I shall compose in maple leaf red for the duration of this special day.

We will be heading for the madness on Parliament Hill this afternoon, where a million people congregate, watch the mounties do their endless manouvers, listen to great music, some patriotic speeches (gad, nothing like when Joe showed up here about ten years ago and screamed off his I AM CANADIAN rant to thunderous, deafening cheers...).. ....Typical patriotic stuff from such a small, young, self-conscious population that makes up my Country.

I`ve already done my patriotic, symbolic hat-tipping to Canada - - this early morning, in full insulin reaction mode, instead of reaching for the corn syrup on my bed table I stumbled into the kitchen and managed to find the MAPLE syrup to pour down my throat.

Well done on the patriotic treatment and quick thinking while in that state -- I usually just sit down and cry! I'm also a hypoglycemic puker, so it may not have been such a beautifully patriotic moment for me!

That's exciting that you're going down to Parliament!!! Perfect way to spend Canada Day -- I'm actually kind of jealous. What could be more patriotic! I've only been to Parliament once and went on a tour. We were late for the tour and so they ran us up those back stairs that you see the PM come down on TV in order to catch up with the tour. We were dorkily excited. Will Steven be there today? Throw some rotten tomatoes at his head for me!(oops I'm getting too political for Sillyville) Just have a good time!

I hadn't really known about it until yesterday when I saw the tragic news. They were doing such a great thing. To keep himself so healthy and active and then die like this is just terribly unfair. I can hardly even think about it without feeling sick. Seeing your parent dead is a hell no kid should have to go through but witnessing a traumatic death is beyond what I can imagine. I hope the two kids are getting their psychological needs attended to. I feel for the driver of the car as well. I don't really know what the circumstances were but it sounds like a terrible accident that will surely haunt him the rest of his life. :( We need some good news in Sillyville. I'm glad my dad's coming over today; I'm going to hug him a little tighter.

Ok, I am more awake now Sillies. The plane was delayed yesterday due to storms in FL which were pretty intense again. We arrived at BWI @ 10:30 and we got to our house about 12. So by the time I got to bed it was 1. With the constant running I did in FL man did it all catch up. I didnt sleep well in FL at all and we had this very nice king bed.

Sunday we did some shopping. My nurse came in that day and we did the hotel pool that night and it was a ball. Uneventful meeting and then the journey home.

Hi sillies. I'm pretty down, I guess, but it's not as much about what happened 12 yrs ago as knowing what David's going through (heck we've all been through something similar) - and how much he means to our silly Pseuzee. Is it too weird that I feel like I know him when it's only through Susie's words?

Some moments may be flashback grief tho. Sometimes there are some sort of weirda$$ chills of despair and/or nausea.

That is so true about knowing David through Susie's words. He's a part of the Silly family, and those of us that know what this feels like losing someone so unexpected in an instant (I lost a beloved relative in a horrible car crash) my heart just breaks knowing what he is going through.

Thank you to everyone who has spoken to our loss of Thomas. He had been a member of our family for just over ten years.

Peter, I completely relate. I lost my dog a few years back and was devestated. They are part of the family the loss is great. It took a long time to get used to the house being quieter.

Same afore mentioned son has a field identification guide to poop. He once had a science club T-shirt in HS with his nickname on the back..............Guano(sp?).....means bat poop. Also used to have his my space picture as that of some sort of scat or other. He's quite the nature nerd !

.............How many ways ARE there to say poop, anyway?

Lisa, yer son would fit in nicely here, where nothing seems to be off limits when it comes to all things poop.

I have a little good news to share.

I think spending sometime with Ryan's big, happy, fun-loving family is almost therapeutic for Colin. And they all adore him as well. It was definitely a great night!

Oh Canada.......... I do think you may be the best part of North America (sshhhhh....don't tell anyone I said that!)

I am sorry I got to the "wake" here in Sillyville so late. I kind of feel like we are all in mourning. Tom- I would imagine it's really painful to think about what happened since you've been there. I cried (I couldn't come on last night- blubbery mess, no silly in me at all) last night thinking about those kids. And you're right, I do feel kind of like we "know" them. My heart breaks. I know that it must be hard for you so all I can say is (((((HUGS)))))

And Pieter- you lost Thomas- a family member. I still miss my Popcorn and she's been gone for 15 years. ((((((((HUGS))))))))

And Julie, and Sarah. Sigh.

I'm sure I'm missing something but you all know I :wub: you all.

OK- can I share some good news?

Kurt is on "sabbatical" for a month (the month he was supposed to take off right after he had the stroke uhm....2 summers ago). No- that's not the good news as I'm sure he will drive me crazy as much as I love him. I completely forgot that this past weekend we had tickets to see Lyle Lovett at the Cape Cod Melody tent. Actually, I wasn't even convinced I wanted to go but I MADE myself get in the car and it was GOOD.

Lyle was fun (and actually handsome in person- I have eclectic taste but I swear)! Good, gluten-free food was had. We stayed at a place on the side of the Cape that I think Alex thinks of when she pictures it and it was fun. I had FUN! We even went to a lavender farm (i now have milk and dark lavender chocolate and a mix for lavender lemonade. I could swim! And we went to the one place down there that makes gluten-free pizza (IMHO it's even better than Risoterria's in NY).

Alex- I couldn't help but think of you!!!!!!!!

I have been off abx and sans PICC line for 11 days. I think I'm starting to feel a bit more human.

Well, thank GOD, I'm feeling a mite better today, because yesterday was HELL on earth. Won't go into details, because I really want to pretend yesterday never happened. But Mom came over and took charge of the kids, which was a relief, and frankly necessary.
