Aw Em, the blood sugar spikage sounds lousy, too :( It's interesting that you don't get the bad GI stuff--but I'm glad you don't :) It must be so hard to juggle the gluten-free and diabetic diets--Gawd and the injections.....you've got your hands full too, Missy ;)

Yes! I think an edict is in order for us all! We need our systems to quiet the hell down--that's not too big a request, is it?:lol:

Ok, so early this morning I put a chuck roast in the crock pot thinking I won't have to heat up the oven (and the kitchen) later.

I went about my business and evidently forgot all about it because after I took a shower just now, I thought--what smells so good? One of the neighbors must be cooking outside

Then it hit me--it's your own dinner cooking, you idiot! :P

Where IS everybody? I'm babling here all alone

Just for the record, that topic is infinitely more interesting than the thesis I actually wrote. Where were you all when I had to write the darned thing?!!!!

Oh, tell me, tell me! What did you write about, Laura?

What a terrific pic of you, by the way! :)

Ptaoughmnhmn! You and Susie can tighten things up togethah! :)

Well, mine's a lot easier methinks - not a lifestyle change. I'm still way too scared of gluten to take any chances there.

This has been happening wayyyyyyy too much lately - and I know why. It's because I'm in a relationship, and want to be more normal, impose less inconvenience. :(

Somehow I feel like I know what this is like, but I really can't figure out why I'd think that.

Maybe it's just that I've imagined it, wanted it, wondered what a pain it'll be when dating.

Right now I just have to go back to foregoing a few things which seem "tolerable" on occasion, but which are most likely detrimental even in small, once-a-week doses.

Boy did I ever want popcorn to be ok. Kinda fun making it the old-fashioned way, on the stovetop but w/ a glass lid. Quite fireworky.

Oh, tell me, tell me! What did you write about, Laura?

What a terrific pic of you, by the way! :)

Yeah, I was gonna say both of these things.

Thesis related to Education I think?

And now, in a true test of self-alleged summoning powers . ..

Ohgawd... ....Jess, what were you left? A bird's head? Mouse intestines?

Last week Elsie came inside from the backyard holding onto something of fair size... ..Will pulled it out of her mouth (I was NOT there, thankfully) and found himself holding the bottom half of a good-sized bird - -legs and lower trunk. EEEEWWWW.....obviously left by one of our cats, and Elsie thought it was quite wondrous....... .. ..

The non-edible bits of a bird were left on my bedroom floor (fortunately). Second time in a week. This is the most vacuumed my floor has ever been.

I'm in the same boat--still am not normal since the date/creamer incidents a couple weeks ago. Susie, my anxiety always takes a lot longer than the intestinal stuff.....hopefully the Welbutrin will give your anxiety a gentle shove and get you back on an even keel.

Patti - that was heinous, yer dates and creamer incident. :(

Well, pholks, today's Thursday, and it's been a very pure week for me, diet-wise. I awoke today feeling clear-headed, better, far less anxious. Alas, before I start thinking I'm all better.....cautiously taking a wait-and-see approach.

Also - it IS Thursday.......nearing the weekend which is when I always start feeling better - less pressure for job search etc.

You bet, and I can tell you how I've been Phluidally Aphected: With two dogs now that play constantly, shoving each each other around and play-biting, they become COVERED in saliva and slobber - - let's call the stuff slobbva.... . I'm assuming that once the rollover phluid deluge eases up, the dogs will learn to play with mouths closed.....bah!... .. ..

Souczie!!!!!!You're back!!! :D:D:D

So happy you're doing a bit better!

Chuck roast--a delicious piece of meat but heinously tough unless prepared correctly. I either cook it covered in a slow oven (325-350) for about 3-3 1/2 hours surrounded by cut-up potatoes, carrots and onions--or in the crock pot on low for 10 hours. In the crock pot, of course you put the veggies on the bottom and the meat on top. Season as you like it. Make sure to slice against the grain of the meat.

Either way, you end up with lucious juice that you can either use as is or make into gravy.

My house smells really good right now :)

Schoooolll's out....for....summer!!!....Sing it with me, now!!! More fluids...lot's of 8th graders gonna miss us........imagine that  ....lot's of hugs and tears. Lunch was a success. We ate at Texas Roadhouse. Everyone was served the same thing....chicken, baked potato, and green beans. I talked to the manager and got my chicken sans seasoning and cooked on foil....microwaved sweet potato and mixed veggies.....so far so good :D <<crossingfingers>>> My friend is vegetarian, so she also got a special plate.

Since we're talking about Edna's, I'd like to add that since April, I have lost 11 pounds...Sticking to mostly meat and veggies. Fibro is improving somewhat.....haven't tried Sven in a long time......except for my dancing. I know Sven is supposed to make you feel invigorated, but it does the opposite for me.

Oy .. . . careful what you wish for. Phx has been mostly 100+F for weeks and will surely be over 112 for FAR longer than what seems humanly habitable.

I will NOT miss opening my door at 10 or 11pm and feeling like I've opened a pizza oven.

Daytime outdoor breathing could feel like my lungs were burning.

Gentle Lessons of Life & Very Wise Words

When I'm feeling down, I like to whistle. It makes the neighbor's dog

run to the end of his chain and gag himself.

A penny saved is obviously the result of a government oversight.

************ *

The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at

the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting

moment.

**********

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then

your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.

**********

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a

new replacement for it.

**********

He who hesitates is probably doing the right thing.

**********

Did you ever notice: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are ' XL.'

**********

If you think there is some good in everybody, you obviously haven't

met 'everybody'.

**********

If you can smile when things go wrong, you must have someone else in

mind to blame.

The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so that he can tell when

he's 'really' in trouble.

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for

it. For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles

don't hurt.

Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about

your age and start bragging about it.

The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

I am celiac with corn and tree nut allergies.  I am finding it difficult to find OTC pain reliever that are safe for me.  Any suggestions?  I also do not tolerate any artificial sweeteners including stevia and agave.   Thanks!

There are other possible causes or damaged small bowel villi besides celiac disease. Google this: Not All That Flattens Villi Is Celiac Disease: A Review of Enteropathies There is also something known as seronegative celiac disease: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4586545/

Quaker corn grits are not certified gluten-free! These may, in fact, be contaminated by cross-contact in the manufacturing process. I have been following a strict gluten-free diet for about 3 years, with varying results depending on cross-contact issues. My celiac testing was inconclusive - and I wasn't willing to go back on gluten long enough for a full celiac diagnosis. I get pretty severe symptoms just a few hours after ANY gluten ingestion, no matter how small, so gastrointestinal doc recommends continuing to follow a gluten-free diet. So whether I have celiac disease (I do have one celiac gene) or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, treatment is the same. I have enjoyed corn grits on occasion, but started seeing a pattern of gluten intake symptoms after large family breakfasts. This last time, I researched everything I might have ingested. My family is pretty good about cross-contact, too. When I got to the Quaker corn grits, I found they are not certified gluten-free, and the labeling does not say gluten free anywhere - although the only ingredients are corn grits, salt and some vitamins and minerals. The research I did confirms that while Quaker grits do not "contain" gluten ingredients, they may indeed be contaminated by cross-contact with glutens. I threw out all the grits (and corn meal) I had in the pantry, and bought some certified as gluten-free. Hopefully, next family breakfast will be better! 😋
