Ohhhh!!! That sounds like a good deal to me!!!! I shall contribute my (gluten-free) choc chip cookies (my friend in Massachusetts couldn't stay away from them) and some asian chicken lettuce wraps (a PF Changs knock-off).

Leave the absinthe to me....... ;)

HEY!! Some great news for our cause!

The Ripper has been really wanting to write a letter into our local newspaper about his experience on a gluten-free diet. Yesterday, he sat down at the computer and composed a very mature, well-thought out letter. We emailed it off as last night. My cell phone rang at 8:35 this morning - - they're printing it, and a photographer is coming over tomorrow to take our picture! So when it is published, I'll post the link....

Guess he shouldn't have ended the letter off with the question, "Would you eat a piece of poop for a life of guaranteed perfect health?"

OK- on the brighter side I am fostering a wee love bug named Sadie (see new avatar). She is so sweet and she and Angus are madly in love! They kiss constantly. It's good as Kurt is leaving for New Orleans (Jazz Fest) on Wednesday for 6 days.

Hi Bev :D Sorry you haven't been doing so well, stupid lyme!

Sadie is soooo cute, if I were closer I would take her, then our kids could be married :wub:

:lol::lol:

Well, Sophie's appointment went well, just more paper to add to the already huge file on her accident that we'll be presenting to the school board fairly soon...

In September '04, during the first week of school, Sophie, then 12, was outside for her gym class. This day was 94 degrees and blisteringly humid. They were doing football drills. Sophie asked to go in and get water, and the teacher said no, they'd be all going in shortly. Sophie asked again ten minutes later, and was again not let in to get water. Finally, they all were told to head inside. Sophie rushed in to the water fountain, by this time dying of thirst and weak, and there was already a big lineup at the fountain. She asked the teacher if she could go to the fountain down the hallway, and the teacher said, "No. Stay in this line, please".

And that's all Sophie remembers.

She woke up on the floor, blood everywhere. She'd passed out due to a sudden blood-pressure drop, due to lack of hydration. Her four front teeth were completely smashed in and hanging. The braces she'd just had put on, fortunately, kept her teeth from being all over the floor.

I got called, and went to the school. No ambulance had been called. Just me.

So, the story meanders on from there, but she's had all the teeth reset, splinted, filed down and root canalled. We're now getting estimates on what can be expected in years to come, because the claim can only continue for five years.

:(:( My poor kid. But she's been AMAZING through it all. SO brave, it's astonishing. Thank gawd, because I've often been a mess.....

Emily, this is appauling...totally inexcusable. Was this 94 degrees C? And was it the same teacher both outside and at the drinking fountain?

I'm so sorry for all she had to go through with her teeth, what a trooper she is.

OK, tomorrow is the big day . . . I have to read my nomination letter at the big nurses luncheon . . . NOT big as in they all weigh over 250lbs but big as in it's suppose to be about 1000 people. Yeah!!! you heard me!!!! ONE THOUSAND PEOPLE!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not that I'm panicking or anything.

Janet, picturing the big nurses nekkid might help :lol:

Tom, glad you had a good time.

Susie, sounds like you ahd a really great weekend. Can't wait to hear more details about it all, and the mini kissey meet :D

Amanda, congrats to your friend.

Put me down to bring gluten-free chocolate cake and carrot cake!!

94 F...About 38 C. :angry::angry:

Yes, it was the same teacher denying her access to water the whole time. A young, very pretty teacher, new to the school....

She was gone the following year.

Anyways, our claim will end up being thousands upon thousands of dollars....

New front teeth for ma girl.

Well......she could have broken her jaw, but was very lucky. So we must remind ourselves of this...

Ohhhhhhhhhh!! I wanna meet MY SILLIEEEEESSSS!!! Gluten-free chocolate chip cookies, lettuce wraps, bakery stuff, absinthe, and us, chortling and guffawing......A Silly Rendezvous..... :wub::wub:

Bev!! What a beeeeeooooootiful dog Sadie is.....Mygawd, how on earth will you be able to give her away? It would be SO tough for me to be doggie foster-mom. I would just keep them all, and have twenty three dogs at the end of a year. <_<:rolleyes:

Hope you're feeling better soon, Bev.

Thanks!!!!! she is very sweet!!!!!!!!!!

WTH!! I say we start flinging flying squirrels at that teacher.

OMG Emily- I think I would've punched her!!!!!!!!! That is HORRID. I taught middle school and I ALWAYS let my kids go get drinks/pee because although some of them may have been pulling my leg, I wasn't about to let one of them get sick or pee their pants. This makes me SO SO SO SO angry!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhh!!! That sounds like a good deal to me!!!! I shall contribute my (gluten-free) choc chip cookies (my friend in Massachusetts couldn't stay away from them) and some asian chicken lettuce wraps (a PF Changs knock-off).

