Ezra walked slowly up to me, and laid one hand gently on my arm. Wide eyes, awe in his voice. "Mom... you have... SUPER Vision?"

:D and your answer was...?

:D Jess...I hope her answer was "Of course I do". I used to say I had eyes in the back of my head :P

Sarah--I read your response to that woman (I was posting after you) and you gave really good, heartfelt advice :) I hope that your withdrawl symptoms don't last long.

:D Ezra :D

I was walking around in my room in my bra and a pair of jeans. Jack came in and asked me, "Why do they call the crack between a lady's boobs Jesus, anyways?"

I decided to quote myself here, as I just had a BIG lightbulb moment in my li'l mind.....

Perhaps Jack thought that a woman's cleavage is called "Jesus" because on one (or several) occasions he's been out with his dad and upon passing a buxom woman with lots of boob showing, DH has stared and muttered, "jeeeeee-sussss.....".......

We really make out when we are driving somewhere since then John is totally free, here I had to pay for his airline ticket.

HUH??! Amanda, you guys must stop that! NO making out while driving! Gad, I hope we're not on the freeway at the same time as you guys when we're down there!!.......

:o:lol:

Now you're learning! He's going to want some wrangling tonight after those frisky PM's!

   I don't think he knew what got into me, but wasn't going to question it! ;)

He's made it into the gold medal game this Saturday!!! :):):)

Fantastic! Go, Jack!

This put visions in my head of utilizing socket wrenches, crowbars and such!

:o OW.

new av.........it's me wif my bottle of St. George absinthe......SOOOOOOOOOOO yummy........ but look closely, on my right hand, middle finger, you can see my BLACKENED fingernail, from the huge windstorm that blew the front door shut and smashed it. I"ll have a black nail for the rest of my life, BTW, unless it falls off soon ('tis threatening to do that)..................

I LOVE your new av, Susie! Is your hair shorter, or am I imagining things? Owie, on your poor finger. :( If the nails falls out, will a new one grow back?

Morning Sillies...today is the big FL day!!!!

Yay, you must be so excited! Wave to me when you fly over, ok?? (A random wave toward the Blue Ridge Mountains should hit me.) :D

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Ezra is a crackup. Sarah.......I"ve got some extra effexor......wondering if I could send you some in this heat? Would it bake the meds? PM me...........I do know what the crazy withdrawals are like.

tyepoes are phunny. Esp. Bev's

a good morning to all sillies!

Amanda - seriously - have a couple glasses of wine - you'll be just fine. I LURVE getting onto a plane, curling up with a good book..............miss the long flights. :( Bon Voyage!

I'm not even bothering wif quotes as am rushed for time - looks like we ARE going to Carmel today. :) I am sooooooo excited - - our air quality is highly toxic and dangerous now - "stagnant air alerts" and such - all the fires, smog, etc. Just a blanket of poison hanging over us......people are strongly warned about doing any physical activity outside (and I am about to walk the girls  )...... Oh, we're babysitting cousin Mojo. :)

Kissey is up north (around Antioch, that is for Ptaum's edification) and says the smoke and haze is even WORSE than here...... at last count there were around 800 phyres in California. :o

So - I"ll probably have no internet access, Psillies, and no kissey for the next three days.....OMG! How will I handle this?

That Lion video..........  :) OMG - is there anything more touching?

must begin packing now............

more later, sillies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hair............ Doesn't grow as long as it used to.......dag nabbit. Hair is about shoulder length, I'd say. Lots of gray showing. Must try and dye roots before leaving today.......although who cares? Gail and I spend most of our time in sweats, makeup-less, hanging about the cozy beach hovel. We have gone to Safeway in our pajama-esque loungewear.......no one bats an eye. Quite a few curmudgeons in there (down from the hills of Big Sur looking for meat and women  ) as well as the most posh and wealthy.......and even celebrities (Jennifer Aniston sighting at midnight there once).

Um, good question Sayr-uh..............will my nail grow back? it is SOOOOOOOO unsightly........

Enjoy your weekend, Soozle :D

she said SOOZLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   that's one of me favorites  thanks, Paddeigh......

if I have time today, I'll tell you guys what I put on my resume header on monster.com........ Okay well wait - - I'll just tell you now. I need your opinions............I am sooooooooooooooooo sick of the job hunt that I almost don't care any more.........so here's what I did:

My resume is on Monster, and I wanted my name/identity to be hidden. So, I simply wrote at the top

JOB SEEKER

Clovis, California

Okay.....so I left it like that for a couple of dyas.......and then I added this:

fabulous

JOB SEEKER

Clovis, California

:o:blink::huh::lol: :lol:

so........should I leave it, or remove it? Other than that, the whole resume is quite serious and typical......

