Have never seen a snake at this house . . . I think one of us would have seen one by now if that was our problem (and this would also have filled my children's hearts with glee). I have heard that if a frog finds your pond, he will stay. If you bring one to your pond, he will eventually leave. Problem is, frogs just don't "happen" by our little pond . . . perhaps I should put out signs.

 Or add a little fountain or waterfall. The sound of running water helps attract them, too.

Or how about the homeopathic approach - - like attracts like? You need to put out little frog decoys, perhaps a cute little female frog, to attact a couple of males. You could have a hidden speaker out there, playing a loop of croaking frog-chatter.... .... ...

Hey, it'd work for me.... . ..

Perhaps we need to adopt this approach with our lost yeti. One huge yeti effigy, sitting on my doorstep.... ...

My knee has been bothering me so much that it has been keeping me from doing some of the things that I like to do and forget about spending any time with Sven, just too painful!!

Phorget physical therapy. Just get some good drugs, gia-gnet  But anywho, good that yer finally getting this done.......you'll be back to Sven in no time. :)

Jeez, if only I could somehow nonchalantly get Llamalady to divulge her inseam measurement.....I'd know in a second if she's our yeti!

*snooooooooooort*

Excellent. Where is LL? no sighting today...........methinks this confirms, 'tis our angry, abandoned yeti.......just toying with us.........

Does anyone else suspect that our lost, neglected, embittered yeti just might be behind the disappearance of these Silly frogs?

  Well I do

Problem is, frogs just don't "happen" by our little pond . . . perhaps I should put out signs.

Or, put a couple o' dingos in yer yard. Go figure, w/ two dogs in the back, tons and tons of phrogs here. Three years ago, when we moved in, they were just miniscule - so cute - about 3/4 inch each. Got bigger and bigger - and fewer and fewer (uglier too) - as each season passed. And now, three years later, we have tons of cute li'l Lilliputian frogs again.......... Weezee loves 'em, but doesn't eat them. Poor Old Stink loved her a good froggie............ she'd have been enjoying herself quite a bit this year. :)

And BTW Stinker's nanny saw the dingo video.........said it looked exactly. like. our. Stinker..........

and...........passing out whilst urinating? wee wee syncope? OMG - - I used to pass out a lot but - 'twas because my BP was like - - 80 over 45  and I still feel this way, regularly.......

OMG

'tis so bloody hot

and humid

103 degrees but - humidity today - - - am sweating like a phart in a phry pan

Could it be that you are on outline mode? Find the options box at the top of this thread on the right and choose linear.

On a similar note.....I once knew a woman who would cry when she went poop...some sort of uncontrollable physical response. I wonder if there's medical term for that.

To solve the mystery of the disappearing phrogs, I think I will pose this question to my wildlife biologist son the next time we speak.

So...how invasive is this knee surgery?

Sooo...what is the difference between standard and linear? Is there any? Or are they just trying to confuse us?

Ooohhhhh.....I see....linear has that annoying first post on every page of a thread.....standard does away with that.......Thank gawd....now maybe I can get the Oscar Mayer song out of my head  ........my bologna has a first name.........

Yes, it's been quite delightful. Pennsylvania usually gets our weather 1 day later. My DS lived in Pittsburgh until just recently. We're supposed to keep this weather for the rest of the week! :D

Products can be both gluten-free AND made in a facility that produces wheat products. Why are you assuming that this product isn't gluten-free?
    • Scott Adams
No, small amounts of cross-contamination won't instantly cause villi damage. In fact the protocol for getting an endoscopy for celiac disease requires people to eat at least 2 slices of wheat bread per day for 2 weeks before the procedure, otherwise any damage done might not be detected. Small amounts of gluten on a daily basis, however, may lead to severe damage over time, as it would have a cumulative effect. Some celiacs, and people with DH, have intense symptoms with even a single exposure with a trace amount of gluten, while others have little or no reaction to a lot of contamination (although their health risks from prolonged exposure are the same).

It sounds like you're navigating a challenging and frustrating situation, and it's understandable why you'd seek clarity. Based on what you’ve described, it’s possible to have gluten sensitivity without the hallmark villous atrophy seen in celiac disease. This condition is often referred to as non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). Unlike celiac disease, NCGS does not cause the autoimmune damage to the small intestine that’s detectable through a biopsy, and it won’t show up on standard celiac blood tests. However, symptoms like gastrointestinal distress, changes in stool, and even mood issues, such as anxiety or feeling down, have been reported by others with gluten sensitivity. Your experience with mucus in your stool, stool consistency changes, and mood correlation with gluten intake could be indicative of NCGS. The low levels of zinc and folic acid you mentioned might also hint at some malabsorption issues, even if the root cause isn't celiac disease. It’s worth noting that other conditions, like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or a sensitivity to FODMAPs (a group of fermentable sugars in many foods, including wheat), can sometimes mimic gluten sensitivity. Since your symptoms seem to improve when you avoid gluten, it may be worth continuing a gluten-free diet to see if it helps you feel better overall. You might also consider working with a dietitian who specializes in gastrointestinal health to rule out other potential triggers and ensure your diet is balanced. If you’re still struggling to get answers from your doctor, seeking a second opinion from a gastroenterologist might also help you move forward. You're not alone in this, and I hope you can find some relief and clarity soon!

Gluten-free oats can cause villous atrophy in people with celiac disease who are sensitive to oats (~10% of celiacs). While oats are naturally gluten-free and often safe for most individuals with celiac disease, a small percentage of people with the condition are sensitive to avenin, a protein found in oats that is structurally similar to gluten. For these individuals, consuming oats—whether labeled gluten-free or not—can trigger an immune response, leading to intestinal damage, including villous atrophy.