I would totally eat a piece of poop. Happily! With a sh!t-eating grin on my face! B) Serve it up with a knife and fork, baby I'll take one turd and a couple tubes of toothpaste to go!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome news about the paper, I can't wait to see it.

I'd want to punch that teacher, too. :angry: What an idiot.

Gidday, Sillies!

Wow, it was indeed quiet yesterday...I was thinking back to last summer when we were in parade-planning mode...I'd leave the computer for an hour, check back and there would be two pages to read! I think there was a stretch where we hammered out ten pages a day...

Well, Alex's wedding is soon, is it not? Time to put the floats through a spring tune-up and 21-point inspection....

:lol::lol: OMG.....

If my diabetes would disappear, I'd eat almost anything, methinks. Poop would likely be one of the toughest to get down, but I think I could muster up enough mental grit.

...Toothpaste on top?! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww! :blink::lol:

Less than two weeks -- :blink: Yikes! Actually things are pretty much in place. But I'm starting to get some butterflies thinking about it.

We're still trying to choose between two songs for our first dance: Better Together by Jack Johnson or Into the Mystic by Van Morrison. Better Together seems more like a wedding song but at the same time seems a little clich

jerseyangel Proficient
We're pretty set on How Sweet it is to be loved by you by James Taylor for the father-daughter/mother-son dance. Admittedly a little corny and overdone I'm sure, but we like it!

Love it! Not corny at all :D

Gosh, 2 weeks!!!! Just don't forget to breathe--it'll all work out the way it is supposed to ;)

How's Ryan doing with everything?

I was thinking of you, Bev, when I posted the question. Figured you'd be right on board....

Considering how I can feel my gag reflex culminating at the mere thought of a large piece of poop on a plate in front of me, and my fork poised, I just don't think I could manage it, even with the guarantee of the diabetes disappearing.

Haven't got strong enough stuff. :rolleyes::lol:

Alex! I must go listen to Better Together as I don't think I know it.

This was our first dance:

Actually, I would love to have had that Love and Marriage video playing on a big screen behind us as we danced....such fabulous footage of great romantic screen moments.... :)

Nikki, you never told us whether you'd eat some poop to have perfect health. But wait - - you already have that. All right, to have ten (fifteen?) pounds suddenly vanish--forever.

Yeah, that's mighty tempting as well....

True... I don't think Brian would ever kiss me again, perfect body-fat % or no. Weak stomach. Hmm.... I'd do it anyway! :lol:

You know... I never got in on the feet/butt face conversation because it was too freaky-gross. This one though, is doable. :lol:

So glad that Son of Silly had such a good time!!!

Well,......<stroking chin thoughtfully>

I wouldn't say I have 'perfect' health but...yeah...lucky in alot of respects.....

..does the 10 (fifteen) pounds stay off no matter what I eat????? .....a VERY important consideration before I commit to the poo pheast

See, that's what I'm saying! "guaranteed perfect health." Perfect health means perfect body-fat percentage, guaranteed, for life!

Am I right, Em???

      It might be understandable to say "friends or family weeded me or you out of their lives". Some people are fearful of getting out of their comfortable known lives and having to make changes to accommodate another.   If they are too uncomfortable to walk a mile with me, I shake the dust off my feet and journey on.  They're just not ready to learn that lesson.  But you confidently keep going on your journey.  They can catch up later.

      You might also be sensitive to other things while you are healing. Dairy, for example. It won't harm you from a celiac standpoint but is inflammatory and could be bothering you. Have you been keeping a food & symptom journal? Might be worth it for a week to see if you notice something you are eating prior to the times you feel your worst. I hope you start feeling better soon.

      Someone recently recommended Superfoods for looking up recipes free of allergens or intolerances.  It's a web site but there's also an app.
    • lmemsm
      Open Food Facts is a free food database: https://world.openfoodfacts.org/discover  There's an app to access it which is also free (with no in app commercials).   You can use it to look up information about foods such as ingredients, Nova score (to help avoid ultra processed foods), environmental impact and nutritional scores, allergy related information and more.  It can scan a product's barcodes and bring up relevant information about that product.  The project relies on volunteers to share information about products.  We can add information on our favorite gluten free products to share with each other.  It has several gluten free items in the database already:  https://world.openfoodfacts.org/cgi/search.pl?search_terms=gluten+free&search_simple=1&action=process  I think it could make a great tool for people with celiac.

      You could try white willow bark, but make sure it's in a safe dosage range.  Herbs aren't regulated the way prescriptions are.  White willow bark works a lot like aspirin but is often milder on the stomach.  I used to use Nature's Way white willow bark.  I was told it was corn free at that time.  Double check with the manufacturer to make sure it's free of any of any allergens you're concerned with.
