Help Night Sweats

I have been having terrible night sweats, I wake up totally wet all over my body, I have ben taking my temp when this happens as told by my doctor to do and they usually are 97.6 and 97.7 sometimes higher. I have been having these for 6 months or longer I thought I was going thru menopause, but my doc say that i am not.

Sometimes I get super hot or flustered then it passes after bit. What do you think?

I was getting those for probably the last year before my dx and probably about 6 months or so after... they seem to have subsided though... (knock wood)

I don't get them anymore now that I'm gluten-free.

I am menopausal, though (blood test showed this) and get hot flashes both during the day and at night. These--for me--are very different than the ones I used to get. These are very specific--I feel them coming on, they last a couple minutes, and they subside. I don't sweat nearly as much with these.

I know what I ate last night and the only thing I can think of was the refried beans can said may contain soy and i was bloated after i ate them and again this am when i ate them again with organic cheese, Iam feeling bloated and this is all i have eaten today ?

I get bloated from beans. Legumes affect a lot of people. I don't think it's necessarily like gluten where it does damage, but I know some people have joint pain if they eat them.

I know that Diabetes & thyroid can cause night sweats. Have you been checked for these?

I echo what mamaw said. My husband had terrible night sweats, and the first thing the dr. did was a lung x-ray. I'm not sure what he was looking for but he scheduled it seriously and quickly. Nothing. Next up was a diabetes check. Bingo. I never would have thought so but the dr. said in his case he can thank genetics for it. (I'm telling you this so you don't dismiss diabetes just because you think your diet and shape don't make you a candidate for it.) If your dr is not looking into it, maybe find one who will.

Night sweats have never been a part of my Celiac, but seems for others it may be.

It's funny you mentioned that. I have been having night sweats (totally soaked) for over a year now. I didn't know why. I figured it was because I was really hot in bed even though I just had a comforter on me. Having so many symptoms you wonder what is real or not real anymore. I have just started gluten-free Dec. 14th, so I will let you know if it improves.

I had been tested for thyroid before, but it came back negative. Mind you I have done a lot of research on thyroid and I guess it is tricky to diagnose. <_<

I had this problem and it has stopped. I got advice from Ursula. All at once I eliminated all grain and legumes, and reduced my salicylate exposure and intake. Now the only time it occurs I can link it to salicylates.

Hope you find what is happening to you.

When I was diagnosed celiac and went gluten-free, I think not only the villi were damages but also the micro villi that keep toxins from entering the system. I am reducing my toxin level as much as I can, trying to boost my system to eliminate them through the liver and kidney more efficiently and looking for a way to stimulate healing the gut.

I mention it because I waited too long to get help. The doctors siad healing would take time and to be patient. Now it has been 7 years, I am better because of the advice I got here not from doctors. I am working to find my own answers now.

Do you have flushing? A rapid rise and drop in temp. I called it sweats for a long time. It lead the docs to link it to menapause. It is like hot flashes but I believe that my system is saciated with toxins when ever I am over exposed I have problems.

Folks here have been through it all. Describe things to the best of your ability and you will gather ideas to solve your problems. Remember everyone is different.

      Hi everyone I'm James, I hope you are all feeling well??. Accidentally had gluten at weekend and I've had severe diarrhea since sat night. My question is ,the longer someone like myself has been following a strict gluten-free diet will the exposure to gluten be lot more extreme as body now has been free of it well over a year ?       I use Listerine.  Rinse first to soften the tarter, then brush with Oral B electric toothbrush super sonic.  The $15 ones at the supermarket.  At 73 I still have all my teeth.  While a blood test can measure iodine levels, it's not the most accurate method for assessing iodine status, and urinary iodine excretion is considered a better indicator.  Have any of your dermatologists ever done a biopsy for dermatitis herpetiformis?  I may have missed it.  Note the similarity of Casal's necklace to one of your symptoms. Pellagra rash is a characteristic skin manifestation of niacin (vitamin B3) deficiency. It typically presents as:  Erythema: Red, sunburned-like areas of skin, often on the face, neck, arms, and legs.  Scaliness: Dry, flaky skin that may become thickened and crusty.  Hyperpigmentation: Darkened patches of skin, particularly in sun-exposed areas.  Casal's necklace: A dark, pigmented band around the neck.  I am currently taking these} Vitamin D 10,000 IU (250 mcg) DHEA 100 mg 500 mcg Iodine  10 drops of Liquid Iodine B1 Thiamin 250 mg  B2 Riboflavin 100 mg B3 Nicotinic Acid 500 mg 4 times a day for hyperlipidemia. B5 Pantothenice Acid 500 mg Vitamin C 500 mg     Selenium 200 mcg  Several times a week

      I will. Thanks. I did just have mg B12 drawn. I should also state that I am already taking a Vit D supplement, as I live in the US in New England sand just about everyone who lives here is deficient, esp during our winters with less exposure to natural sunlight. I was also taking a chewable bariatric vitamin as well because of my food issues related to my cancer treatment (which was many years ago, but there are long term effects.) I just stopped it because I was unable to get any gluten information about it. And it did contain iodine. Is there even a vitamin that doesn’t? I don’t know, but I will check. I also take Calcium and Magnesium in the form of “Rolaids” for leg cramps/spasms, with good effects. Thanks.
