Frequent Urination. Why?

What causes this? Does anyone have this symptom?

For the past few nights, I've been peeing constantly. I've been getting up two-three times a night to pee. Its aweful.

I know I've eaten something questionable recently. I'm very itchy, hungry, new dh rash, gassy, and needing to use the bathroom too often.

I am constantly thirsty too, so I figured I was using the bathroom so much because of that. But last night I didn't drink anything despite being thirsty. I still woke.

I'm still trying to figure out what I ate that was wrong.

Anyone else have this issue as well?

i know that when i tried gluten free (waiting totally for biopsy) I pee'd less at night and during the day....its a strange symptom and the first i noticed alleviated off gluten...or atleast seemed better...

A dry mouth is a frequent symptom of celiac. Perhaps you are compensating by drinking additional liquids.

Frequent urination has many causes. Frequent ruination of samll amounts indicate bladder irritation- if accompanied by discomfort - then usually points toward infection/inflammation.

If no discomfort - irritated bowel, reproductive issues (menstruation, fibromas ect) can irritates the bladder from inside the abdomen.

In malabsorbtion diseases - certain biproducts of digestion end up in your body (when they shouldn't and (as we see in the wide variety of symptoms with celiac) can impact any system, Some cause relaxation of the bladder - seen as bed wetting or frequent urination.

Urinating large volumes is related to kidney function and/or pituitary, drinking excess amount of water, and diseases that cause water loss - diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipdus, kidney failure, high salt diet can alos cause fluid rention.

I am sure i left stuff out and probably went into more detail than you anticipated. Frequent urination is not uncommon on celiacs...but if it continues, it would be wise to have it investigated. The factors that affect urine production ar many...

I do drink A LOT of water.

I am peeing a lot of stuff, and it doesn't hurt to pee. I do know I am about to get my period soon as well, and I've been having some cramping, but I cant tell if its due to my period, or from eating something not good. I seem to get the cramping in the evening only for the past few days.

ANd I have been eatings loads of salt!

I keep trying to tell myself to NOT eat it, becuase it affects my DH.

Hi,

How weird. Me too. I've been gluten free for almost 3 weeks now & find I have to get up a couple of times a night to pee & that sometimes the sheer volume of urine (sorry TMI!) seems like I've been drinking gallons of water before bedtime when I actually haven't had too much to drink? I always used to sleep right through.

I do notice when I get glutened that I am very thirsty & then later also crave salty food (along with the vomiting & other nasties!)

So no real answers, but just to say 'snap' really.

I started a post a few days ago about this very topic. My doctor told me that I may be drinking TOO much water, which just sounded silly to me, as it seems most people don't drink enough.

Gluten does not discriminate, it can effect kidney function as well as other organs. If it is from your body trying to clear the gluten it should ease soon. If it does not let up soon you should see a doctor and make sure they check your blood sugar. Undiagnosed celiac took out my pancreas, the diabetes was discovered by accident in a routine blood test at my doctors. The only symptoms I had were getting up at night to pee and I was a bit more tired than usual. I have been gluten-free for almost 4 years but the doctor was quite certain that the celiac caused the diabetes. Once my blood sugar was under control the nightly peeing pees stopped. This may not be the case for you but you should make sure diabetes is not lurking.

      Testing for celiac

      I have been diagnosed with Microscopic Colitis (LC) for quite a few years, so I have been gluten-free and DF.  I would like to get tested for Celiac Disease because of the possibility of cross contamination and colon cancer.  And if you were hospitalized and didn't have a celiac diagnosis you could not get gluten-free food, I don't know if that is true or not.  Also because there is chance of colon cancer so I want to know if I have Celiac Disease and need to be on very restrictive diet.  The only testing I did was a sigmoid scope and Enter Lab but no gene testing.  I know I can go back to eating gluten for a few months, but I would worry you would have to stay home for the few months while getting gluten.  What other options do I have?  Should I do the gene testing?  Maybe through Entero Lab?  Any other tests?  How important is it to have Celiac diagnosed? Thank you! Barb

      Take it easy! I was just prompting you for some clarification.  In the distillation process, the liquid is boiled and the vapor descends up a tube and condenses into another container as it cools. What people are saying is that the gluten molecules are too large and heavy to travel up with the vapor and so get left behind in the original liquid solution. Therefore, the condensate should be free of gluten, no matter if there was gluten in the original solution. The explanation contained in the second sentence I quoted from your post would not seem to square with the physics of the distillation process. Unless, that is, I misunderstood what you were trying to explain.

      No they do not contradict each other. Just like frying oil can be cross contaminated even though the oil doesn't contain the luten protein. The same is the same for a distilled vinegar or spirit which originally came from a gluten source. Just because you don't understand, doesn't mean you can tell me that my sentences contradict each other. Do you have a PhD in biochemistry or friends that do and access to a lab?  If not, saying you don't understand is one thing anything else can be dangerous to others.

      The reason that it triggers your dermatitis herpetiformis but not your celiac disease is because you aren't completely intolerant to gluten. The celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis genes are both on the same chronometer. Dermatitis herpetoformus reacts to gluten even if there's a small amount of cross contamination while celiac gene may be able to tolerate a some gluten or cross contamination. It just depends on the sensitivity of the gene.

I guess I misunderstand what you are trying to say but the statements in those two sentences seem to contradict one another.
