I Ate Some Bad Things And I'm Noticing Strange Symptoms

I'm pretty good at being gluten free, but the las two times I've had my period I've really messed up.

this weekend was my worst yet.

First my husband brought me home a blizzard with brownies.. I ate almost all of it. You can't do that to a woman on her cycle!!!

He didn't even think about the brownies.

I was itching so badly. I have dh horribly.

But today I noticed I am not only itching badly, but I keep getting sharp stabbing pains in my hip joints, my wrists, fingers and neck.

Its strange how much I've noticed the problems I had in the past.

Sarah, it looks like you get neurological symptoms from gluten, as well as the DH. Hopefully you will remember those before you knowingly eat gluten again (and give your husband a kick in the behind for me for bringing you a gluteny treat!).

Maybe next time you can have some gluten-free brownies ready to go! And enlist your husband's help. No bringing home gluten treats at any time of the month!

Great advice! In addition to the brownies (hide some in the back of the freezer) and some of your favorite gluten free chocolate (hidden), have some gluten free ice cream on hand. And honestly, the longer i'm gluten free, the better my PMS is, and the fewer cravings I have during the month.

The first step would be to re-examine your diet to see if hidden gluten is the cause. Eating out would be the number one source of contamination, even if restaurants offer gluten-free menus and options.

You may want to see al allergist and run a standard food allergy panel to see if wheat allergy could contribute to this, but again, the most likely culprit if you have celiac disease would be gluten contamination.

Any specific tests you would recommend to check for other allergens or issues ?

Thank you, i have been gluten free for 15 years and my TTG IGA was 16.2 and baseline is 15 according to the lab. The IGA was 415.

For people with celiac disease hidden gluten in their diets is the main cause of elevated Tissue Transglutaminase IgA Antibodies (tTG-IgA), but there are other conditions, including cow's milk/casein intolerance, that can also cause this, and here is an article about the other possible causes:
