hey everyone!

i'm sure that the topic of what alcohol is gluten free has been covered before, but i'm looking for a few more specifications, so if you could help me out that would be great!

ok so here are my limitations:

1) obviously, gluten free

2) caffeine free

3) low calorie

4) cheap (not many ingredients/not way expensive ones)

5) taste -- i'm not a big drinker, i don't really like the taste of alcohol... so something slightly fruity/carbonated to mask the taste of alcohol??

also, like i said, i rarely drink...maybe like 4 drinks in my whole life (i'm like the only college student on the planet who has never been drunk haha). i don't want to get totally wasted, but don't really know much is ok for a person of my size (5'7''/114lbs) and tolerance (zero lol)? any advice?? i heard that sometimes liquor can get to you without realizing at first and i don't want that to happen... thanks so much in advance for the help!! you guys are awesome :D

Off the top of my head...

vodka sprite? Maybe with a splash of juice in it depending on what type of juice they have at the bar?

that's the only thing I can think of that would fit all those qualifcations, but I'll think about it some more.

I used to drink 7up, vodka, and pineapple orage juice. tasted like carbinated juice to me. Also when we have a girls night in or something we make our own margaritas and pina calaudas. you can buy a frozen concentrate in the grocery store (non-alcoholic) of a daquari or stawberry margarita or pina calauda. dump it in a blender with ice and we always just use like bacardi rum. it was really good drink for the summer especially.

Also I would say don't make the drinks super strong at first if you aren't used to drinking. I am one of those people where it creeps up on me. I can have one and feel good but i feel the same for along time after drinking one and then it hits me which is why i no longer drink. it was definately a trial and error process. hope that helps. :D

I always ask for my drinks tall. Tall means a bigger glass that has the normal amount of alcohol but is filled up with the mixer. A double is a bigger glass that has twice as much alcohol- you don't want that. You need to clarify this and make sure they know you don't mean a double when you say tall. If you take a sip and it is really strong - they gave you a double.

I would recommend the flavored vodka's. I don't think there is any mixer that meets all your criteria and is at a bar, but if you are buying stuff here are some ideas:

stoli vanilla and caffeine free diet coke

stoli raspberrry or cranberry with diet sprite

All juices have sugar, so does sprite, and diet coke has caffeine so most normal bars won't have anything exactly as you want it. I drink stoli raspberry with club soda which meets all requirements except being fruity and easy to drink if you don't drink much. None on those are cheap but if you want something that tastes good, then you can't go cheap. Absolute makes some cheaper vodkas that are flavored but I really don't like them.

I like Stoli's flavors the best, too. The Smirnoff flavors are WAY too sweet.

I agree with the above - you're going to be hardpressed to find mixers at any bar that meet all those requirements. I drank Stoli Orange or Stoli Raz and soda with a splash of sprite for a long time. The soda water gives it a very flat taste. Maybe a splash of OJ or cran? Stoli Vanilla and coke will taste like a cream soda. or Stoli Vanilla nad gingerale is nice and sweet, too.

If it's *not too busy* you might be able to bring in a small unopened bottle of your own mixer and ask the bartender if they will use that for your drinks.

@CeliacPsycho246, You might try cutting out dairy.  Some of us react to Casein, the protein in dairy, the same as to gluten.

Yep, the edit window times out very quickly. It's okay. I got a good laugh out of it.
