Morning Sillies! I am so tired this morning....literally wiped out. I even went to bed early last night. If I had my way I would go back home and climb in bed. I am sure I would not have trouble falling asleep.

Carry On All!

Morning, Sillies! Hey, Amanda...you on here yet? Didn't check.....

Speaking of which... tomorrow is a minor milestone for me. I'm going to my old college to fill out financial aid paperwork. I was an English major before, so I need to get a couple Bio classes in next fall before I apply to nursing school.

Sarah, this is terrific!! The world needs more great nurses. You shall breeze through the program and then move here to Ontario, where the nursing shortage is truly dire. Then, you will treat my dad in his final years and we'll all know he's got somebody fantastic wif 'im. What a dream........ :)

I've been thinking about your dad, Emily. I hope he was able to get his test done and that everything looks good. I hope the hospital takes better care of him -- makes me sad to think of him in the hall for hours .

Thanks, Alex. The real problem is the fact that he is an "ideal" patient--never complains, has a staggering pain threshold....so he tends to be put down the list of priorities in the triage system. It's his choice, I realize...he could become that squeaky wheel and perhaps garner the attention that's really needed....Bah! These old, stiff upper-lip codgers!:rolleyes:

Mygawd.....he told me that when he was on the gurney waiting, with the back of the bed up a little so that he was semi-upright, a nurse came by and noticed that he was suddenly tilted over to the left. She immediately put a pillow on his left side to support him.

A few minutes later, he was suddenly tilting to the right, and the same nurse happened by and jammed a pillow on his right side with a "here, Mr. Lye, let me put this in here for you".

Then he tells me a male nurse is at the station and glances over to see Dad leaning forward. He hurries over and puts a small cushion behind his back. "There you go, Mr. Lye". What attention! My sister came into the observation area, saw all the supporting pillows and said something like, "Wow, Dad. Nice to see you're being looked after. Not such a bad place, is it?"

He immediately replies, "Well I guess it's okay. But they don't let me fart".:lol:

Is a light salad anything like a big salad? Can she crumble crackers in it? :P

Patti is perplexed....nothing new there, though :lol:

Patti  Big Salad................gah!!!!!!!! CAn you guys believe......Kissey virtually NEVER and I mean NE-he-he-HEVER watches TV - - I have to explain Seinfeld references to him....geez....nine years of my life and then some to that show.......have seen everyone about five times......but Kissey? he only saw one or two.......

Jenn's having coffee w/ Dr. Light Salad later today. AT 5:30. Does that mean.....light coffee?? is it.......JUST coffee? can she have a bagel er sumfin?

OMG - Sarah - - your nursing school news - yay! Yes, Dr. Salad IS a cute doctor - from the photo we've seen - but particularly dweebish.......we are needing someone McDreamier or McSteamier.........maybe he has friends??

OMG....

Actually, this has gotten me thinking......

Do you think there is a market for painted toilets? I mean, fascinating trompe l'oieul effects....mouths that open, manhole covers into sewers, compact disc players that open, etc. This may be a whole new area for me to explore. As soon as I saw the cheese toilet, my immediate reaction was, "Well.....they could've made it look a lot more like cheese..." It should've been painted as a Philly creme cheese container that you open or sumfin. Hmmmmmm, a ponderable......

<scratching chin> a brilliant idea....but I am SOOOOOOOOOOO grossed out by even being NEAR a toilet......do you guys know that I have to cover my eyes or leave the room if there's a scene in a movie where someone is barfing/lying down next to/touching a toilet in any way? or the walls of a public bathroom???????????

:irrationalphobiaoftoiletsface:

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! 3/4 Irish for me. I temporarily lost my mind and went out to the bar with some friends. The fact that I'm home by 10 is a clue to my level of enjoyment of the outing <_<. Not really my scene anymore; not sure it ever really was. I almost got vomited on by a very drunk 19 year old (well I'm assuming it was her first legal St. Patty's dad anyway ). I'm so glad that I was never that girl who got so schnockered that I vomited on strangers. Very unattractive !

We were to meet some people at 5:30 at the Irish pub near my house.....the parking lot - packed as never before seen - - mygawd - people SCREAMING and spilling into the parking lot, drunken and green.........I couldn't do it........we'd have never gotten in. I was SOOOOOO relieved - we had eveyrone over to Kissey's and THEY ate pizza.......

but anywho Alex - WAY more fun than being in a bar on this day! I used to like it also - now it's the same as New Year's EVe - can't stand being out...........

I didn't take the picture of the toilet, just for the record (but someone I know did  )

 well WHO did it? and in what "strange city?"

and BTW Mango - - in your av - - is that a photo of a bunch of MAKEUP?

"Wow, Dad. Nice to see you're being looked after. Not such a bad place, is it?"

He immediately replies, "Well I guess it's okay. But they don't let me fart".

 Stinker crapped for America, I think.........SOOOOOOOOOO much......'tis much more manageable and w/ nice, solid stools w/ just Weezer here........................

Tom - sorry you're feeling punkish but - the beer sounds good!

oh sillies - I"m mad w/ worry - David has an eye condition that is getting worse adn worse - - red, inflamed skin and raised bumps around the eye - and the eye HURTS him - went to dr. - she said - precancerous :o (who knows).....last night, w/ people at Kissey's house - he said suddenly that he lost the vision in that eye for about 15 minutes.............mygawd........ (his unclce died of a brain tumoUr at 42)...........I am frantically getting him into the doctor.......but was up until 3 last night, sick w/ worry.........

I canNOT lose my Kissey...............................................

I actually didn't even notice the visible wee while posting last night  . I guess posting a pic of a cheese toilet with the lid up is always a risk. You never know what will show up on such a thing...

