How you doin' Sarah? I was thinking we haven't heard from you lately.

Well... I'm sick of being sick. <_< I've been having gluten type symptoms for 10 days straight now. When it started, I thought it was cc from Micky D's... but I don't think it would last so long if that was it, so at this point I don't know what's making me sick. Diarrhea, evil stomach pain... the fatigue is overwhelming today.

I've been trying like hell to push through it, because I've been sick so much this year... my yard and gardens are a shameful mess. So I've been busting some butt on yard cleanup. Between the diarrhea and the heat, I got myself good and dehydrated Thursday. Stupid.

Trying to take a rest day today. Unfortunately, Ezra is having a "BAD DAY." And I'm low on patience today. :( Sigh.

I have gotten a lot of work done outside though, which is very heartening!

Aw--I'm sorry :(

Could it be something that you eat often that has changed--like in the manufacturing process? I've had gluten symptoms for a couple months now....I discovered that those nuts that got me (which had been fine) were now being processed on shared lines with wheat. Not all companies will list this.

To be fair, Diamond did list it, but I never checked since it had been fine before. <_<

This stuff is so frustrating sometimes, Sarah--I hope you get it figured out before too long. :)

Argh....poor Gus--hope it's just a passing upset. The other day, Allo was looking out the door and I heard the telltale whine and then he puked right there. I went to clean it up--and do you think he'd move? No, he just continued to watch the outdoors whilst I cleaned up around him <_<

This reminds me of an interesting thing that two or three vets have told me over the years...... when you are housetraining a puppy, it is very important NOT TO LET the pup see you cleaning up one of its messes, as its mother did this and the pup gets comfort from seeing this again. So perhaps Allo is comforted by your motherly cleaning of his soiled area, Patti......... <_<

I told our realtor that I'd like my picture taken with one of those magic real estate cameras!

Yes!! But those cameras usually make the house look bigger, so I dunno........

Emily . . . how are you holdin' up without the Ripper? . . . perhaps we should all think of a question for him to answer when he gets back . . . something like . . . would you be willing to go bald if you could have an extra set of eyes in the back of your head (and YOU would be the only one like that)??

:lol: Good one, Janet! He'd say yes, if they were 20/20. Otherwise he'd need two more ears around which to put a second pair of glasses.......

Hee--My little sister, who is really one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, has this habit of laughing whenever anyone trips or falls. It's like a nervous habit--she doesn't really think it's phunny, she just automatically laughs.

Remember the CLASSIC Mary Tyler Moore episode of Chuckles the Clown's funeral?:lol:

It is my birthday celebration at work today, they made me gluten free strawberry cupcakes which were very good! Plus we just had lunch ordered in and it was good. But where we ate was cold I am freezing now! SO I am bundled up in my lab coat.

How are all the fur balls of Sillyville?

I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying the Olympics. Last night's relay was sooooooooo amazing, I was yelling, no screaming at the tv, jumping up and down, laughing, crying, what an incredible moment to witness!!!

I also had a Sillies moment on Sat I think it was, I was watching the game between Japan and Misty May/Kerri Walsh and when the ball is not in play they always blast music at these beach volleyball venues, so anyway one of the songs that came on was the Baywatch theme song. And what did I immediately think of?? ................Me Sillies and The Hoff of course :lol::lol:

Since Bubba dug out her equestrian photo I should try to dig up some old swimming photos for my avatar, we all should put up our own "olympic" avatars just for shytes and gigglez :lol:

Since this is the Silly thread, everything and anything qualifies for a potential medal....it could be for gardening or make-up applying.

Can I have a medal for being the clumsiest silly??? Or for how many times a week I hit up Wegmans....see I can win!!!

Jestgar Rising Star

I feel compelled to add that since that photo I've lost like 25 pounds, cut my hair and had it highlighted, and discovered that monks are all talk and no action :P

jerseyangel Proficient

Well then, Miss Jess, we need a new picture and as for the monks....it's their loss :D

I agree post a new pic so we can see the new Jess!

Ooh Amanda.....

Phorgot to tell you--we went to Wegman's Saturday. Made the trek to Warminster because I can't get my Enrico's No Salt Added gluten-free Pasta Sauce anywhere around here.

But.....they're currently building a new Wegman's in Collegeville, which is easily not more than 20 minutes from here!!! I'll be able to go every week! :D

you must go on opening day!!!! I am telling you having one 15 minutes away for me is great! All I do is mention allergies and they tell me all about celiac, its wonderful!!!! Do go on opening day you can meet all the top people too.

