Don't reckon I could GET me leg above me shoulder....must try sometime

Hee--I just came in from re-potting some plants, reworking the window boxes and generally sprucing up the porches. Can't stand working outside whilst it's humid, so lots of things needed doing.

Worked up a sweat, though--must shower.....be back later

It's easier in the tub....

wish I'd gotten something accomplished but got hooked on google ASL sites.

Good Sunday morning, all!

back AT CHA!

Mom and Dad are coming over for dinner

Flugtag Competition:

a lot of 'em scurry away after reading a page or two..... .

not me i think it might just take me a bit of time to get used to who said what due to all the quoteing. and knicknames ...

so i guess for johnsmom to be shorter i'll go by jo. funny 'cause my mom's nickname was bettyjo. anyhow to whoever wrote good you can have your folks over ...i say ditto that my mom has passed on and i'd give my left arm to have her back over for dinner just once...

i try to just check in here once a day holla back folks and tell me are you guys in here all day? do you check hour by hour? is it the winter weather keeping you indoors??? what oh yeaha it is july i MeAN aug. the height of SUMMer... catch my drift ??? or are we all so " what i like to call on a short leash with the toilet and the jump up and run away gas... "

is it just me or anybody out there also got the runaway gas thing go'in on? some days i laugh cause who wants to cry over it ( sort of like crying over spilt milk) ha ha ha ...crying over spilt gas.... ha ha ...any how you got the ole picture of linus from peanuts in your mind and his friend was pigpen? well some days this gas cloud i am living in , if it was visable ,, i'd be hard pressed to see to drive... and i saw on mith busters A person tested it === you can NOT gas yourself to death. it is true a guy camping in a small tent who said even if i ate a pork -n-beans and cabbage dinner and went to sleep for like 10 hours? He said he nearly gassed himown self to death so mith busters checked it out and said NO_ WAY!

i was so relieved that i had tuned it that day.... now thats one less thing for me to worry about... sillie willies but if a group of us lets say gig ( gluten intolerant girls ) all went camping and we all ate that almond rice bread any body ever try that? whoooa a a a you could kill at least one of us from how much gas is created by it...

hay anybody up for this lets all list off major gas offen dors AKA ( gassers ) .. like now for me it costs 73 $ to fill my tank with real gas at the pump . but .... if we could run a car on the phart kinda gas what would we feed our silly cows to produce enough for a trip from ca. to ga. ? it's like the whole i'm going on a trip game....

and to whoever said 66 for the outside temp. i think it was patti in pa. you would hate me i'm in hawaii and we just had a few 85 and 90 days in a row just beautifull. so sunny and just the perfet gentle breeze and blue sky w/ pillowy clowds

and to the one ellie i think who said flugtag? what? is that like annother word for flag football?

and judy i think in media pa. what is____ mld ____ MLD ? is that something from pages back that i missed or short for something like in the movie american pie 2 where the mom thinks shes walked in on the son like playing with himself so she lists offf all sort of nicknames for it like happy me time... did you see that ? i t was SUCH a funny seane ......or was it something short for meds like mind loseing drugs ?

and somebody was leg up over the sholders like tring to heal from a surgery... that reminds me of an old joke that went around===== so what should girls put behind their ears to attract boys? their ankles...

and i hear there is a phart chart somewhere. you should have interviewed me before i went gluten free... this is just my friends way of saying about his wife (not me) ....shes got a mean tail wind ... they were all sailboating people but he was talking about the same pharts we are i think. i was off your charts for sure if there were trophies to pass out on that one like the gloden globes 20-20 would be in my drive way to interview me on how i like being nominated...

and to lisa i think contibuted the signing story i had to laugh twice at that one .. i sort of collect little stand up comedy bits.. and i have a few on the list of what pasteer did last sunday... also i'll add this one you might enjoy...the little ole lady is in church and whispers to her hubby '" i just let off a few silent ones they're maybe gona stick up the place here in a min or 2 what shall we do ? " and he says i think YOU' d better get a new hearing aid battery!

i'll leave you gals to it then or gals and guys i should say

folks i'm out ta hae a fo now,,,,,,

but i'll check in 2 or 3 times a day for a few days and see if keeping up gets easier..

annother hay anybody question .....dose any body work ? i mean like in an office or store ? hows this affected your job life. did you quit ? do you feel like quitting...?

love and aloha, jo

Ummm....yeah that's *silly*, but it looks like she is gonna hurt her nose :o . Different regions have slight variations to the same sign.....and sometimes totally different signs. For me, *silly* is also made with the *Y* hand.......thumb and pinkie up, all other fingers down.............put hand directly in front of nose, thumb almost touching and wiggle hand slightly by twisting wrist.

