I know there are a few of you in the Minneapolis/St Paul area . . . I read about this place in the paper yesterday and just wanted to pass along the info. I'm going to try it out this weekend.

Hi...I would like to hear about your experience at this new bakery as I am from St. Cloud. My daughter and I would appreciate somewhere we can go for a change without having to worry. Please let me know.

Thanks,

Amy

Hi Amy -

I just went there this afternoon. I guess they opened 3 weeks ago, and were not prepared for the huge response they got! We were there about an hour and 1/2 before closing, and all they had left were a few cupcakes, some carrot cake, and cookies. They were out of all their bread, muffins, pizza crust, and all the mixes to take home. I put my name on a list to save some multigrain bread that they bake on Thursdays. So if you are coming from St Cloud, be sure to call ahead and reserve what you want - she said they've been running out of most things by the end of the day. We took a couple pieces of carrot cake home with us for dessert and it was excellent! They also have lots of coffee, tea, and cider there too. Hope that helps! Oh, and if you plan on coming soon, it was a little hard to find - it still has a sign on it that it is an embroidery shop - we passed it 3 times before we realized that it was the place.

Thanks for the info. I am planning on going sometime this week and will definitely call ahead. Also, have you been to The Golden Chalice Restaurant & Gallery in Chanhassen? The Celiac support group here in St. Cloud mentioned they are gluten free or have a gluten free menu. Know anything?

I have not heard of that place - I will definitely have to try it out! I don't know if you've heard of it or been there, but last week my husband and I went to Chianti - It was so good. I never thought I'd be able to go to a "regular" Italian restaurant again! They even brought out my salad with sunflower seeds instead of croutons. Food was great - they've got a whole gluten free menu. Here's the link just in case:

Other than that I have only tried Outback Steakhouse and Chipotle for dining out.

Good luck and thanks for the info!

Hey Thanks!!! Hadn't heard of them before, this is great.

I will be moving to Eden Prairie MN as of this coming saturday- or at least I will be starting the drive over there.

I am so relieved to hear that there is somewhere to go out and eat at!

I just found out about my Celiacs this past month (so very very new!). It all seems so overwhelming! :(

Thank you for the gluten free restaurant info

Thank you. I already cut out dairy and eggs because I found out I was having a problem with them. To be honest I’m just getting worn out 😂

Hi Kitty, thank you for your e mail,  I have seen a nutritionist who seemed to be happy with the food diary I had been keeping and nothing was mentioned about extra vitamins, and I’m still using milk etc . The steroids seem to be working and everything is functioning as it should however,  the course of tablets finish at the end of February and I have an appointment with the consultant early April probably followed by another endoscopy, as far as I’m aware I have not been tested for vitamin B and will definitely discuss it with the doctor on my next visit.

It might be understandable to say "friends or family weeded me or you out of their lives". Some people are fearful of getting out of their comfortable known lives and having to make changes to accommodate another.   If they are too uncomfortable to walk a mile with me, I shake the dust off my feet and journey on.  They're just not ready to learn that lesson.  But you confidently keep going on your journey.  They can catch up later.

You might also be sensitive to other things while you are healing. Dairy, for example. It won't harm you from a celiac standpoint but is inflammatory and could be bothering you. Have you been keeping a food & symptom journal? Might be worth it for a week to see if you notice something you are eating prior to the times you feel your worst. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Someone recently recommended Superfoods for looking up recipes free of allergens or intolerances.  It's a web site but there's also an app.