I wanna Wegmans!!!! :(:( What is wrong with this country? There are NO Wegmans here.

Jess! Let's see the new hair, the new bod! :):)

And the Ripper is off to camp!! Did you sing "99 Bottles Of Beer On the Wall" and other fun camp songs on the way there?!?! He's gona have a great time .

The song that the orchestra played as the Titanic was sinking, and eventually slipped under, was "Nearer My God to Thee"....this is far too dirgey and churchish for Jack to get going around a big campfire, he has realized. So, he says he will start singing Madonna's songs (the singer, not the Virgin). he also loves Abba, but is wise enough to know that an eleven year-old boy belting out "Does Your Mother Know" is very uncool and worthy of merciless teasing. He's learned all this the hard way, I'm sad to say....... . .. :(

Perhaps he'll just start throwing out some of his baffling questions for them all to consider while staring into the flames........

I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying the Olympics. Last night's relay was sooooooooo amazing, I was yelling, no screaming at the tv, jumping up and down, laughing, crying, what an incredible moment to witness!!!

You Yanks have an amazing team..... :) Still waitin' for the first Canuck medal.. . . .

Yes!! This is a terrific spectator sport. Patti and Mark entered this Olympic competition as a pair, and won a gold medal.;)

Hmmmmm.......photos of us in Olympic posture? Gad.

I still have the shot of me by my toilet. This could be Olympic, I'm certain.......somehow....

Dunno--I don't think there's a Collegetown near here.

From the article you linked: "Currently, there are no recommended methods to test for non-celiac gluten sensitivity." "No recommended methods" is the key phrase here. Just on the anecdotal evidence of reading many posts on this forum, I think we sometimes see some elevated igg test scores with NCGS. They seem to be mildly elevated in these cases, not high high.

Thank you for your reply. I’m beginning to think of iodine as another culprit in this, as much as I fear it. I will say my rash is extreme and diffuse - it’s everywhere! I first had it on both sides of my neck in the summer of 2023. My PCP and dermatologist at the time, thought it was a reaction to jewelry I was wearing, even though I had been wearing the same necklaces for literally years with no reaction. The dermatologist at the time repeated over and over again that “allergies are acquired.” Which I knew. But I was not reacting to any other jewelry I was wearing. So it didn’t make any sense to me that it would only be from my necklaces. Anyway, it abated on it’s own. Only to come back with a vengeance months later - and I had not worn any necklaces at all. And the rash involved more area. I was put on Prednisone (oral steroid) taper and it worked well, and the itch and eventually the rash went away. Another trip to a different dermatologist at that time, prior to starting the Prednisone, told me to change all of my hygiene products like soap and shampoo, and to slather on Vaseline. None of which worked, hence the Prednisone. Needless to say, the itch and subsequent rash returned - and now spread everywhere, not just the hollows on both sides of my neck. It’s there, on my upper chest and left breast, both upper arms front and back, and elbows, my entire back, down both of my hips and buttocks and the front of my right thigh. Now the back of that right thigh is starting to itch as well. Also my lower right forearm and middle knuckle on my left hand since going gluten free. I’m just itching everywhere all the time. It keeps me awake, or wakes me up when I do fall asleep. I’m trying my best not to scratch, but it’s nearly impossible! I’ve been using a dry washcloth to rub instead of scratching. And I have used cool wet washcloths which help, but only lasts for a few minutes before starting up again. I’m pretty much at my wit’s end. Just waiting for something to indicate what’s really going on so I can do SOMETHING to stop it!

Reply to Russ H, Thank you for your input. As a nurse for 46 years I was aware of much of this. However, as a new member to dermatitis herpetiformis, I have been reading and researching everything I can about it in order to educate and help myself. I was hoping that the oral Dapsone would help to alleviate the itching. I knew the rash would take longer to abate. Instead of relief from the Dapsone, I had adverse reactions so had to stop it. After 2 months on it, if hadn’t helped with the itching at all, and I understand it usually helps in the first few days if it’s going to. My itch and rash actually got worse on the Dapsone and with going gluten free - which lead me to question whether I was getting glutined from other products I am using. It’s like a huge puzzle trying to put all these pieces together to somehow make it fit and make sense. Right now, myself and my doctor are perplexed.