Phunny how we take sumphin like a shower for granted--until we can't take one :P I was lucky--after my surgery last year, even though I had an abdominal incision, I was allowed to take a shower as soon as I got home (2 days after the operation). I couldn't wait! ;)

When I was in the hospital years ago, I asked the nurse if I could wash my hair in the sink.......Nope!..........so I waited until the changing of the guards the nurse shift changed...........and I did it anyway.............I figured if I got caught, I could claim that I didn't know!

All right. Jess, you have been Silly-Instructed NOT to scream with such ferocity (font size 8, er sumphin'), as it completely strrrrrretchesssss all of our screens, and there must be constant, exhausting scrolling back and forth. Well, Ptaoughmghmn! There is also to be no quoting of said screams......here my screen is back to, like, a kilometre wide!......I think I need some gravol......

Had a lovely dinner with my parents, and it is true....I am SO unbelievably blessed to still have them both here, both in their eighties, and both mentally sharper than anyone around....sharper than ME, fer sure.....

My dad is fading physically, however. :(:( Parkinson's. His gait is very slow, his tremors are quite bad down one side, and yet here he is....this old man, shaking and trundling along, and when he opens his mouth it brings tears to my eyes, because the room is suddenly filled with his booming broadcaster's voice, crackling with wit and energy.....such a dichotomy. It is searingly painful to see him decline quickly in the ravages of his illness, and have his sharp, cool mind raging against it all....

Sorry....I digress from all things silly....Mom and Dad just left, and it's all fresh in my heart......

Jess! Don't you dare jump in here with something meaningful and poignant! Gimme a page or two, because I actually think I could use some of your wise, beautiful words.... . .but not immediately...... :):)

I finally got up the nerve to try to update my av by myself. It worked!!!!!!!!!!!Someone once mentioned being interested in other people's artistic-type relatives. This is my dad. He is an artist............mostly paintings and sculptures. He used to play the sax.............don't know how long it's been since he last picked it up, though. He looks like a genuine Florida beach bum!!!!!!!! He used to scuba before heart surgery but still likes to snorkel....plays racquetball and sails. He was a wonderfully smooth, mellow voice ^_^

I just think that amazing people sometimes forget that they are amazing, and need reminding. If you read my other posts you'll discover that I think that 90% of the population can just sniffle themselves into a gluten filled pool of misery for all I care - but some people (highly over-represented on this thread) are far too important to me, and for them, and only them, I will willingly offer a small piece of my soul for them rest on while they are repairing their own.

and that small piece is hugely appreciated.

OMG

still 2 or 3 pages behind - just a poop-in - entertained by Jess's huge scream that re-formatted the pages

and checking on gia-knit - SHE MADE IT!! haven't read all details yet - hope yer feeling okay

I"m off again......keep running around to visit people so as not to have to be here :(

love you sillies!!!!!!!!!

The Celebrity brand Luncheon Loaf (found at dollar tree, distributed by Atalanta Corporation) is gluten free according to the distributor. I emailed their customer service line for information on the ingredients, and they contacted the vendor and followed up with me that the "starch" ingredient I was worried about is corn and potato. It should be safe.

