Violin; I've been playing for about 15 years. I started when I was tiny :)

Fun. I bet you're really good! I play flute ... but just with the Church choir and the community band. I played from 5th grade through high school, then didn't touch it for 23 years! I started playing again a couple years ago. It's fun.

It always feels weird and so conceited saying this, but yeah, I am good :) At the moment I'm a bit rusty, I've been working on a Concerto by Saint-Saens but haven't been practicing as regularly as I should.

My mum plays flute, she gets it out once a year because this local choir always asks her to help w/their christmas concert. The rest of the year she doesn't touch it (she's also a fabulous pianist, nice to have a "built in" accompanist ;))

Anyways, I'm off to go pick up my brother from school (my real brother, he's 5yo and also adorable :D)

Humility is having a good understanding of both what you're good at and what you're bad at. It would be false humility if you acted as if you were bad, but you were really good. It's true humility that you recognize you are good, but are modest enough to be shy about saying it. :)

I'm sure your bit rusty is still pretty darn good!! ;)

Do the happy-fridge-is-coming-this-A.M-dance!

I can't wait to get this fridge in may house! It's like a monsoon here right now, and the guy is supposed to brin gthe fridge "around 10" It has to come up about 15 steps before it gets inside, so I'm not exactly thrilled with the weather :(

Olivia was sick to her stomach last night, so none of us got too much sleep. Unfortunately I need to be at a "study abroad fair" that I helped organize, so no staying home to catch up -_-

I missed most of LOST last night too :(

Why do I have the feeling that the fridge isn't going to fit in the front door without cutting it in half?

Time to light the incense and dance around the Barbies (not recommended at work, but these are desperate times)

CarlaB Enthusiast

It'll fit. They have to be able to get those refrigerators in standard size doors, right?

I hope your wife likes it, too.

This I really want to see! Good luck with the new fridge. It looks like the one we have and we LOVE IT!

I'm sure it will fit...I just don't deal well with the aggrevation this sort of stuff brings...Like when I ordered the darn thing. It should have taken 20 minutes, but ended up almost 2 hrs...I'm sure I'll have a story later on :)

Maybe Fabio will deliver the fridge... :P

Now that i typed that i realized the drivers name was Steven, he called to confirm everything last night. You don't think it could be Steven Segal? Steven Baldwin? Steve Buschemi?

The Fridge is in and chillin'!

Some random Steve delivered it- without incident :)

It is BIG, and my kitchen is small. It sticks out obout 6" in front of the counter, so it's like you have to walk around the fridge to get anywhere (galley kitchen). I'm sure I'll get used to it, I can't wait for the missus' first impressions when I get home. (hopefully her first impression won't be made on my forehead via freezer door :P )

 It seems big, because you're not used to it yet. Give it a week, you won't even notice anymore. :P

All this talk of Steve(s) got me thinking- poll time, who's your favorite Steve. Then I realized gfp would win in a landslide, so...

Who's your favorite Barry?

(feel free to submit your vote with a convincing picture)

My top 5 (in no particular order):

Barry White http://www.comicgenius.com/DiscoFever/imag...arry_white1.webp (the best of the Barrys)

Barry Manilow http://www.erikgrow.com/Birth/Images/manilow.webp (still looking for his "good" side)

Barry Williams http://www.weht.net/pics/barry.webp (rapping...the real Greg Brady...)

Barry Bonds http://www.funnyhub.com/pictures/img/barry-bonds-in-drag.webp (speaks for itself)

Barry Pepper http://www.creamystar.com/actor/barry_pepp...y_pepper_01.webp (a.k.a. uber-Barry my favorite of the acting Barrys - loved him in Saving Private Ryan)

jerseyangel Proficient

Where do you come up with this stuff???

I would have to say my favorite is a tie between Barry White and Barry Manilow--depending what mood I'm in B) .

I know, of all the Barrys, why did he have to be the first to go?

Lou Rawls, now there is another voice...You'll never find...another love like mine...

Is he still with us?

now there is a fun game! (Dead or Alive?)

Abe Vigoda? (never really sure, even when he was still on tv!) :P

I wish more doctors emphasized on the importance of Vitamin D. I'll increase the Vitamin D3 supplementation from 2000 IU to 4000 IU. I'll also try Benfotiamine and see if my symptoms improve. Thanks for your suggestions.

Hey, the pan is scrubbed with soap and water, and after that wiped with vinegar oil. Is that ok or should I consider switching pans and only cooking glutenfree there? The oven is wiped with vinegar oil. Is this enough? Also different celiacs have different symtpoms and reactions, does this also mean that maybe some celiacs only react at lets say 100mg gluten per day? Or will that damage any celiac? I have no symptoms, but my pancreas elestase was tested extremely low, which indicated pancreatic insufficiency. I dont know if celiac caused it or not. Also do you guys think a celiac can be safe with other gluten eating family members? like of 5 family members, only 2 eat glutenfree. Can the celiacs still be safe? Does the dishwasher for example usually clean all gluten of the dishes?

Welcome to the forum, @Gill.brittany8, Yes, the bloodwork is confusing.   One has to be eating a sufficient amount of gluten (10 grams/day, about 5-6 slices of bread) in order for the antibody level to get high enough to be measured in the bloodstream.  If insufficient amounts of gluten are eaten, the the antibodies stay in the small intestines, hence the statement "tTG IgA may normalize in individuals with celiac disease who maintain a gluten-free diet."  The bloodwork reflects anemia.  People with anemia can have false negatives on tTg IgA tests because anemia interferes with antibody production.  Diabetes and Thiamine deficiency are other conditions that may result in false negatives.  Anemias, B12 deficiency, iron deficiency, Thiamine deficiency and gastritis are common in undiagnosed Celiac disease.    The DGP IgG antibody test should be given because your daughter is so young.  Many young people test positive on DGP IgG because their immune systems are not mature and don't produce IgA antibodies yet.  Your daughter has several alleles (genes for Celiac disease).   Your daughter needs to be checked for nutritional deficiencies.  Iron (ferritin) B12, Vitamin D, Thiamine and Vitamin A should be checked.   Were any biopsies taken during the endoscopy? Keep us posted on your progress.
    • knitty kitty
The intestinal tract can be as long as twenty-two feet long, so intestinal damage may be out of the reach of endoscopy tools.  Some people have had more success with capsule endoscopy, but this method cannot take biopsies.

@Jack Common, It's possible that your antibiotic for giardiasis has caused thiamine deficiency.   https://hormonesmatter.com/metronidazole-toxicity-thiamine-deficiency-wernickes-encephalopathy/ And... Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/ For clarification, the weight of your slice of bread is not equal to the amount of gluten in it.   Gluten helps form those big holes in breads, so breads like thick chewy pizza crust and artisan breads contain more gluten than cakes and cookies.
