Yeah, baby...

Oh, I forget who wanted the flour conversion options. You could try white rice, quinoa flakes, and cornstarch or tapioca starch. I think millet or teff would be too dark.

mmmmm gluten-free vodka

Absolut is made from wheat. I know they say it's Gluten-free, but I get a strong reaction from it. It took me a while to figure it out, but Absolut makes me sick. That was my drink, I kept a bottle in my freezer. Now I have to drink rum, wine or if I can find some, sorghum beer.

Congratulations Queen Erica!!! You are more than welcome to take this job!! I will be shipping up the crown, robe and sceptre shortly. The robe smells. Needs dry cleaning. I think Emily let her dogs sleep on it. Don't ask about the blood stain!! Yes, the jester and trumpeter are doing better, however, they have a standing appointment for their couples counseling that you will need to make sure that they get to . . . and whatever you do, don't let them get ahold of the keys to ANYbody's car, truck, RV, lawn tractor, etc . . . you get the drift. If you've got a lock for yer bike, I would use it.

Awwwwww . . . Sammmmmmmmmmmy . . . You know Laura, right now while you guys are both at work, he's sleeping as much as he can so that he can stay up all night and play with youse guys tonight!!!:lol: Good Thang those puppies are so darn cute!!!

Mornin Sillies :)

Got my candida bloodtest results yesterday.

I really expected higher numbers.

Candida IgA 8

Candida IgG 2

Candida IgM 7

Limit's 10 for all.

So the test says it's not a problem. Or shouldn't be. It would've explained CFS, perfume/cleanser issues AND all the foods beyond gluten, dairy, soy that bother me.

I've never had a "total IgA" test. As w/ the celiac antibody test (which I never had), couldn't that possibly distort this antibody test?

P.S. Congrats Teen Queen Air-ih-kah!!!!!

And assorted :):(:D:angry::o:wub: as applicable ;)

<got some catchin' up to do>

PTAUM!!!

Sorry you didn't get any answers from the candida test :( ..might be worth getting a total IgA......although low IgA wouldn't affect the IgM and IgG results <_<

Happy Hump Day Sillies!!!!!!!

Curly Lisa had her silly on last night  I meant to ask how old is your DD?

puppy love..........I LOVE their breath and their smell!

Yes, the puppy smell!!!!!! You know those email "getting to know you" surveys (with questions like what's your favorite food, movie, tv show, drink, smell) I always put down "puppies" as one of my favorite smells!!!

So good to know I'm not the only odd ball on that one, hee hee!

My Stinker, God rest her soul, ran a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeerry successful trenching and excavation business in the back yard for her first two to three years........I'm not talking just......digging holes........oh no. We are talking furrows.....caverns........deep, long, connected ruts.....tunnels......nearly the whole grass obliterated and gone. Just a continuous maze of deep ruts and furrows and mud and dirt and holes.

This absolutely C R A C K E D me arse up!!!!!!!! Is that anything like a crinkly bum? Or two entirely different things.....

That is a good question...are Labs mischevious? I do not know....you might find the occasional chewed up shoe in your closet Laura!

Okay. . . . will be trying to phigure out this enormous, expensive, suddenly intimidating toy today . . ...crap, hot tubs involve mathematical testing, configuring, the dreaded cleaning. . . . .....

Perhaps the bugler can be hired (or threatened) to do this. The jester has NO work ethic - - just wants to sit around, shake his tambourine, chortle, make people laugh, be entertained . . .. can you imagine? Putting off other daily duties to laugh and be entertained with others?? <_<

Didn't get a chance to say CONGRATS on the arrival of the hot tub yesterday Em!! What a big day here in Sillyville..... Sammy came home, Erica was crowned Queen, you got yer hot tub, and Bev's good news!!!!!

A Puppy Queen Hot Tubbin PAH-TAY!!!! With Bev wavin BOTH her arms wildly above her head!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who knew hot tubs would require maths  that's something to bring up when kids say, "when will I ever need to use this again in my life???" when doing math homework. Now we all can say, "you just wait, one of these days you will want to get a hot tub and however will you manage without MATH!!!!!!!"

Talking of malfeasance...

Feeling ever so better about me my son's educational future today having had a meeting phirst thing this morn - they are going to try and get him into an 'integration programME' for kids who've been out of school for a long time

Glad the meeting went well Nik....and I'm glad you are feeling better about things :)

I hope it all works out with this other programme!!! It sure sounds like a good fit, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Julie--snow????? :o:o tis early indeed! We must track down our dear yeti and send him yer way in case shoveling will be needed

That yeti is a life saver with all the snow removal :D

Um, the forecast might be changing. It's shaking out to not be as cold as first predicted, thus a good possibility there will only be rain and not snow.

Good luck with the house hunting!!

