Hugs Amanda.

I've been where you are with my mom (twice). Be strong with your parents, and come here to whimper.

Yes, myself also twice with my Mum.

Hang tight sweetie, I know it's scarey :( {{{{hugs}}}} ♥ ♥

No word as yet from our Amanda. . . . ...hope she checks in soon. I do hate when one of us is living through a bad situation, and we have no way of knowing how they are. . . ... :(

I am experiencing: waves of relief and happiness :D (eye appointment was superb - - non-diabetic eye results!), some self-satisfied contentment B) , real affection for my specialist, as we have a long history with one another

Em... Thrilled with the good news. :D

Sad to hear of your neighboUr, Judith, but the community you have there is surely a plus in this day & age.

Thanks Tom, for the kind words.........Happy to see your coming back with some funny.!!!!!!!!!!!

Update

I know if the surgery takes place here he doesn't have a good of a chance as he would having it done at a larger hospital. So now I am waiting....and sadly I feel as if my life has stopped....there is no forward and no backward......

thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

So good to see a note from you.

We'll be pulling for you and your Dad.

I know how your feeling about wanting something different than what your parents want. A hard place to be. Come here to share with us. I guess this needs to be decided quickly. That's hard to do i know.

These decisions are so hard to do fast. guess your still at your parents home. Hang in there your a very strong lady.

Praying all will work out for the best posible out come for your Dad.

Love Ya Judy

Has the Oracle driven through all of our ten provinces and three territories? 'Tis a freakin' lot of land . .. . ...sounds arduous . . . . ...

Hmm, well that needs a qualified answer. From July of 1994 through the end of March, 1999, the answer was that we had driven to all ten provinces and both territories. Then, on April 1, 1999, the Northwest Territories was divided (again, that's how Yukon came to be in 1898), splitting off the eastern half as Nunavut. I have never been to Nunavut, and you can't drive there.

We have driven the Trans-Canada Highway from end to end, finishing the last missing segment (Vancouver Island) in 1999.

It rusted out in 2006 and had to be replaced, but I have the license plate that traveled to 49 states, the District of Columbia, ten provinces and two territories. It was on my vehicles from 1980, and the current place is a reissue with the same characters on it.

Emily, great news about your eyes!

Amanda, I'm sending {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Pataughmn!! I just noticed yer av! :D

Em--So relieved all went well today and that the shortage of needed emoticons were happy ones!! :D

I just spent well over an hour on the horn wif Comcast.....long story short--I have a new email password, all my browing history is gone and if anyone emailed me especially today, I may not have gotten it. I've been missing emails, having them delivered days late, etc...and today I couldn't even log onto my account.

I know I sent some things earlier, but don't know if they actually sent....lots of stuff not in me sent file :(

So, I'm lost and confuzzled. PeOter--if you would resend that info from last night I'd appreciate it cuz I lost it. :)

One cool thing--the lady who helped me out was in Canada. I told her that she did sound a lot like a friend of mine who lives in Ottawa--Em, her accent was just like yours! Anyway, she told me her daughters live in Ottawa--small world, eh? :P

Press-ups sounds like a WonderBra competitor

Or slang fer a jock.... . ...hmm.. . ..nope, I suppose that would be somethin' like squish-in.....

Well, I don't want to monkey-wrench all the calculations or invalidate all the comments (or do I?), but Em's trip was 12.5% longer than if they'd gone 120kph.

Who's w/ me on Em's avg speed being 8/9ths of 120kph?

Gad. . . ...12.5%. .. . . and that is time that's gone . . .. ..That was time I could be using now to. . ...start a painting or. . . relax in the hot tub or. . . catch up on the phone wif me mum. It's GONE.<_<

Should have set that cruise at 120.

Phlipping Internet service went down here again for three hours, one of which I spent on the blower with "support" in India. :(

I just spent well over an hour on the horn wif Comcast....

These now rarely-used expressions for the telephone have an interesting story of origin. I shall let Sooozie enlighten you, as it was she and her school friends who coined them years ago. . . ...

Ha! :D . . . . Wait . .. . . . . it's not me wif the accent.. ... . . ..

I wonder what my accent sounds like?:lol:

I never realized I had an accent either until then!! :P

Oooh! Oooh! I know this one.....it's the Beeve!!!!!

YAY!!!!!! Well done, knowing those somewhat-buried lyrics to Boehv's band's "Back in Black"

That's gotta be worth 200pts on "Know Your Fellow Psillies" (tune in next week for the exciting conclusion, including the Lightning Round!!)

[Far more swift than a Lightening Round, which .. ..uhhhh. ..could be tanning-in-reverse? No No!!! It's LOSING a tan as the days grow shorter!!!!]

Maybe we need to take note of the runner-up next time.

I did finally end up talking with someone in Toronto who knew what was actually going on, but that was only the last four minutes of the call.

To keep yer mind occupied, picture the two of us sleeping in opposite corners of Nik's living room whilst the rest of the gang is fanning Jess and bringing her grapes on the divan

Is it just my active imagination or can the rest of you also picture clear as day Jess atop a divan that is draped with 2000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets being fanned whilst nibbling grapes?!?!

Patti, so glad you got yer roots phixed!!!!

Thanks for asking

I am great. I'm still waiting for my data (which is why I have time to hang out now) and as soon as I get it I'll be only checking for much needed humor. (Gotta process 25,000 x 730 data points  Start sending those spacebook drinks!)

Good to hear Jess!

Hope you got your data, which by now I am sure you did, and you are busy scientific-ating and stratema-gizing and mathematical-ating away!!!

Yes, I'm in a bang

With a gang

They've got to catch me if they want me to hang

Cause I'm back on the track

And I'm beatin' the flack

Nobody's gonna get me on another rap

So look at me now

I'm just makin' my play

Don't try to push your luck, just get out of my way

How cute is Sammy, Laura and the llama? (sounds like the title of a kids book)

I would ask for a total IGA test (aka, Immunoglobulin A (IgA) and other names as well) to check for IGA deficiency. That test should always be ordered along with the TTG IGA. If someone is IGA deficient, their individual celiac IGA test scores will be artificially low which can result in false negatives. Make sure you are eating generous amounts of gluten leading up to any testing or diagnostic procedure for celiac disease to ensure validity of the results. 10g of gluten daily for a period of at least 2 weeks is what current guidelines are recommending. That's the amount of gluten found in about 4-6 slices of wheat bread.
    • jlp1999
There was not a total IGA test done, those were the only two ordered. I would say I was consuming a normal amount of gluten, I am not a huge bread or baked goods eater
    • trents
Were you consuming generous amounts of gluten in the weeks leading up to the blood draw for the antibody testing? And was there a Total IGA test done to test for IGA deficiency?
    • jlp1999
Thank you for the reply. It was the TTG IGA that was within normal limits
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @jlp1999! Which IGA test do you refer to as being normal? TTG-IGA? Total IGA? DGP-IGA? Yes, any positive on an IGA or an IGG test can be due to something other than celiac disease and this is especially true of weak positives. Villous atrophy can also be cause by other things besides celiac disease such as some medications, parasitic infections and even some foods (especially dairy from an intolerance to the dairy protein casein). But the likelihood of that being the case is much less than it being caused by celiac disease.