I hope kissey's eye gets better soon. :D

Oh, and does it look like make-up in my av? haha...nope... definitely not make-up. It's actually a lame av to have up on a celiac board. Must go change it.

I need to explain....this was actually 2 Seinfield references. The cracker crumbling part was from when they were trying to decide what constituted a "full meal". Soup qualified, evidently, if it had crackers crumbled in it--it sorta fit with the whole "light salad" thing. I'll shut up now. B)

Ok so here is a story about work today....I left out names so there is just intitials. C is my cubie mate. W is the one who called me a stalker.

Ok so here is what happened. C asked me if I could do her a favor and call these 2 labs and ask for reference ranges. I said sure, since she was real busy. I called 2, and the first faxed stuff over and the second was going to have someone call me back. It wasnt until the 2nd call I found out from that lab that W had called yesterday. So later on while they were at the gym, W came over and I told her I called the lab too. She got real mad and asked why I was calling...I explained and she was like well why is she asking you...blah blah blah. So when C came back I gave her the ranges which I did get and told her W seemed upset, she said she was sorry for putting me in that position I told her not to worry about it, no harm done. She asked if I wanted to go down to the cafe and I said sure. So we were stopped by W and she told me from now on I need to stay out of other peoples things. Then she turned to C and said why did you bring her into it....Did I tell you yesterday I made those calls....You are helping me and there is no reason to bring Amanda into it. SO we walked away. I could tell C wanted to cry, she was all red and she quietly apologized again.

I went to lunch came back 20 minutes later, C was crying at her desk, saying she was sick of her job....I now know I am not the only one....

OMG his destiny is to forever be known as Dr. Light Salad, and as off as the whole thing presents, I nevertheless feel some responsibility, as a male, to offer a benefit-of-the-doubt scenario.

Maybe he made the mistake of thinking out loud about what HE HIMSELF might eat at a time which conflicts w/ his normal usual quirky but regimented eating schedule?

I canNOT lose my Kissey...............................................

And you will not. :sterntruthfulface:

I expect any attempts to dispel the worry to be futile.

Gaaaaahhhhh..... :faceofnausea: a cheesy toilet.......

I went to lunch came back 20 minutes later, C was crying at her desk, saying she was sick of her job....I now know I am not the only one....

Well, there's an obvious common denominator with the ill feelings at work, and it starts with a "W".....

Maybe he made the mistake of thinking out loud about what HE HIMSELF might eat at a time which conflicts w/ his normal usual quirky but regimented eating schedule?

I was thinking the same thing upon SOBER second thought (i.e., absintheless pondering)...the poor blighter....probably just wanted to suggest some small snacky thing as opposed to a full-blown dinner, as the time was kind of in-between.

Still.....a light salad does sound awfully....sappy? feminine? Unsettling, somehow. So! It's henceforth Dr. Lightsalad.

WEIRDness??????

That wouldn't get weird until we have the Yeti & Chuck Norris juggling flaming cheese toilets in a parade!!!!!

Mygawd...d'ya think we're nuts, Ptaum? We would never suggest such things....:lol:

Well, no one here knows it but once I have a child I may go back to my old job and work parttime on 2nd shift so we would not have to seek child care. With the economy right now it is too tricky to move on.... the job market is so unstable. So in 10 yrs, I may not be here, and maybe not even in a year....the occurence today focused more on my cubie mate than myself...and I didnt even get upset by it...more on that later once I am home.....in a safe zone.

My buddies and I vent to each other on the ferry and since we can't possibly remember the names of each other's co-workers we make up names appropriate to either the personality or the exasperating situation that first brought up the need to talk about them.

I work with bed-head girl and slacker guy. My friends used to work with rat-b*stard.

Hi, I'm hoping to get some advice on how to handle Mass as a new Catholic.  I'm looking to take the Mass for the first time in March.  I've been told that the church has a "low gluten" option that is 0.01% gluten.  Is this safe, especially to do every week?   I also read that taking the wine instead could be more of a problem if it gets contaminated with regular crumbs.   I found this information online:  "The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, Missouri, have developed a Communion host that is extremely low in gluten. The host is made from gelatinized wheat starch. The Sisters report the hosts test to a level of 0.01% gluten. At that level, the lowest that could be tested, no gluten was detected. This means that there is less than 0.01% gluten in one of these hosts. The Secretariat for the Liturgy of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has stated that these hosts meet the requirements of the Code of Canon Law (924 §2) and may be validly used at the celebration of the Eucharist with permission of the person's pastor. The Catholic with celiac disease can now fully participate in Holy Communion with the whole parish family. Catholic celiacs may choose to receive consecrated wine at a regular communion station if their parish offers communion under both species. There is greater risk for contamination using this option. The fraction rite may allow small, yet dangerous crumbs to be in the cup." Thank you for any guidance!

My son was diagnosed with Celiac Disease is April 2023. His ttg antibody was over 100 at the time of diagnosis. Now it is at 3 (which is considered negative), but his endomysium antibody iga is still coming up positive. There is no specific number just positive or negative so I'm not sure if he's getting better or not. I'm getting nervous that something else is going on and I was just looking for some advice or an understanding what this "postive" actually means. He gets tested every 6 months. Thank you so much for any responses😊 Attached is a picture of his bloodwork from August 2024

@JenFur, if this is microwave popcorn you are using, check for added ingredients that could be causing a reaction such as flavorings which might be hidden sources of gluten.

Welcome to the forum, @mark w! Did you hit the "Submit Reply" button before you finished typing your post? The thought seems incomplete and there is no punctuation to terminate it at the end of the sentence. Are you stating that you believe the odd episode of being "glutened" is responsible for your ongoing fatigue or are you asking the question of could it be due to that?
