Burning Mouth

You guys always seem to have good advice. Here we go again.

Burning mouth, that's it. Sometimes my face beads with sweat. You know how your mouth feels when you eat something REALLY spicey, lips feel swollen.

The problem is this has become constant. Drinking milk, eating cheese and ice cream bring relief for a hour or so. Water helps but has no lasting effect.

I have 2 ideas. The alkaline acid balance in out of wack or it is a reaction to white potato. Now that I am writing this it suddenly sounds right. This is probably a nightshade reaction from white potato. I have been testing them for the past few weeks. My only doubt is that I was having this before I began testing the potato. The burning has been intense for about a month.

Any ideas?

I used to get the kinda burning feeling you are talking about on my upper lip after eating nuts. I think it might be an allergic reaction. Now, the challenge is to figure out what's causing it!

Hi,

Tapioca does that to me, makes my mouth burn for a long time. It is in many gluten free mixes.

I hope you find the answer, it's no fun having that sensation.

I used to get the burning mouth before I was diagnosed. It would almost always come along with a burning face--my face would get hot to the touch.

Since I've been gluten-free, this has stopped happening.

I also have various food intolerances, so I'm not completely sure if it is was gluten, or something else that caused it.

Incidently, I am intolerant to tapioca, also. I get a dry mouth from it immediately, followed by nausea.

I am not taking anything except for the multivitamins that I purchased from the supermarket.

The critic acid and sodium citrate is corn unfortunately and they don’t have to label corn because it’s not part of the top 9 allergen and not mandatory 😭

Yaya, from the JAMA study you refer to: "Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity." No one on this forum is recommending  taking anywhere near that amount. We're talking about 5-10,000IU daily.

"Doses higher than the RDA are sometimes used to treat medical problems such as vitamin D deficiency, but these are given only under the care of a doctor for a specified time frame. Blood levels should be monitored while someone is taking high doses of vitamin D." Quoted from the Healthline article @Yaya linked above...
