What part of the country are you from, Laura? Do I already know this? I don't remember if I do . . . it's been a long day. No sillies (or yetis) have yet to show up and help me spread all this freakin' mulch. Have had to do it all meself <_< so far.

Yes, this is another conundrum.....even if I could manage transportation, if I don't get a summer job, I'll be even more broke than I am now :( ...if I DO get a job, I'll probably have to work :angry:

I won't promise anything at this point....too many variables.

Good Morning, Sillies!!

Bah...just looked outside and saw Gus and Elsie playing in the grass. Elsie had a microchip put in yesterday, and the vet said, "NO activity for 24 hours - - the chip can slide down the side of her body, or even pop out." Well, you should see these dogs...tearing around, jumping on each other, Gus's huge paw landing right on the chip area and pulling....

Guess I may be making a trip back to the vet's to ensure it's still in there.

Too bad I cannot multitask, and have the vet do the long proceedure on my dad that I am taking him to the hospital for this afternoon. I don't even know what's involved, but they have all the same testing equipment at the vet's. .. same heart monitors, ultrasounds, stress equipment, scanners. .. Just dunno if there's a big enough holding crate for him. :lol:<_<

Good Morning all,

SO much catching up to do when you miss a day....guess I'll have to try not to do that anymore.

The idea of a get together sounds AWESOME. Wife and I LOVE to travel, so it could be a good road trip.

Today is gardening day before i head in to tell those silly pilots where to go. We bought some roses and a new lilac tree yesterday, and now we have to plant them...then I think the wife wants to get some herbs for her window baskets....should be a good time! I'm so clumsy I'll be lucky to have all my parts when I'm done :)

I made a BIG mistake today, I thought I'd walk the 3 mile (there and back) to my local shopping centRe......man, my feet are ON FIRE (damn those flip-flops)

Going to go and soak my poor tootsies before they spontaniously combust :o (hate it when that happens)

Ryan!! Fantastic! Philly must be southeast for you....how long a drive is it for you? Moose Jaw is quite north, is it not? It'll be about an 11 hour jaunt for us...

If you go back about 150 pages, there is talk about very handy....um...protective. .. slings.. . that could be tied on at such times. <_<:lol:

What they call Fire Season hasn't started yet. The brush dries out & gets brown mid-summer.

Good thing the heat is long gone.

We had 2 days close to 100 a week ago, but now it's the normal low 70s. That pleases the firefighters. (Me too :) )

We had a potluck. Everyone made something gluten free, except the girl whom I expected to actually work while she's at work. She made bread pudding...

Well....haven't heard back since my interview, yet. :unsure: She said I would get a call in 2-3 days. This is day 3. I'll bet they save the rejections for last. It's going to really suck if I don't get any work this summer :(

Usually absolute rejections are first. Your more likely in the "possible" pile. Just hard to know where in that pile you are...

I took my dad to his proceedure this afternoon, and during the car ride I told him about my superb idea of taking both him and Elsie to the vet's, as he could likely get the tests done there in as timely a manner, and I'd only be hitting one place. He thought that this would be a very novel approach to health care. "But", he said, "let's take it a step further, and REALLY multi-task. While you got Elsie's microchip, they could have shot one into my neck as well, and into those of any other senior headed for dementia. I don't know who I am, I go wandering the streets one night - - that chip will tell my tale".

What an interesting postulation. :rolleyes::lol:

      Biopsy results - second opinion?

      Because of your anemia, you may not be making sufficient antibodies. I hope they did a total IgA as well as the tTg IgA, and DGP IgG. I hope you will share the results with us. If your body isn't making a large amount of antibodies, then the intestinal damage would be less as well. The antibodies attacking our own cells is what causes the damage...

I have been on a gluten - containing diet and ramped up my intake in the couple of weeks leading up to the endoscopy, so I’m hopeful that the biopsy is painting an accurate picture. I don’t quite understand what else might be causing the lymphocytosis and the inflammatory cells/ clusters of pla...

      Welcome to the forum, @ellyelly! How much gluten were you eating in the weeks prior to the endoscopy? Many people with indeterminate results had cut down or eliminated gluten from their diet beforehand. This can lower the autoimmune response and decrease the symptoms (lower antibody levels, reduced inflammation and intestinal damage may heal). ...

Anemia, diabetes, and thiamine deficiency can cause false negatives on antibody tests.  Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies besides the ferritin?  Several vitamins and minerals are needed to correct iron deficiency.  Have you been taking any vitamin supplements? Positive on the genes, I see.  Increases the likelihood...  Good job on ramping up on gluten for the test!

Perhaps this is common and nothing to be concerned about?!   In case relevant, my mother sister are both celiac, and I have the genes: HLA-DQA1*05:01 = Heterozygous HLA-DQB1*02:01 = Heterozygous Thanks again!

      Welcome to the forum, @ellyelly! How much gluten were you eating in the weeks prior to the endoscopy?  Many people with indeterminate results had cut down or eliminated gluten from their diet beforehand.  This can lower the autoimmune response and decrease the symptoms (lower antibody levels,  reduced inflammation and intestinal damage may heal).   If you weren't eating a sufficient amount of gluten per day in a minimum of two weeks prior to the endoscopy, you may want to do another gluten challenge with repeat endoscopy. Thank you all for sharing your wisdom.  I (37yo female) have recently had an endoscopy to screen for celiac given a strong family history and extremely low Ferritin for the past 7 years (not responsive to oral supplements). I am awaiting celiac blood panel results (completed post-endoscopy to provide another piece of the puzzle, I think was just an accidental oversight not doing earlier).  The endoscopy results are as follows: Gastroscopy:  Stomach: Mild gastritis and one 4mm benign appearing inflammatory polyp in the body.  Duodenum: Largely normal but few shallow erosions seen in the duodenal bulb. Microscopy:  1. Sections show specialised and non-specialised gastric mucosa with increased numbers of chronic inflammatory cells within the lamina propria including occasional clusters of plasma cells amounting to mild chronic inflammation. No active inflammation, intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia or malignancy is seen. Immunostains for Helicobacter organisms are negative. 2. Sections show small bowel mucosa with normal villous architecture. A mild non-specific intra-epithelial lymphocytosis is noted at the villous tips of uncertain clinical significance. The lamina propria contains a normal population of chronic inflammatory cells. No granulomas or parasites are seen. There is no dysplasia or malignancy. Conclusion 1. Gastric: Mild chronic inflammation 2. Duodemum: Mild non-specific intraepithelial lymphocytosis with preserved villous architecture.  The GI specialist, assuming blood tests come back normal, feels it is unlikely that it is celiac given the normal villous architecture. Suggested continuing on as usual and monitoring for symptoms etc, screening with blood test if required in the future.  Worth a second opinion or does this seem accurate? Anything else I should be considering? I feel a little lost as to how to best proceed! Thanks again.
