I have to get serious for a moment.

I missed what went on with the Glutenease thread and a lot of these posts are going over my head, and maybe I am reading them wrong?

I usually don't say anything or get involved with the different disagreements that go on on this board, but in this case I feel I need to.

I happen to be one who got very sick from a vaccination I had later in life and my health and my life has suffered greatly because of it. You don't have to agree with it or even believe it, but I feel different opinions shoud be accepted and respected within this diverse community.

IMO this is a public board and talking about other members in this thread, or making fun of someone who believe's differently, is something I don't agree with and I realize I am in the minority on that.

Sorry Jules. The comments aren't meant to be aimed at a person, more at an attitude. And I don't disagree that vaccines have some scary chemicals in them, and some people can be very adversely affected. My point through the whole vaccine thread was: educated yourself as to the pros and cons of what you are considering, and make an informed choice. My disagreement was with the posters that simply said, no, you're wrong. In all cases it's better to get the flu, than get the shot. I don't happen to believe that either viewpoint is true for all cases. You are an individual, and all the data are for populations.

I am so sorry if I've offended. I am one of those that's confused about vaccinations (this comes from one with no children, mind you).....it seems that many kids HAVE gotten sick from vaccines, no denying. Heck, I didn't give Stinker any shots for the last 11 years of her life, and Annie only gets rabies shots.....

I think it's the extreme mindset. Jess said it better than any of can, of course. It's the unwillingness to consider other options, maybe? But crap, I have read sooooooo many accounts of children who DID change dramatically after a vaccine......it can't be ignored.

thank you, sillies, for your advice. But, um, who needs a doc when you've got google? I actually KNOW the correct weaning system. I just spaced out, completely spaced out and didn't THINK about weaning....so....I"ve reviewed the protocol and think I'll be okay.....

OMG..........I had an MRI of me brain done two summers ago (that's BRAIN, not BRIAN.......hmmmm....might be nice to have him MRI'd.... ) and the neurologist showed me these incredible pics of the results - - lots of squished-up jelly material, some cloudy stuff that could explain a number of my traits, and some equally telling, I'm sure, empty spaces.

There was also this rather shocking, lightening-rod looking thing coming right up the centRE of my brain and ending in a splotch within my cerebrum. He tut-tutted quietly and said it was nothing at all significant, sumfin' that had been there since I was in utero, some little funny thing.....had a long, Latinate name.

This thing may actually explain a fair amount about me......... . . . . ..

It would have been great to ask him for small printoffs of these images.....could keep one in me wallet. All those who ask to see current photos of the kids could be treated to, "Oh! You MUST see this latest shot of my brain".......

Jules- My apologies too- many people have bad experiences with different things (uhm like ticks ) and just because one person's experience was different from the general population doesn't mean it wasn't valid and BAD. I missed the vaccination thread but I can tell you that, right now, I would not get any vaccination based on people's experiences in my life (heck- look what happened with the Lyme vaccine)I hope you will accept my apology.

Actually the concept that each individual is (genetically) unique is the basis of what we do in this lab. Ultimately it would be nice to have a gander at someone's genes and know if radiation is going to cause excess breakage, or vancomycin is slowly metabolized so you should give less, or this guy's gonna die from legionnaire's if he's not treated, or this lady will recover from her viral infection, but if you give her antibiotics because she's demanding them you'll end up causing an autoimmune reaction.