Welcome to the forum, @jimmydee! Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder, meaning the consumption of gluten triggers a response by the immune system that causes the body to attack it's own tissue. Celiac disease has a genetic base that requires some kind of trigger for the genes to be turned on. We know that there are two primary genes responsible for providing the potential to develop celiac disease and we know that about 40% of the population carries one or both of these genes. However, only about 1% of the population actually develops celiac disease. So, that tells us that something more than just having the genes is necessary in order to develop celiac disease. Something must trigger those genes to wake up and produce the active disease. It's that "something" that we are struggling to understand and that is somewhat of a mystery. But there is a growing body of evidence pointing to the culprit being a disruption of the proper balance of microorganisms in the gut. Apparently, the microorganisms that live in our intestines produce chemicals that regulate the size of the openings in the mucous lining of our small bowel. A disruption in the healthy balance of this microorganic community causes an increase in the size of the openings in the mucous lining. This in turn allows protein fragments from the food we eat that are larger than normal to invade the mucous lining where they are detected as threats by the immune system. This is what is happening with gluten for those with celiac disease. The attack in the mucous lining of the small bowel by the immune system on these incompletely broken down gluten components causes inflammation and, over time, as we continue to consume gluten, it damages the mucosal lining of the small bowel which results in the loss of efficiency of nutrient absorption. This mucosal lining is made up of millions of tiny finger like projections that create an enormous surface area for the absorption of nutrients when healthy. The "wearing down" of these millions of finger-like projections due to celiac inflammation greatly reduces the surface area and thus the ability to absorb nutrients. This in turn typically results in numerous health issues that have a nutrient deficiency base. But the answer to the question of why there seems to be an epidemic of celiac disease in recent years may not be simple. It may have many facets. First, we don't know how much of this epidemic is real and how much is apparent. That is, how much of what we perceive of as a dramatic increase in the incidence of celiac disease is simply due to greater awareness and better detection methods? Celiac disease is not new. There is evidence from ancient writings that people suffered from it back then but they did not have a name for it. And it wasn't until WW2 that gluten was identified as the cause of celiac disease. Current thinking on what is causing imbalance in gut biology has put forth a number of causes including overuse of antibiotics and pesticides, environmental toxins, fluoridation of drinking water, preoccupation with hygiene and sanitation, and the western diet. https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/theories-on-the-growing-prevalence-of-celiac-disease-and-gluten-sensitivity-over-the-last-half-century-video-r6716/?tab=comments#comment-25345 All this to say that I doubt your UTI or the low dose aspirin had anything to do with the onset of your celiac disease. It was probably just coincidence unless the UTI was the stress trigger that activated the celiac potential genes. The onset of celiac disease an happen at any stage of life and many people report it following a period of illness. But what is interesting about your low dose aspirin theory is that aspirin is in a class of medications known as NSAIDs (Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs). Scientific studies have shown that long term use of NSAIDs can damage the villous lining of the small bowel in the same way as celiac disease.  The other thing I wish to point out is that unless you have actual testing done for celiac disease, you can't be sure if you have celiac disease or NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). They share many of the same symptoms, the difference being that NCGS doesn't damage the lining of the small bowel. There is no test for NCGS, celiac disease must first be ruled out. NCGS is 10x more common than celiac disease. The antidote for both is a gluten free diet.

BRAND NAME: NOT BURGER PLANT-BASED PATTIES  A product I came across labeled gluten-free bought it when I got home I read the back ingredients further to notice that it says gluten with a line going through it u will see in the attached pics.     The label says down below that it is processed in a facility that also processes "WHEAT".  I tried to put this on the Gov. website as false advertisement but couldn't do it.  Maybe on here at least the word can get out to others not to purchase anything gluten-free without throughly reading the whole label....It won't let me upload 2 pics.  says to contact manager.   The products name is Not Burger    INGREDIENTS: Water, Pea Protein, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Natural Flavors, Bamboo Fiber, Less than 2% of: Methylcellulose, Dried Yeast, Rice Protein, Salt, Cocoa Powder Processed with Alkali, Psyllium Husk, Potato Fiber, Red Beet Juice Powder (color), Chia Protein Concentrate, Spinach Powder.   Manufactured in a facility that also processes wheat and soy.          MANUFACTURED FOR: The NotCompany, Inc, 438    Treat Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94110.

Let me start by saying that I am self- diagnosed Celiac. I didn't want to pay for tests, because I don't have health insurance and the doctor said I would HAVE to eat gluten for the tests and I am afraid it will kill me. I diagnosed myself by quitting dairy, sugar and gluten for a couple weeks and figured out the problem by process of elimination.  ANYWAYS.......here's why I blame "Aspirin low dose safety coated" for my Celiac Disease.  I started taking regular Aspirin for a couple weeks for back pain and decided to switch to low dose safety coated Aspirin because I thought a smaller dose was safer for regular use. Well about 3 days after starting low dose safety coated aspirin, I got a terrible UTI. I didn't know what to do (should have gone to doctor) I started taking cranberry pills and read Aspirin can cause UTIs, so stopped taking that. A week later, the UTI was getting worse but then my Dad gave me some probiotic pills and the next day I felt better, so I took those for a week and the UTI was gone. About a week later, I bought my family cake and pizza for a birthday party. I ate a whole bunch and there was some leftover the next day, so I ate a bunch again. Welp, that was my first Gluten attack. I was home alone and almost called an ambulance, my stomach was so full of gas I couldn't breathe, I was covered in sweat and thought I was having a heart attack.  Since quitting Gluten I haven't had the "gas attacks" or had the awful constipation that lasts 3 days. So I'm certain I'm Celiac and I absolutely blame low dose safety coated Aspirin, I think it's the time release binder that is the problem, because I was fine with regular aspirin, I was just breaking those into halves or quarters. Actually now that I think about it I may have even used the regular aspirin at other times in my life before that, just not the little low dose safety coated Aspirin, that's what I think caused it. What's weird is my Dad took the low dose safety coated Aspirin for years and years, for it's reported heart benefits, and he never got Celiac.  Anyways, I felt this was important to share, so they can find the cause of this disease, which seems to be affecting more people than ever before. At least Gluten Free Pizza exists, that's been my new staple food in my diet.