I'm sure you all know the answer to "Did Sammie sleep through the night?" :P

Janet is right, she'll sleep all day and will be ready to play all night!!

Thanks Bunnie for the bangin banana bread recipe :)

And thanks Peter for the link!

So my little story to share.....I was treadmilling this morning, flipping through the OnDemand music channels as usual trying to find a song with a good up tempo beat when I land on a catchy song by the band 3 Oh! 3 (maybe the youngins or kids of sillies are more familiar?) Anywho, I'm just walking along at a brisk pace and I hear these lyrics......

Shush girl shut your lips,

Do the Hellen Keller and talk with your hips.

I said, Shush girl shut your lips,

Do the Hellen Keller and talk with your hips.

I said, Shush girl shut your lips,

Do the Hellen Keller and talk with your hips.

Are you still planning on going to the Mayo clinic?

Your approach is spot-on—trusting reliable sources like Mayo Clinic and sticking to a gluten-free diet that works for you is the best way to navigate all the noise out there. The claim that rice and corn contain forms of gluten harmful to celiacs is indeed a misconception. While these grains do contain proteins that may technically be referred to as "glutens" in a broader scientific sense, they are structurally and functionally different from the gliadin found in wheat, which is the specific protein harmful to those with celiac disease. Scientific research overwhelmingly supports the safety of non-contaminated rice and corn for celiacs unless there’s a separate sensitivity or allergy involved. Some opinion pieces or alternative health sources may blur the lines by conflating these proteins, which can cause unnecessary worry. You're absolutely correct to focus on the distinction between scientifically validated information and anecdotal claims. It's also important to note that some people with celiac disease may develop sensitivities to other grains over time, but this is individual and not a universal rule. If you’re asymptomatic and thriving on a diet that includes certified gluten-free products with rice and corn, there’s no reason to change what’s clearly working for you. The internet is a breeding ground for well-meaning but misguided advice, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Your instinct to validate claims through reliable research is exactly the right way to go. Keep enjoying your gluten-free meals, stick with trusted certifications, and don’t feel pressured to adopt restrictive diets that aren’t backed by science or tailored to your specific needs. Happy New Year to you too!

Healing and regaining energy after a celiac diagnosis can be a frustratingly slow process, but you're not alone in feeling this way! Everyone's healing journey is different, and factors like age, how long celiac was undiagnosed, and the extent of intestinal damage can all play a role. In general, villi can begin to heal within a few weeks to months after starting a strict gluten-free diet, but for some adults—especially those diagnosed later in life—it can take a year or more to see significant improvement. Studies suggest that older adults may heal more slowly, but it does happen with consistent gluten avoidance. Since you're already taking iron, vitamin D3, and a multivitamin, you're on the right track. Here are a few additional tips that might help: Be Patient with Your Body: It’s hard to wait, but healing takes time. Track your progress in small ways—maybe energy levels on a scale of 1-10 each week—to notice gradual improvements. Check for Other Deficiencies: Sometimes celiacs have trouble absorbing other nutrients, like B12, magnesium, or zinc, which can also affect energy levels. Your doctor may want to test for these. Consider Other Conditions: Fatigue can be linked to other issues like thyroid problems, adrenal fatigue, or even sleep disturbances, which can sometimes occur alongside celiac disease. It might be worth discussing this with your healthcare provider. Stay Active, but Pace Yourself: Gentle exercise, like walking or yoga, can help improve energy levels, but don’t push yourself too hard—listen to your body. Hydration and Balanced Meals: Make sure you're drinking enough water and eating a balanced gluten-free diet with plenty of whole foods. Sometimes highly processed gluten-free products can leave you feeling sluggish. Remember, healing isn’t just physical—it’s also mental. You’ve made a huge, positive change by going gluten-free, and your body is working hard to repair itself. It’s okay to feel impatient, but know that you're moving in the right direction. Hang in there—you’ll get there!

Hi Scott, I thought I'd be like "most people" and could go back to having dairy once my villi had healed.  But after dealing with neurological problems that cropped up long after my gut had healed it turned out that this just wasn't true.  I have no idea if celiac influences pancreatic enzyme production or if it's the other way around--for some of us-- but there is a very real relationship that isn't being discussed with patients.  The article just reiterates information that can mislead you if your real problem is pancreatic not villi related.

Welcome to the forum, @Amyinwyoming! Answers to your question that you might receive may not be helpful to you as an individual since sensitivity levels vary significantly within the gluten sensitive/gluten intolerant/celiac community. The other complicating factor is that low levels of gluten in a product may not cause obvious symptoms but may still generate low level inflammation in the small bowel. When in doubt, it is best to pass on the product. I'm not a particularly sensitive celiac so I might allow myself to eat something at a guest's house that was made from a food product with the kind of disclaimer label you describe but I typically shy away from buying them or consuming them when I have a choice.
