once with sammy and then another time with david

i perfer sammy over david!

Kissey went to Van Halen concerts? oh dear......he's such a metal head. How can this work out? Alas, I have converted him to my music. Slowly, the brainwashing is working..... (I DO have a couple of Van Halen tunes on my Ipod, BTW).......

In response to Patti's post:

Three Dog Night was part of my early childhood........the rest were high school. Except - - OMG - dare I say it here??????????? am I the ONLY person who abhors and doesn't remotely comprehend the appeal of Neil Diamond?????????????? help me.........

Peter/Scooter!!!!!!!!!!!! A Silly is ALWAYS young!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if it was possible to sound any dorkier, I went through a mildly rebellious stage when I was 19 and I knew one thing that would anger my dad the most was to take up smoking, but my first attempt ended up in me gagging and vomiting in front of a bunch of smokers. We're not even talking about MJ here (that's a entirely different embarrassing story), just plain old cigarettes. I still feel nauseated when I'm around someone smoking.

 I started smoking cigars in 7th grade w/ my best friend Susie Bailey. But can't do them now - will vomit (green-faced emoticon)

GGGGaaaaaaaaaaWWWWDDDD!!!!! Surely NOT the English ska band????????

Madness, The Specials, English Beat - - I saw all of them!!!!!!!!!! Still play almost DAILY some English Beat and Special Beat Service. Kissed Dave Wakeling on the cheek at concert in Monterey, where I saw him three times.

Oh. Fee Waybill of The Tubes kissed ME on the cheek as I was front-and-center, standing on the table, at a small concert here in town when I was young and hot - decades ago.

Yeah - - well - if Susie likes ya ...you must be ok ;)

oh.........he's more than okay............but don't get me started.........I could go on and on and on..............he's a DREAM. ;)

<okay, OKAY! I"ll stop now>

"Feelin' Stronger Every Day" was another of my personal theme songs last summer as I went thru the awakening of getting my life back. <gittin a lil verklempt now>

thanks for that memory! I just this second downloaded it from Itunes!! :) I do have Kid Charlemagne on my ipod, FYI........Steely Dan was HUGE for us in high school.........and The Stones, Journey (scary - can't ever listen to them again, unlike all other things), Van Halen....lots of Ska including The Clash......and many more.

Me, too, Patti! We had music playing in my house growing up literally all the time. My mom plays piano, my dad the uke, and if they weren't playing we were listening to Duke Ellington, Frank, Gershwin, big swing bands...

My dad had musical numbers he'd write for his show that ran in the 60's and 70's, and I used to watch him while perched on the stairway, as he practiced an intricate soft-shoe or lip-synced some Al Jolson....Then he'd come to the dinner in full black-face, and we'd tell him not to get makeup on his serviette...

Em........your childhood homelife sounds idyllic and dreamy.......and if we ever do have a sillyville reunion, yer dad's a' comin.......................

by the by... im not pullin any fingurs 'round here !!

smart boy.......best not to........but a sidenote on that: Nikki didn't know what "pull my finger" meant as evidently they don't acknowledge that sacred little ritual across the pond........alas, we introduced it to her - her boys love it and so - now it's spreading like wildfire. I think I saw The Queen sticking out her finger to a guard the other day................

P.S DON'T LET Susie watch ANY cable TV ( she will NEVER move off the couch )

Kissey already heard my squeal of delight as I blasted out his ear over the phone when I realized I could watch FOOD PORN at his house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG - we had The Knack on 8-track in the early 80's, on this ski boat we had. at the end of the summer, I threw that 8-track and a few others into the lake...............sorry for the polluting........(shame-faced emoticon) but I couldn't take it any more.....ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Part Deux coming up..........

Ok while we're on the music topic, I'm hearing an awesome variety on my old mp3 C.D.s on the ride to WhF - and  catching up on posts now sitting in pkg lot

Right now one of the 1st Sade songs, "By Your Side".

"Protection" by Massive Attack; the only Fiona Apple song I liked; "Haunted" by Love&Rockets; "We Only Get What We Give" by the New Radicals & Nick Drake's "Pink Moon".

Gah!!!!! Too much to .. ..which to reply(!)

But, yeah, my Needle Dimundo (as we somehow called Neil D in our youth) appreciation doesn't go much past 1975's Hot August Night.

My son appears to be crossing over too . . . got off the school bus with an "I'm reaaallllly cold" . . . now he's running a fever of 101. . . so I guess it's when you start running the fever.

And here is a shocker, the school nurse ended up in the hospital ICU for about a week with double pnuemonia(sp?). I don't think she's home yet. They say she'll end up off work for about a month. Hopefully she'll come back but I heard she was thinking about retiring and this may be the deciding factor.

Kingy say Dingy go download that "By Your Side" (augh! you better NOT have some inexplicable gluten-brain disdain for Sade!!) for a dingoland snuggled singalong.

Such a sweet song of unconditional love.

And I particularly like the way the lyrical phrasing extends outside the musical.

"Hold youuuuuu tiiiiiiight" .. . .<and ya think it's over. .but then>

"to me"

I'd guess the range is right .. . .Susie kinda alto-ish?

Test results came back for everything that was tested now. Cholesterol is off the charts high. Not sure if that’s related to celiac, I have no idea how it could be so high. Also tested positive for H pylori  infection… is there a link to celiac and H pylori? Or am I just experiencing symptoms of the H pylori infection?
    • ChrisSeth
I’m reading that some sites list a high Immunoglobulin A result for my age above 300, another site says above 356, and other sites are saying above 400. I don’t know what to make of this result 🤷‍♂️
    • trents
You got some bum steers my friend. I have little confidence that you can trust your test results as differentiating between NCGS and celiac disease. And I think you would be much more likely to have gotten that note you need if you had been diagnosed with celiac disease. But believe me, I understand the predicament you are in with regard to the risks of repeating the gluten challenge. We have heard this story many times on this forum. People experiment with the gluten free diet before getting an official diagnosis and then cannot tolerate the gluten challenge later on when they seek an official diagnosis.
    • Jason Hi
For the upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, they said 7 days of gluten. So I did 8...fast food and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. For the earlier blood test, the younger doctor said I didn't have to. My immune system went down, I was in the bathroom a lot, and as my wife said my brain wasn't braining.