I laughed at first, and almost told the truth, but stopped myself. "Well... Yes. Yes, I kind of do have Super Vision."

Whew on the post. I was worried I might've sounded like I felt. That wouldn't have been cool.

HUH??! Amanda, you guys must stop that! NO making out while driving! Gad, I hope we're not on the freeway at the same time as you guys when we're down there!!.......

 OMG - are you quite sure? It's sooooooo unprofessional........but.........among the thousands of job seekers, it'll get their attention, and they'll either hate it or love it............... :D

Oh mah gah, Susie, I LOVE you for offering that!!! But I think I'll be ok. The nausea/nerve shocks/dizziness are utterly heinous, but the Phenergan helps with that, and I also have plenty of Vistaril, which should help the emotional issues. But I haven't decided what I want to do after this... I don't feel comfortable being antidepressant-less right now... anyway, when you get back in town, I will send you a PM, I want your thoughts. That sounded funny, you know what I mean. :D

Okay...basics it is! Yeah, A/C most of the time but they over-cool the casinos so that when you step outside into the JULY heat it's like stepping into a furnace, lol. It only takes a couple of minutes out there to start sweating. :sweatyfacedemoticongoeshere:

Sarah! Have you ever extricated yourself from Effexor before this? Funny, my girlfriend started going off this antidepressant this spring - - she was on a medium-high dosage, cannot remember the mg amount. It took two months of weaning, and I was seeing her regularly, helping out however I could. She was very emotional and fatigued guring the first and second weeks, but by the third week it was considerably better. By the fourth she was just a bit tired, but practically normal. The fifth week found her back to herself.

She also lost about eight pounds in those few weeks........that made her quite happy! :)

Each day, things will get easier!

Where's PeOter? And Gian-knit?

Well, I can only speak phor myselph. I'm here, just not saying much.

I phollowed yesterday's discussion, but didn't want to make a boob of myselph by posting in an area where my liphe experience is not nearly as large and rounded as that of the ladies here.

Amanda, have a wonderful trip, but please don't be making out while driving!

Psoozee, I think the "Phabulous Job Seeker" sounds, well, phabulous!

No, I've been taking it for about 5 years now. Effexor is a difficult one to get off of. :( I'm having to do it because they aren't bringing my doc sample packets anymore, and it's wretchedly expensive. I'm going to have to find something else. But for now, all I could do was use the last of the pills I had to wean down. I was on 150 mg daily. I had some 75 mg pills, and some 37.5.

I used them to taper down as best I could, but only had enough for two weeks, instead of the months you should take tapering off Effexor. Not fun. Took my last one the day before yesterday. She (my doc) did put me on a month of Prozac to try to combat some of the withdrawal symptoms, also.

Then of course, I also started that blood pressure med at the same time. That one finally seems to be kicking in, helping with my edema, and I'm peeing a lot. I think Patti's right, and it works better when you're good about the low-salt Edna. <_< Between the nausea and all my food tasting BLAND, I sure ought to drop a few pounds!

Dude... I just had a little bit of a rant in the "My kids are going to kill each other" thread. A couple people seemed like they were blaming bad behavior on TV. I couldn't stand for that. I hate it when people blame everything on TV, I think it's bull.

@Rogol72, dermatitis herpetiformis occurs in a minority of celiac patients and if the OP hasn't developed it yet I doubt it will show up in the future. I think it unwise to use a scare tactic that probably won't materialize in the OP's experience. It has a good chance of backfiring and having the opposite effect.
    • Rogol72
Hi @trents, You're correct. The OP mentioned fatigue and vitamin deficiencies as the only symptoms at the time of diagnosis. Since the family are not taking him/her seriously and find them to be too fussy, I suggested showing them pictures of dermatitis herpetiformis as one of the consequences of not taking the gluten-free diet seriously ... would make life easier for him/her, and the family might begin to take his/her strict gluten-free diet more seriously. A picture says a thousand words and the shock factor of dermatitis herpetiformis blisters might have the desired effect. The OP did say ... "How do you deal with people close to you who just refuse to understand? Are there any resources anyone could recommend for families that are short and easy to read?".  @sillyyak52, It might also help mentioning to your family that Coeliac Disease is genetic and runs in families. Any one of them could develop it in the future if they have the HLA DQ 2.5 gene. Here's a Mayo Clinic study calling for screening of family members of Coeliacs ... https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-minute-celiac-disease-screening-for-family-members/ https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-study-calls-for-screening-of-family-members-of-celiac-disease-patients/ I got glutened a few months ago because I missed the may contains statement on a tub of red pesto. It was my own fault but it happens.
