Arg! Glutened

I just found out that the tater tots that my husband bought are NOT gluten free. I thought I was feeling so crappy because of my cpap not working (I also have sleep apnea). But it may be the tots we had!! I'm so frustrated at myself, aparently I need to read all the labels wether or not he reads them. Honest mistake I know, but I'm just so frustrated at myself!!

I was convinced that if I was glutened, it was from what I ate at my sister's house (they have been super accomodating and careful). I can't believe I was so quick to blame her when it was my fault!

Thanx for letting me rant.

PS: my mom told me that my great aunt went into the hospital (I've never met her and didn't know abt her health issues) and came out healthier and she wants to talk to me about celiac disease. Somehow now I'm the expert (1 month on the diet!)!

Thanx guys!

Adelle: This happens to us all.

I have even bought things myself and read the labels 3x (once on the shelf, once going into the trolley and once unpacking)

When you do this with something you then have as a comfort food it can be really tough. I used to buy a specific brand of tortilla chips and later when they changed the labelling they had unnamed starch and later wheat starch....

I spent months eatiung these being ill and miserable... (literally for lunch most days) ....

Life sucks then you find gluten free..... ???

@DayaInTheSun what were the shortness of breath symptoms for you ? And did they come on all of a sudden or was it a gradual increase in said symptoms?
    • DayaInTheSun
I had shortness of breath so much so I went to a lung doctor. I told him I get short of breath wirh certain foods, he said “Food doesn’t affect hour breathing.” I told him maybe it was an allergy  he cut me off then said “Food allergies don’t cause shortness of breathe.” I beg to differ as soon as I figured out what foods were causing my shortness of breath it went away. I also never saw him again as he was rude, condescending? And refuse to listen to me kept dismissing my problems as “you’re young.” I cut out Soy, dairy, sesame, eggs, and of course gluten. I stopped being short of breath, going on a two years now. No thanks to the doctor I saw. Figured it out on my own.

I would suggest you ask your doctor to order a "total IGA" test to check for IGA deficiency.

I did a gluten challenge. I ate bread yesterday. I immediately felt horrid. Depressed, fearful, angry.  I also had the weirdest night terrors and "day terrors" (delusions). They were do awful, that I am still terrified. How do gluten impact your dreams?
