Dh Questions

Greetings! I've never posted in this section of the forum before, but maybe someone can help figure out if DH is what my 2 year old has. Her two older sibs have both been diagnosed, but her blood test came back with some strange numbers. We then realized (through this forum) that there is no point in trying to diagnose her via blood tests at her age. However, she has been on a gluten-free diet since May when her brother was diagnosed. Within a month or so, we saw improvement with her stools (which was the only obvious symptom). However, she has had a puzzling rash since she was about 10 month old. Doctors don't seem to agree on what it is--I've been told yeast (and prescribed a cream-ineffective), I was told it was some other kind of agressive diaper rash (and prescribed another cream-also ineffective). It is primarily in the area between her pubic bone and her belly button, and every once in a while one will crop up on her abdomen or her thigh (very much out of her diaper area). Even sometimes on her cheek. It is not symmetrical in that sense, so I don't know if that is particularily important or not. Regardless of if we use a cream or not, it follows the same type of cycle. She'll start out with a couple of red bumps, then in a matter or several hours or a day, she will have a whole crop of them. Some of them form white heads (similar to pimples), and she will have this nasty rash for about a week or so, then they will start to receed (quite quickly--same as they appear) and leave a whole bunch of discolored spots that last for a couple of weeks. Then, she will be perfectly clear for days or a couple of weeks, after which time the cycle starts all over again. If this sounds like DH could someone let me know. Or, if someone has heard of anything like it, I would be thrilled to hear about it. Thanks!!

The white heads like pimples sounds like DH to me. I get those in the corner of my mouth below the bottom lip, around my nose and below my left eye and on the eyelid. When I get that much of an outbreak I have been into serious contact with gluten. Unfortunately it has all been accidental. That means that she must be ingesting gluten accidently.

I don’t think it matters much if you trust the supplier, I get them from a Welsh company maesyffin mushrooms but I think the guy there has retired from growing now and just resells eu imports so it’s probably the same mushrooms he uses to make the tinctures as the company you posted. It’d probably be cheaper to buy dried and make your own tincture.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Have others experienced LUQ and L sided back pain when on gluten? Could gluten be irritating the pancreas to cause the slight rise in lipase?

Wow! I'd be interested to know where you get the tinctures. You can DM me if you wish. There's a Spanish company ... hifasdaterra ... who make high quality medicinal mushrooms in capsule form.

Jason, I have a bone to pick with your terminology. There is "gluten intolerance" which I believe is synonymous with celiac disease and then there is "gluten sensitivity" which comes from Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity or NCGS for short. It is true, however, that there is still a lot of inconsistency in the use of these terms.
